Abstract

The potential of artificial intelligence language models, such as Chat GPT, to support self-determined learning in higher education has garnered increasing attention from educators, researchers, and policymakers. However, the promises and pitfalls of using Chat GPT for self-determined learning remain subject to debate and warrant further exploration. In this argumentative review, we examine the central questions and statements of the problem related to the use of Chat GPT for self-determined learning in higher education. We synthesise and critically evaluate the existing literature on the potential of Chat GPT to support self-directed and self-determined learning and highlight the main challenges and concerns associated with its use. According to our analysis, Chat GPT promises to improve self-determined learning by offering individualised feedback, resources, and assistance to learners that can foster their acquisition of knowledge and skills. However, using Chat GPT in self-determined learning also raises ethical and pragmatic concerns. These include issues about privacy, data security, and algorithmic bias, which could compromise the effectiveness and reliability of Chat GPT-based interventions. We posit that while the potential benefits of Chat GPT for self-determined learning are significant, they must be weighed against its potential drawbacks. As such, the design, implementation, and assessment of Chat GPT-based higher education interventions must be carefully considered. Our results indicate that the advancement of Chat GPT-based interventions for self-determined learning in higher education necessitates a nuanced and multidisciplinary approach that considers the viewpoints of educators, researchers, learners, and other interested stakeholders.

Abstract

In the current era of globalization, technological development is very fast, especially in the form of digital media which is widely used by the community, especially in the field of education. Digital media used in the learning process provides benefits to support the achievement of learning outcomes. Proper utilization of digital media and the existence of strategies in the application of appropriate digital media are considered effective in the learning process. At this time, students are considered a generation that includes digital literacy where they are accustomed to using digital media in their daily lives, especially in the school environment. However, there are still many students out there who still cannot fully utilize digital media due to various constraints, especially limitations in access to technology. The purpose of writing this article is to explain the utilization of digital media in the world of education, especially where digital media can facilitate the presentation of material by educators and add insight into knowledge for educators and students.

Abstract

As we know, information and communication technology are developing rapidly in this era. This ever-evolving and improving technology has led to increased learning and innovation opportunities associated with newer information and communication technology systems. Along with the development of this technology, improving the quality of human resources is also needed, so that the world of education needs to take steps to innovate learning methods. Therefore, the English Tadris Study Program proposes a learning method through the concept of cybergogy as an involved online learning system. Cybergogy is a learning innovation based on information and communication technology with three interrelated factors, namely: cognitive, emotional, and social. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the concept and implementation of cyberphony in learning phonology. The method used in this research is a literature study. Data collection techniques include searching for data in books, journals, and the web (internet) with data analysis using the theory of Miles and Huberman. The results and discussion of this study on phonology can be applied to the learning process with the cybergogy method. Learning phonology through the concept of cybergogy can be easily understood because phonology studies sound, and this learning is very compatible with the concept of cybergogy, which is learning with native speakers through online media.

Abstract

Physics learning at university level uses social media as a learning media. This research was conducted to determine the effect of social media in stimulating mathematical thinking skills on physics at university level. This research is a quantitative research and One Group Pretest-Posttest Design as data collection. A total of 20 students were selected by purposive sampling method as participants. Smartphone is used as a learning media and WhatsApp has choosen as social media to support physics learning. International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) Keyboard and Math Keyboard installed on the WhatsApp to stimulate mathematics and symbols in Physics equations. The learning approach applied is problem based-learning (PBL) with Kinematics materials. The results showed that there was an increase in the stimulation of students' mathematical thinking skills before and after using WhatsApp as social media with additional features Math Keyboard and IPA Keyboard. Thus, social media can be used to improve mathematical thinking skills on Physics

Abstract

The aim of this study was to describe the use of mathway applications in solving calculus problems for Tadris Mathematics students at the Muhammadiyah Islamic Institute of Religion. The type of research used in this research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The collection of data used is a test, interviews. The data analysis technique used is data collection, data presentation, data analysis and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are the application of Mathway as an alternative in solving calculus problems which are considered difficult by students. The findings of this study indicate that the Mathway application can be used by anyone at any time to facilitate learning activities and to become a learning media tool, especially in solving math problems. This application can make it easier for students to solve problems because in addition to the final result, it can also be used to see the process of solving the problem.

