Abstract

The Family Planning Program as one of the government policies in the population sector, has high implications for quantitative and qualitative health development. To make the family planning program a success, one of the methods used is the contraceptive method. The method of contraception that is considered safe and effective is the intrauterine device (IUD), but its use is still very low compared to other contraceptives. National coverage for active family planning participants is 66%, while North Maluku Province is only 52.4%, with IUD users only 7.4%, far below injectable contraceptives at 63.7%. The purpose of this study was to determine which factors from age, education, occupation and parity were more related to the mother's knowledge about IUD. Using a descriptive method with a non-probability sampling technique, which was taken by accident, for a month to find 67 samples. The results showed that most of the respondents were aged 20-35 years old, had adequate education, employed female employees and had 2-3 children parity. Of the four factors analyzed, it shows that the work factor and the number of children 2-3 people are the respondents who use the IUD the most

Abstract

Individuals who become elderly will experience physical changes from their initial body condition to being very weak. The declining conditions experienced by the elderly tend to cause physical and psychological health problems and dissatisfaction in life. The purpose of this study is to analyze counseling and dhikr intervention on the attitude of self-acceptance of the elderly. An experimental design using pre-test and post-test control groups was conducted among 30 elderly people living in nursing homes with the inclusion criteria of being able to communicate well, not deaf, not cognitively impaired, or depressed. Participants were randomly allocated, to the intervention group at Nursing Home of Jambangan and the control group at Nursing Home of Hargo Dedali in Surabaya Indonesia. Measurement of self-acceptance was carried out twice through a questionnaire, namely before the counseling and dhikr intervention and 8 weeks after. Data were analyzed using paired t-test. The results showed that there is pre-post differences in the group that received counseling and dhikr intervention (p-value = 0.000). The participants in the intervention group showed an increase in self-acceptance while in the control group there is no significant difference with a p-value of 0.937. Religious support for dhikr and counseling needs to be carried out intensively for the elderly as religious activities can provide a sense of peace, surrender, and surrender to Allah Almighty. The combination of counseling and dhikr is an effort to improve oneself spiritually and has a positive correlation with the attitude of self-acceptance of the elderly living in nursing homes. Institutions where services for the elderly can contribute to the elderly living in nursing homes by carrying out programmatic activities, namely counseling, especially for the elderly who have just entered special institutions for the elderly, spiritual approaches also need to be improved both in groups and individuals such as prayer, dhikr, and worship. others according to ability. A very important contribution is the guidance carried out by cleric so that elderly worship is more focused. This is an effort so that the elderly can accept the conditions they are facing and can accept themselves living in the orphanage.

Abstract

It was reported that 50% of Postpartum women experience symptoms of stress/anxiety known as postpartum blues, with the level of depressive symptoms continuing to increase to postpartum depression. This condition cannot be cured without clinical intervention. Music iscreated to influence the psychological condition of humans, as well as to provide a sense of security, comfort and fun. To describe the effect of a combination of natural and murotal music to reduce postpartum depression. The contribution of this study is to explain the effect of the combination of natural and murottal music to reduce postpartum depression. This study used a Quasi-Experiment method through pretest-posttest design with a control group and a treatment group. In this case, the intervention group was given a combination of natural and murottal music therapy, in which each intervention was given for 30 minutes for three consecutive days. The number of samples involved was 60 people who were divided into 2 groups of postpartum mothers. The intervention group consists 30 people, while the control group consists 30 people. Data was collected using the EPDS (Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale) questionnaire. Data analysis used independent t-test. Results: There were 9 mothers with mild depression and 21 moderate depressions in the intervention group. On the other hand, there were 17 normal mothers and 13 moderately depressed mother in the post-intervention group with t test value of 27.17 and sig of (p) 0.00 v(value) 0.36. Meanwhile in the control group, there were 1 (one) normal mother, 27 mothers who had mild depression and 2 mothers who had moderate levels. There were 19 mothers with low depression and 11 mothers with moderate depression. The results of the t-test obtained 22.13 with sig(p) 0.01 v(value) 0.001. There was an effect of music therapy on the reduction in the incidence of postpartum depression which was very significant after three days of being given music therapy. There was an increase in the level of depression by two levels higher from pre to post in the control group. Furthermore, the results of the t-test on the postpartum blues pretest and posttest showed that there was a significant difference in the incidence of postpartum blues between the control and intervention groups after the intervention period. There is a difference in the value of t 5.04 sig (p) 0.01, even though the value is smaller than t table (0.05). The difference obtained shows that the control group has a risk of experiencing postpartum blues by 2 (two) times compared to the intervention group. Music therapy was given to all postpartum primiparous mothers immediately after delivery. Health services need to prepare facilities and human resources to provide relaxation therapy, namely music therapy as an alternative therapy.

