Abstract

The purpose of this development research was to produce a problem-based learning object-oriented programming module in Information Technology Education Study Program and to know the feasibility level of the module. Development of modules using the 4D development model was adopted from Thiagarajan. The modules were validated by material experts and instructional media experts and were tested in limited groups. This research produced a product based on problem-based learning print module. The module was equipped with relevant illustration images and job sheets that directed the students to solve problems. The module feasibility level by material experts was 91.6 percent in very feasible criteria and 97 percent in very feasible criteria by the media experts. The results of limited group trials reached the level feasibility of 86.8 percent with very decent criteria. Based on the feasibility test, it can be concluded that the problem-based learning module could be used for the learning process.

Abstract

Optimization of SMAW learning is necessary for vocational school students to achieve optimal competence. Problem-Based Learning (PBL) was reported in increasing skill learning outcomes. However, a specific PBL treatment in SMAW subjects has not yet published. This research contributed to how to give the SMAW learning method through the PBL model. This research adopted the conventional model as a control of the PBL experiment model. This research applied quasi-experiment with a population of the X-th grade of the VHS students. The samples were X-Mechanical and X-Automotive class, respectively. To amplify the success of the PBL model, the research visually analyzed the students' weldment results based on the surface quality appearance. PBL model increased the study outcome capabilities of the SMAW method up to 17.5 percent (from 75.9 percent to 93.4 percent). This increment was 30.6 percent higher than the conventional method. Statistical evident showed that the PBL index gain on the t-test (a equals 5 percent) was better and followed by a better physical fact in weld surface quality at the weldment area than the conventional one

Abstract

Students' readiness to work was considered essential for because the more interest that individuals have, in this case, are students; the higher their work readiness in their efforts to achieve the desired goals. This study aimed to determine the effects, both partially and simultaneously, of character-building variables, learning environment, and self-efficacy on work readiness. This research was descriptive quantitative research. The population in this study was the twelve grade students of Automotive Lightweight Vehicle Engineering at Public Vocational High School 1 Trenggalek with a total of 143 students, and the samples were 107 students that were chosen using the proportional random sampling technique. The instruments in this study were questionnaires and documentation. The analysis of research data used descriptive statistical analysis, multiple linear regression analysis, classic assumption test, which included normality test, multicollinearity test and heteroscedasticity test. The hypothesis testing included t-test and f-test, determination coefficient (R2) and significant contribution. Based on the data analysis, the results showed that there was partially and simultaneously significant influence of character building variables, learning environment and self-efficacy on work readiness of the twelve grade students of Automotive Lightweight Vehicle Engineering at Public Vocational High School 1 Trenggalek.

Abstract

Vocational high school quality is determined by the workability of its graduates, the partnerships with business and industry, as well as the professionalism of its teachers. The purpose of this study is to identify the needs of quality improvement of vocational high school teachers in accordance with the Teachers’Disposition Index focusing on student-centered dimension, professionalism, and curriculum‐centered dimension. The study employed a questionnaire survey as the methodology, and the sample of the population was randomly selected 300 teachers in Indonesia. The findings showed that teachers need to improve their quality in the aspect of student-centered dimensions, including effective instructional strategies, responsibility, learning environment, and collaboration with others. While, professionalism and curriculum-centered dimension, including teacher’s knowledge and positive attitude, facilitation of learning, communication skill, and implementation of the curriculum and learning programs. Based on the results, our expectation is that vocational high school teachers should improve teaching quality by developing student-centered learning environment and teachers’ professionalism to make students learn more optimally.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the link and match between the skills and competency of the Agricultural Vocational Secondary School graduates from the Agribusiness of Agricultural Product Processing Competency Skill and the competencies that the industry needs, and identify the mechanism in ensuring the link and match of the Agricultural Vocational Secondary School curriculum of the specific competency. The data was collected through a focus group discussion. The study results showed that the Agricultural Vocational Secondary School Curriculum has linked and matched with the competencies that the industry needs, referring to the certification for level two of the Indonesian National Qualification Framework. There was no formal steps and mechanism to link and match the curriculum of Agricultural Vocational Secondary School in the Competency Skill for Agribusiness of Agricultural Product Processing with the competencies that the industry needs. This study concluded that the curriculum of the Agricultural Secondary Vocational School focuses on The Competency Skill for Agribusiness of Agricultural Product Processing has linked and matched with the Certification Schema for Level Two of the Indonesian National Qualification Framework, set by the National Board for Professional Certification and the Directorate General for Primary and Secondary Education.