Abstract

Learning English especially tenses is still a scary thing to learn for most students. However, the English Education Study Program has a forum that provides space for students to actualize themselves in practicing to become peer tutors, namely the English Meeting Club. The purpose of this study is to find out the application of the concept of peeragogy in learning tenses at the English Meeting Club in the English Language Education Study Program. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative with a sample of English Education study program students consisting of 3 (three) batches. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation with data analysis using the theory of Miles and Huberman. The results obtained from this study are related to the concept of applying peeragogy in learning tenses at the English Meeting Club of the English Education Study Program, namely the teacher (mentor) is a student of English Education Study Program who every week has been arranged in turns by presenting different tenses themes. Material presentation techniques were dominated by discussions and games. In addition, the teacher also provides tricks and tips that make it easier for students to better understand tenses material. The presentation of this material is also not only done in the classroom, but is carried out outside the classroom, both in the afternoon and at night.

Abstract

The heutagogy learning method is effective and efficient for improving the learning process. The onslaught of globalization and the era of society 5.0 has its challenges. This method is expected to be able to foster a sense of interconnectedness between not only teachers and students but also involves local wisdom amid society. There is a need for local knowledge that can improve welfare and create peace. The aim of the heutagogy learning method in okapande is a learning component based on the local wisdom of the Muna people. Okapande provides its dimension in terms of modern learning and can foster cultural values in the Muna community. Local wisdom that exists amid society can be a source of forming national character. The existence of local wisdom is an ancestral heritage that contains values and norms as character builders. Learning is not only to increase knowledge but also to make people wiser. Okapande, which is a learning media, not only emphasizes knowledge but closeness to God. This research was qualitative research with the use of a literature study. The study results show that the heutagogy learning method can provide skills to communicate, adapt, collaborate, and play a role in the human characteristics forming process.

Abstract

This study aims to study the implementation of mathematics teacher learning at SMK Negeri 2 Sinjai. This study used a qualitative research approach with a case study type of research. The results of the study show that the implementation of teacher learning at SMK Negeri 2 Sinjai includes teachers who pay attention to their students and are included in the category of good quality teachers, because the teacher first prepares matters relating to the learning process starting from the beginning of learning, the core of learning and cover the needs of students. Regarding the learning reflection process, the learning process from the beginning to the end of learning is good. Teachers and students together conclude the learning material studied, make improvements or solutions when finding errors in the teaching and learning process. As for the results of the analysis of the learning process with learning theory that the teacher uses learning theory which not only emphasizes the knowledge of students but the teacher also emphasizes the affective and psychomotor of students.

Abstract

Strategy is a set of components that are interdependent on one another to achieve goals. Learning strategies can also be interpreted as patterns of learning activities that are selected and used contextually, according to the characteristics of students, the conditions of the learning environment, and the surrounding environment as well as the specific learning objectives that are formulated. Peeragogy is an educational strategy that familiarizes students with training to focus on learning to work together and create together. This study aims to examine and describe the application of the peeragogy strategy in the preparation of articles by PGMI study program students. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The subjects of this study were students of the second semester of the PGMI study program. The object of this research is the implementation of the peeragogy strategy. Methods of data collection using observation, interviews, and documentation. The research instrument used observation sheets, interview guides, and document check sheets. Data analysis techniques in this study used Miles and Huberman's theory, including data collection, data verification, data display, and conclusions. The results showed that the application of the peeragogy strategy in preparing student articles required a series of planned activities prepared by the lecturers in learning including identifying the expected results, choosing an approach system, methods and techniques.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe how teachers at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 4 Bone apply self-assessment to their students and the obstacles they face. There were 2 (two) PAI teachers at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 4 Bone used as research subjects in this research. Qualitative techniques with a descriptive research approach were used in this research. Observations and interviews were used as data collection techniques. Inductive reasoning is used to assess data, from the specific to the general one. The findings of this research are that teachers at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 4 Bone provide self-assessment to students during the learning process by observing and also using the curriculum assessment rubric and focusing on the learning process taking place and also outside the classroom. Obstacles faced by teachers in evaluating students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 4 Bone for good learning are a lack of time, a large number of students in one class up to 28 students, and difficulties in guiding students to behave well in accordance with learning objectives that can be achieved. In addition, many students do not complete an honest self-assessment.
