Abstract

This article discloses the two sides of needs in eliciting information, i.e. first evaluating the continuance of skill programs at Madrasah Aliyah, and second, predicting the feasibility degree and the readiness of madrasahs and their administrators in facing the possibility of the change of status to a vocational school (MAK). This article also sheds light on the real condition of the administration of skill programs at Madrasah Aliyah in the last two _years and the feasibility degree as well as the extent of their readiness when the present MAN is converted to vocational school.

Abstract

Pesantren constitutes the oldest Islamic educational institution and functions as the center for Islamitation process and the reproduction of ulama in Indonesia. Any study on `ulama' and pesantren' will give raise to one categoritation of ulama, i.e. `ulama pesantren. This term may refer to the fact that pesantren and ulama are inseparable. Ulamas give birth to pesantrens and pesantrens give birth to ulamas. The article on educational institution As'atilyah Sengkang will throw some light on the 'ulama pesantren' categotitation. As'adiyah cannot be separated from its founder Kyai Haji Muhammad As'ad Al-Bugisiy (1907-1952).

Abstract

Economic crisis which has ravaged Indonesia since 1997 has some cffects on the ability of parents in financingtheir children's education. The result is that the number of dropouts in each type and level of education has steadily increased. Another impact ofthe situation is theinvolzement ofso many school age children in various fields ofwork multingin their dropout. Abstract

School drop-out, illiteracy and genderequariumaresomeoftheseriousproblems faced by developingcountries,Inclonesiais no eurption. In1984, Indonesia dea'ared a state sanctioned movement of six-year basic education, followed by a similar movement of nine obligatory education which should have been thoroughly completed in 2004. It seemed that due to economic crisis, this program had to be stretched out to the especially o(terIndonesia has given its commitment to Dakar accord on Education for All The logical consequence ofthis accond is that by theyear 2015 Indonesia should befreefivm illiteracy and by theyear 2008 the program ofnineyear obligatory education should be completely realized This is a deicult test on the government's commitment in this case This artide is an attempt to describea common phenomenon ofschool-drop-out alangwith the exposure ofthe root ofthe problem, the alternative solution, the constraints, and the critical notes. Abstract

This article is an abstract of the research done by Center for Research and Development of Religious Education at ten Salafiyah Boarding School(PPS) that administer compuhaq basic education. The research is done through astudy case method so that all ten boarding schools constitute a collection of data and information used by the resexrcher tofind out their strengths and weaknesses. This collection of data is then reviewed by using CIPP pattern (Context, Input, Process, Product) introduced by Stuffle beam. The model its self, according to Abdulhamid and Supriyadi, is an evaluation which is oriented more to the course of the program. This kind of evaluation is meant to give feed back to the administrators in case there are any weaknesses found in the program.

Abstract

A lecturer (dosen) is a teacher at higher learning institutions. Their very existence, roles and functions are an undeniable necessity. There will be no education without the presence of a lecturer. A lecturer is the decisive factor in determining the direction and systematics of instructions from the curriculum,facilities,patterns, and even the efforts on how students should study well to gain access to the knowledge and values of Therefore, a lecturer's duty is noble but heavy. But then, what strategy should be used to motivate a lecturer to implement that noble duty? How can a higher learning institution or university create a mature and independent person? What educational system should a university adopt so as not to create people who only grow older but also those who grow up? What significant approach should be used to solve the problem concerning the current ethics of professionalism? It is deemed necesszy that these problems should receive proper attention from the administrators, managers, and supervisors of the educational system at higher learning institutions or unitersities. This ankle will provide answers to the above problems.

Abstract

Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) Musthafawiyah Purbabaru is in the region Mandailing, North Sumatra, where the people are well-known as devoted islamic adherents and according to history, the leading figures of ulamas are mostly originated from this region. In their socio­cultural life, the people of Mandailing has adopted a social system called Dalihan Na Tolu, which, in daily practice, has become less rigid compared with other regions in south Tapanuli, such as Angkola, Sipirok, and Padang Bolak. This Pesantren is the oldest in North Sumatera, and was established by Syekh Musthafa Husein in 1912. After his death in 1955, there have been three changes of leadership and currently it is under the leadership of his grandson, Haji Musthafa Bakri Nasution.

AbstractSince the 1980’s Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia have been varied in types. At first  mainstream  Islamic  educational  institutions included school, madrasah and Islamic schools but in the last two decades new model of variant have been coming out in the forms of Integrated Islamic School (SIT), Islamic School with International Perspective (SIBI), International Islamic School (Intis School), and others with numerous variants and affiliates.  This  becomes  an  interesting  phenomenon and at the same time constitutes a challenge and competitor for mainstream Islamic institutions such as madrasahs. This article describes the development of variants and new trend of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia and offers strategies and innovation in the development of madrasah in the perspective of educational service marketing management through the strategy of rethinking madrasah marketing strategy. Abstrak Sejak tahun 1980-an lembaga pendidikan Islam di Indonesia mengalami perkembangan variasi. Pada mulanya mainstream lembaga pendidikan Islam adalah sekolah, madrasah dan sekolah Islam. Maka pada dua dekade terakhir ini Muncul varian baru model Pendidikan Islam berbentuk Sekolah Islam Terpadu (SIT), Sekolah Islam Berwawasan Internasional (SIBI), International Islamic School (Intis School), dan lain-lain dengan berbagai  varian  dan  afiliasinya.  Hal  ini  menjadi fenomena menarik dan sekaligus menjadi tantangan dan kompetitor bagi lembaga pendidikan Islam mainstream seperti madrasah. Artikel ini mendeskripsikan perkembangan varian dan trend baru lembaga pendidikan Islam di Indonesia dan menawarkan strategi dan inovasi pengembangan madrasah dalam perspektif manajemen pemasaran jasa pendidikan melalui strategi rethingking marketing madrasah.