Abstract

Hyperglycemia in patients with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) can lead to complications such as diabetic foot ulcers. Therefore, efforts are needed to prevent this chronic complication through proper foot care. This study aimed to determine the behavior of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in performing blood glucose monitoring and correct foot care. This study is a descriptive cross-sectional study, with a sample size of 125 patients with T2DM from the Community Health Center in Surabaya Indonesia. Data was collected with the use of a self-made questionnaire from May to October 2018. The variables of the study were patient characteristics, random blood glucose levels, blood glucose monitoring and foot care skills. The data analysis used was Spearman rho to determine the factors associated with foot care behaviors.  Fifty-six percent (56%) of the participants have poor behavior on foot care, 36 % have moderate and only 7.2% have good.  Factors that were significantly associated with foot care behavior were signs and symptoms (p = 0.023), blood glucose monitoring (p = .000), and random blood glucose levels (p = 0.040). The behaviors of patients with T2DM in blood glucose monitoring and foot care need to be improved to prevent complications from diabetic foot ulcers. Nurses must provide health education about the importance of regular foot care to patients and their families. The results of this study can be used to further improve the programs and services to prevent DM and delay the progression of chronic complications like diabetic foot ulcers at the community level.

Abstract

Liver disease is a major health problem that endangers human health worldwide. Stem cells have the unique ability to morph or differentiate into different types of cells within the body. In this way, stem cells can be used to seek out damaged liver tissue and regenerate the organ itself. Mesenchymal stem cells are multipotent stem cells that can self-renew and differentiate into different cell types. In other words, mesenchymal stem cells can become a variety of different cell types including adipose tissue, cartilage, muscle, tendon/ligament, bone, neurons, and hepatocytes. Many studies have shown that Mesenchymal stem cells play an essential role in liver recovery, and further research has verified the preliminary effectiveness and safety of these therapies. types of liver disease that are most suitable for MSC application should be determined, and the preparation and engraftment of MSCs should be standardized. Stem cell-based therapies will emerge as an effective treatment strategy for liver diseases in now and the future. Researchers conduct an examination of articles that are in accordance with the issue to be studied. Articles used in literature review are obtained through the database of international journal providers through PubMed, we investigated six clinical studies and discussed what happened in these clinical studies and the extent of the effectiveness of stem cells in treatment and whether the degree of liver disease had a role in the effectiveness of stem cells, we also discussed the mechanism of stem cells in treatment. One of six articles proved that Zeaxanthin dipalmitate (ZD) could enhance the defensive abilities against adverse stresses of human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells, One of six articles proved that infusion of allogeneic bone marrow-derived MSCs improving liver function and decreasing the incidence of severe infections. The rest articles proved that  MSCs both Bone Marrow Stem cells (BMSCs) and Adipose Derived Stem Cells (ADSCs) are promising therapeutic agents for the liver fibrosis and cirrhosis treatment. In this review, we suggest that formulating and following treatment, Further studies are needed to determine the related mechanisms to enhance MSC efficacy.
