Age of 6 to 24 months is a golden life phase that when its nutritional fulfillment are insufficient, it will give a big impact for the future life. On this phase, the childs are started for recognition of breastmilk complementary food which its texture and amount are different based on the age. There are still many problems in Indonesia regarding the golden standard implementation of infant and child feeding such as Early Breastfeeding Initiation, Exclusive Breastfeeding, and Breastfeeding till 24 months or more. Workshop is conducted by utilizing the available space with group dynamics and games. The results of public service activity with 24 cadres as participant showed that there are 20 cadres that increase their knowledge after attending workshop and there are 4 cadres that there is no change in knowledge. Wilcoxon test showed p value as 0.001. This is indicate that statistically there is a significant different of knowledge after attending workshop. The common child and infant feeding practice in our community is early complementary feeding with excuses that breastmilk is not enough to increase baby weight and food taboo such as forbidden for consumption of milk banana.

Abstract

Intestinal worm disease is one of the parasitic diseases that still infect humans, especially children. School-age children, especially elementary school children, are generally less familiar with self-sanitation. Most diseases of the worms are transmitted through dirty hands. Community service at SD Inpres Pampang 1 was done to educate students about the implementation of good self-sanitation and precisely how to wash hands based on WHO standards. The tools used in this study were chalkboard, camera, microscope, reaction tube, glass object, glass cover, container/basin, stirrer rod, glass beaker, tube rack, petri dish, nail clippers, and pens. The materials used in this training were hand nails students SD Inpres Pampang 1, water, and salt. Based on the results and evaluation, it concludes 1) Worm infections can occur when there are worm eggs attached to the nails that are swallowed in with food. 2) improving participants ' understanding and knowledge of self-sanitation for everyday life, especially the right-hand washing way.

Abstract

More than a third of children in the world experience growth and development disorders both physically and mentally, and an estimated 5 to 10% of the child population has developmental delays. Child development problems such as motor delays, language, behavior, autism, hyperactivity, have increased in recent years, the occurrence in the United States ranges from 12-16.6%, Thailand 24%, Argentina 22.5%, and in Indonesia between 13 % -18%. Approximately 16% of children under five years old (toddlers). Indonesia experiences neurological and brain development disorders ranging from mild to severe. The purpose of this study is to increase the motivation of toddlers to carry out routine child development checks, increase the participation of toddlers to carry out child development checks using KPSP, early detection of growth, and developmental disorders. The method used in this community service is varied lectures. The speakers did a demonstration to mothers who have children of 3 - 72 months. Each mother gave information about their child's age and early detection of growth and development using KPSP according to the age child age. Results: Out of 140 children aged 3 - 72 months who were detected developmentally using the Pre Development Screening Questionnaire (KPSP), there were 134 children (95.7%) with normal results and 6 people (4.3%) with doubtful results and none (0%) who experienced deviance. Conclusion: The 6 children with doubtful screening results, after 2 weeks of screening, obtained 100% normal developmental results. Suggestion: Early detection can find growth disorders and child development, therefore, an intervention can be done as early as possible.

Abstract

The efforts to reduce maternal and infant mortality can be done by increasing the coverage and quality of maternal and child health services. One effort is made to bring health services closer to the community through the pregnant mothers class program. Pregnant woman class is a study group of pregnant women with gestational age between 4 weeks to 36 weeks with a maximum number of 10 participants. In this class, pregnant women will learn together, discuss and exchange experiences on overal maternal and child health, facilitated by midwives or health workers by using the class package for pregnant women, namely flip chart, guidelines for implementing classes of pregnant women, class facilitator’s handbook pregnant women, exercise books for pregnant women and books on maternal and child health (MCH). Based on the results of community service activities with participants of 40 pregnant women there was an increase in correct answers to all participants after participating in class activities for snakes ladderss of pregnant women. From the pre-test result it turns out that most of the results obtained were less than 60. This shows that the knowledge ability of pregnant women is still lacking. However, after holding the snakes ladder pregnant class, there was an increase in the knowledge of pregnant women with an increase in the post-test score point in the range between 21-30 (47.5%).

Abstract

Inadequate milk production in the first days after delivery is caused by a lack of stimulation of the hormone prolactin and the hormone oxytocin. Decreasing milk production is caused by decreased stimulation of hormones prolactin and oxytocin. Efforts that can be made to stimulate the increase of hormone prolactin and oxytocin, including initiating early breastfeeding, expressing breast milk, and doing oxytocin massage, are practical and efficient in increasing milk production. Data from the Public Health Office of Palu in 2017 and 2018 showed that the average of exclusive breastfeeding coverage in 11 sub-districts in Central Sulawesi Province is <50% and specifically Kota Palu exclusive breastfeeding coverage only 49.6% in 2017 and then dropped to 49, 3% in 2018. Oxytocin massage training has never been conducted at the Tawaeli Community Health Center, especially for postpartum mothers companions such as Posyandu Cadres, Husbands, or Families. The method used in community service activities was discussions, simulations, and demonstrations using leaflet and audiovisual media. The number of puerperal mothers who attended the training was 25 people. The results of training activities for postpartum mothers in the Kayumalue Ngapa village obtained that the results of knowledge analysis overall increased in the knowledge of 25 participants after attending the training, with an average increase of 13 points. The p-value<0,001 results meant that statistically, there was a significant effect on the increase of knowledge of postpartum mothers companion after attending oxytocin massage training. To sum up that there is a significant increase in knowledge between before and after training on oxytocin massage in stimulating milk production. It is recommended that health workers need to be consistent and continuous in giving training to the companion of the postpartum mother (husband, family or cadre) in order to be able to assist the process of changing behavior for the postpartum mother to provide exclusive breastfeeding and conduct care during the postpartum period.
