Abstract

Advanced measles immunization is a health program held by the government for ncreasing the level of immunity and extending the period of protection given to children under the age of three and school-age children. The corevage advanced measles immunization at Labuhan Ratu Primary Health Center is the lowest in Bandar Lampung, which is caused by immunization providing behaviour of the mother which is influenced by some factors such as mother's knowledge, mother's attitude, mother's job status, affordability of health services and the role of health workers. This study was an observational study with a cross sectional design. There were 42 respondents which are determined by purposive sampling method. The data was assessed by questionnaire and collected by interview. The data was analyzed univariate and bivariate. Bivariate analysis using chi square test. The results showed 35.7% of respondents received incomplete immunization. Bivariate analysis showed the variables associated with sustainable immunization were knowledge (p value 0.002) and maternal attitudes (p value 0.001). Bivariate analysis also showed that the mother’s employment status (p value 0.47), affordability of the health service place (p value 0.287) and the role of health workers (p value 0.357) were not related. The conclusion is that mother’s knowledge and mother’s attitude were the factors correlated to advanced measles immunization.

Abstract

Thyroid-Associated Ophthalmopathy (TAO), known as Graves Ophthalmopathy (GO) or Thyroid Eye Disease (TED), is the most common cause of orbital disease in adults and a significant cause of morbidity in patients with Graves' disease. The main cause of this disease is the occurence of inflammation, which results in the overproduction of glycosaminglycans (GAG) and adipogenesis. This process is caused by the release of local inflammatory cytokines. Smoking is suspected to be one of risk factor that associated with the severity of TED. Tobacco smoke has cyanide, this substance will be converted into chemical thyocyanates when inhaled. Exposure to that smoke can increase the production and adipogenesis which is the cause of Thyroid Eye Disease.

Abstract

Picky eating is an eating disorder that is often found in toddlers. Picky eating, which is also known as fussy eating, is characterized by a child's unwillingness to try new foods as well as a very strong food preference. This of course will have a bad effect on the child because the nutritional composition of the food is not balanced. Some studies said that children with picky eating eat less protein, vegetables and fruits. However, they eat lots of sweet and fatty foods. The causes of picky eating are late introduction of food when weaning, parents who put too much pressure on their children to eat something, and the protective factor of parents who just want to give the same food over and over again. In addition, several studies have stated that the duration of breastfeeding is also one of the causes of picky eating habits. This is because breastfed babies are introduced to the various flavors of breast milk, making the transition from breast milk to complementary foods easier for children. However, because there is no consistent evidence, the conclusion is there is no relationship between the duration of exclusive breastfeeding and picky eating in toddlers.

Abstract

Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) is a form of hearing loss caused by noise caused by a work environment that is exposed for a long time. Noise is sound that is produced with an uncertain intensity and volume. Noise sources or sound sources that exceed 85 dB have an impact on the damage to the inner ear meaning receptors. Workers who work in an environment with a noise source above 85dB and with an exposure time of more than 8 hours a day without any rotation (shift) will greatly impact NIHL permanently for a long period of time if they do not use adequate ear protection equipment (APT). The research that has been carried out by Fitriyani et al in 2016, involved 10 respondents who work in the weaving department of a textile company located in Salatiga. The results obtained from 10 respondents who are workers in the weaving department, 70% of workers do not use ear protection in the form of ear plugs while working, 30% of respondents wear ear protection in the form of ear plugs when working, some workers reported buzzing ears due to noise generated in work environments with noise levels above 99 dB. The high prevalence of hearing loss in workers is due to the low wearing of PPE while working in a noisy work environment. Based on the studies that have been conducted, the low use of ear protection is a factor in the high number of NIHL among workers.

Abstract

Alzheimer is a neurodegenerative disease which is the third leading cause of death for elderly in the world. Until now, no effective therapeutic management has been found for Alzheimer's patient. Curcumin is known to have powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-amylogenic properties so it has the potential to prevent and treat Alzheimer's disease. A review of the journals obtained using search engines such as Google Scholar, Proquest, Sciencedirect, NCBI, PubMed, and Springer were conducted with a publication year spanning 2011-2021. The journals obtained are then selected to obtain valid and reliable journals. Then a literature review and article writing are conducted. Curcumin has the ability to inhibit the formation and spread of free radicals, affect the work of macrophages in cleaning β-amyloid plaque, reduce the production of proinflammatory cytokines, and mainly inhibit the accumulation and aggregation of β-amyloid. Curcumin needs to be distributed appropriately in order to have its maximum therapeutic effect. Aerosol-based delivery of curcumin has been shown to deliver most of the therapeutic compounds to the brain without causing systemic toxicity or drug degradation in the liver. The use of nasal spray media can support the delivery of aerosol curcumin via the nasal route because it can transport drugs through the brain more efficiently. Aerosol curcumin with nasal spray device has the potential as a preventive and curative therapy for Alzheimer's disease

Abstract

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is one of the most prevalent conditions, and it frequently coexists with vascular disease in other parts of the body. Early diagnosis is important for improving the patient’s quality of life and for reducing the risk of serious secondary vascular events such as acute myocardial infraction (AMI) or stroke. The best noninvasive measure for identifying the presence of occlusive arterial disease is the ankle-brachial index. Lower extremity PAD most frequently presents with pain during ambulation, which is known as “intermittent claudication”. Some relief of symptoms is possible with exercise, pharmacotherapy, and cessation of smoking. The occurrence of PAD is caused by insufficiency in the arteries due to the occurrence of the atherosclerosis process. Aspirin inhibits platelet synthesis through irreversible acetylation of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes on platelets. Because platelets do not have a nucleus, platelets are not able to form (COX) enzymes during their lifetime. As a result, the synthesis of thromboxane A2 (TXA2) which plays a major role in platelet aggregation is inhibited. Thus, long-term aspirin in the long term can prevent myocardial infarction and PAD.
