Abstract

Low back pain is discomfort in the lower back area in the form of a feeling of pain and discomfort. A flight attendant is a profession that uses high heels when working. The use of high heels can cause changes in the fulcrum of the body when walking. Problems occur when wearing high heels for a long time, causing the lumbar muscles to shorten and lower back pain to occur. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between the height of the heels and the length of use of high heels with complaints of low back pain in the flight attendants of X Airlines. The parameter used to measure complaints of low back pain is NRS. This research is a correlation study with a cross-sectional approach. Based on the results of statistical tests using SPSS, it was obtained that the p-value = 0.001. Thus, there is a correlation between low back pain complaints with flying hours in 24 hours and the working period. This study did not find a correlation between the height of the heels with complaints of low back pain (p> 0.05).

Abstract

Cervical syndrome is a collection of symptoms, especially pain around the cervical spine. Pain in cervical syndrome is more common in conditions related to the deformity of the cervical vertebrae, one of which is a flat neck or conditions where cervical lordosis is reduced. When the lordosis curve disappears, the vertical load will be redistributed along the anterior portion of the cervical spine, causing pressure on soft tissue and surrounding bone. This can lead to various musculoskeletal problems. The combination of manual therapy and exercise is suggested to reduce problems such as pain, limitations of the range of motion (ROM), and improve functional ability. Methods: Single case study, with the implementation of kneading and friction massage and exercise therapy in the form of modified cervical and shoulder retraction exercises, evaluated eight times. pain Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), goniometer, and the Neck Disability Index (NDI) parameter were used for pain intensity, ROM, and functional ability, respectively. Results: There was a decrease in the VAS for pain intensity, compared to the first evaluation for right lateral flexion of 7.6/10 to 1.2/10, left lateral flexion from 7.3/10 to 0.9/10, and the right rotation from 6.1/10 to 0/10. In addition, there was an increase in ROM compared to the first time. The ROM for extension motion increases from 40º to 45º, right lateral flexion 35º to 40º, left lateral flexion 40º, and right rotation from 50º to 60º. Associated with a decrease in VAS and an increase in ROM, the NDI score shows significant improvement from 44% in the first evaluation to 2% in the last evaluation. The decrease in the NDI value indicates the better the patient's functional ability. Conclusion: This study shows that massage and exercise therapy in the form of modified cervical and shoulder retraction exercises are proven to be effective in reducing pain, increasing ROM, and improving functional abilities.

Abstract

Bronchiectasis is a major chronic disease characterized by infection, inflammation, and permanent dilation of the bronchial walls. Interaction of chronic infection, exacerbation, and inflammation resulting in lung injury. Patients with bronchiectasis have several clinical manifestations of primary bronchiectasis, which is the occurrence of recurrent, chronic infections. In patients with bronchiectasis, mechanical efficiency of breathing leads to decreased rib movement and increased abdominal movement leading to a paradoxical breathing pattern. Treatment goals include achieving symptom control, preventing or reducing exacerbations. Various alternative airway techniques have been used in the physiotherapeutic management of patients with bronchiectasis. Techniques are considered the way to be considered an integral component of management. The breathing technique consists of an intermediary that regulates breathing control, hard expansion exercises. ACBT (Active Cycle Breathing Technique) is an intervention that aims to improve the condition of the chest wall. ACBT has a significant effect on the rate of chest expansion. So that these interventions can increase chest expansion and can reduce fatigue in taking a breath.. The therapist does not huff because the patient can cough effectively. In addition to increasing chest expansion, the effectiveness of ACBT is also useful for reducing shortness of breath, reducing phlegm, and exacerbations. Appropriate ACBT can also exacerbation of symptoms and reduce patient morbidity and mortality. Because of its effectiveness, it is preferred by the patient and if the cost is really enjoyed by the patient, it can be done at home. Other airway treatments have also shown benefit for the treatment of bronchiectasis, but ACBT shows a great effect on symptoms.1 ACBT has a significant effect in improving airways and improving lung function in bronchiectasis, but ACBT has a better effect on improving airways.

Abstract

The purpose of this case study is to determine the effect of diaphragmatic breathing and endurance exercise in hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) cases. HAP is a nosocomial pneumonia that occurs 48 hours or more after the patient is admitted to the hospital, without any signs of pulmonary infection at the time of initial treatment. The existence of clinical manifestations that appear, patients with HAP tend to avoid physical activity which can decrease the functional capacity of the respiratory system and have an impact on decreasing endurance. Diaphragmatic breathing exercise is thought to be able to help reduce shortness of breath, reduce the work of the accessory muscles of breathing, improve breathing frequency and also improve breathing patterns. Endurance training aims to increase the stimulation of the cardiorespiratory system response so that oxygen transportation becomes more efficient and the patient is able to carry out optimal activities. The method used in this case study is an evidence-based case report with a clinical question, "Does diaphragmatic breathing exercise and endurance exercise have a better effect on increasing endurance in hospital-acquired pneumonia?" To be able to answer this question, a case study was conducted by applying diaphragmatic exercise and endurance exercise, then to support the evidence from the results of the opener exercise, evidence was searched in 2 databases, namely Scopus and Science Direct. The keywords used were “diaphragmatic breathing exercise” OR “deep breathing exercise” AND “reduce dyspnea” and “endurance exercise” AND “cardiorespiratory endurance” AND “metabolic equivalents” with the inclusion criteria of full text articles and publications in 2015-2020. The search found 7 articles that met the inclusion criteria. Then the search stage was continued by reading the entire article and found 3 articles on Scopus and 1 article on Science Direct.
