Abstract

An era of globalization is characterized by the development of science and technology. This development contributes significant effects, including positive and negative ones. This study reveals that in fact, this kind of advancement causes several negative issues, particularly the decadence of the morality of nation’s generations. Relating to children’s morality, the unity among educational institutions is needed. Family as a small part of society is demanded to build religious values (morality) starting from the home. School as the other institution, attempts to integrate and to build the religious values through a well-systematized curriculum, as well as the role of society in controlling the moral building in daily lives. These three institutions, which affect one another, should possess synergy intensely when expecting the building of effective religious values to children in this era of globalization.

Abstract

The effort to implement Islamic values in the learning process of early childhood education has resulted in various practices. Many foundations, mass organizations, religious, and even political organizations participate in establishing education institutions for early childhood education (PAUD). For instance, Muhammadiyah establishes ABA Nursery School, NU establishes Raudhatul ‘Athfal (RA), private foundations establish their own nursery schools (such as Tunas Melati Nursary School, etc.), as well as what Justice and Welfare Party (PKS) establishes, i.e. Islam-integrated educations institutions of nursery schools. All of the varieties are done to insert Islamic values to the learning process, which is considered to be better. However, the practice of inserting Islamic values in early childhood education is often trapped in two basic practices, i.e. the use of religious symbols and cognitive aspects of religion. To anticipate that condition, this article is trying to formulate a diffusion of innovation in implementing Islamic values in the learning process in early childhood education integratedly and interconnectedly. This means that teaching religion includes not only religious knowledge but also science in the perspective of religion. To formulate the diffusion of innovation, this article applied Michael Fullan’s theory of change as found in his book entitled The Meaning of Education Change and Roger’s adoption pattern. Based on the theories, this article suggests a new formula of developing early childhood education in the future, especially for nursery schools.

Abstract

In addition, gender-based fulfilment of their psychological need will give proportional portion of their need and will avoid gender bias. This is necessary for parents to eliminate gender-based discrimination among their children.Psychological need is discussed based on the theories of Abraham Maslow and Mc. Celland, which states that psychological need should be met and provided by parents so that the children can develop properly. Male and female children are also protected by the Convention on the Rights of the Child approved by the General Assembly of the United Nations on  November 20th 1989 and the role of parents and families is reflected in the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 Year 2003 on National Education System part two of the Rights and Duties of Parents pursuant to Article 7 Paragraph (1) and Paragraph (2). Based on the theories of psychological need and the laws, parents and families have an obligation to provide the fulfillment of psychological needs for children.

Abstract

Bullying is a problem occurring in many schools, including in elementary schools. It is in relation to gender because both focus on oppression. Talking about bullying in relation to oppression is broader than that of gender because in gender study, it is merely viewed based on gender differences. Gender and bullying are interrelated even though gender is not a significant factor causing bullying. In elementary schools, bullying is caused by seniority more than gender factor. To minimize bullying in elementary schools, it is necessary to raise empathy among the studentsand to handle it from the perspective of age or seniority, not gender.

Abstract

All parents certainly expect their children to be pious people. However, unintentionally, they often treat them in the way that contradict with their expectation. So many people are busy doing their job. Reserches proves that children grown up without both parents’ supervision tend to have more problems than those grown up in under both parents’supervision (Dr Fakhir Aqil, ‘Ilm Al-Nafs Al-Tarbawi: 111). For that reson, in building a family, it is necessary to prepare an integrated and guided education program. This kind of program should be able to provide a clear job description for each individual in the family that enables each individual to play his/her roles to reach a condusive family environment for bringingup children optimally.

Abstract

Humans are gifted by God with eight intelligences (multiple intelligences). They are: linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, bodykinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist. Adult (parent) and children also need to understand the concept of the holistic intelligence. People can start early.Children are like stories (homo fabulans) and beings who loved playing (homo ludens). So, to be able to develop intelligence to the fullest, parents need a tool that can trigger such creativity. Fairy tale is one tool that can be used to reach it. In fairy tales summarized the various aspects required in the process of development of intelligence such as language (linguistic), the storyline (the logic of the story), social sensitivity (interpersonal and intrapersonal), conflict (the rhythm), imagination (visual/spatial), movement (kinesthetic), and nature (naturalist) that can be used as a real picture or the prototype for the child to get to know aspects of intelligence they have.