Abstract

Based on an interview, 88 percent from 34 students received a score below the minimal completeness criteria in Digital Simulation subject because students were passive in the learning and the usage of uninteresting learning material. This developmental research aimed to design and develop the mobile-based digital simulation learning material to improve students' activeness in Class X TKJ, Public High School Vocational High School 2 Turen and tested the feasibility of teaching materials as learning supplements. This research used the ADDIE model, containing: (1) analyze, (2) design, (3) develop, (4) implement, and (5) evaluate. The feasibility test was performed in Class X TKJ students in Digital Simulation subject. Based on the obtained data, the material validation test from experts was 95 percent, media test from experts obtained 98.74 percent, small group test was 91.2 percent, and field test obtained 94.65 percent. It could be concluded that Simulation Digital learning material was in very feasible category.

Abstract

Project-based Learning (PjBL) and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) are multidisciplinary learning. The combination of PjBL-STEM aimed to improve vocational high school students' technical learning results and working characteristics. Thus, students, after graduating, could compete in the working world. This research used secondary data review method, consisted of 17 international journals, 11 national journals, and three literature books. Based on the secondary data review, the combination of PjBL-STEM would be maximized if the teacher directly involved in the learning, where the teacher acts as inspiratory, motivator, and facilitator. Then, the PjBL-STEM learning was started from designing until result presentation that could improve the creativity and problem-solving skills. PjBL-STEM improved the hard skill in the form of technical learning results and soft skill in the form of working characteristics. Therefore, model integration of PjBL and STEM should be well-prepared. The learning strategy in each lesson must be designed well, and the assessment dimensions must be chosen thoroughly so that multidisciplinary learning could be well-realized in vocational high school in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) measure the effect of learning media utilization and students interest on the learning outcome of server administration subject, 2) find out the impact of the interaction between learning media utilization and students interest on the learning outcome, 3) measure the effect between high learning interest and low learning interest using different learning media on the learning outcome. The research method was a pseudo experiment with 2x2 factorial research design, which meant comparing two groups: experiment group using moodle mobile learning media, and control group using student worksheet and distinguish students interest in low or high. Both groups were given pretest and post-test. The data was obtained through a questionnaire and a formative test. The data processing used two-way ANOVA and SPSS ver. 24 as a processing data aid.

Abstract

Based on the initial observation, students often encountered difficulties in understanding the programming concept that was explained by the teacher due to lack of interest and influence their conceptual understanding. This developmental research aimed to design, develop, and tested the feasibility of learning material to understand the concept of Basic Programming in the odd semester. This research used RnD model, involving research and information collecting, planning, develop a preliminary form of product, preliminary field testing, main product revision, main field testing, operational product revision, operational field testing, final product revision, dissemination and implementation. The feasibility test was performed to students from Class X TKJ at Cendika Bangsa Vocational High School who took Basic Programming subject. Based on the obtained data, the material validation test from experts was 92.14 percent, media test from experts obtained 93.00 percent, small group test was 91.96 percent, and field test obtained 93.61 percent. It could be concluded that Simulation Digital learning material was in very feasible category.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe (1) how much vocationalization insight that junior high school students had on vocational high school as a working world education (X1), understanding the types of skills (X2), and understanding of the working world (X3) on the interest to continue to vocational high school (Y); (2) how much is the vocationalization insight influence in junior high school students year IX comprised of vocational high school as a working world education (X1), understanding the types of skills (X2), and understanding of the working world (X3) on the interest to continue to vocational high school (Y). This research was survey research using a quantitative approach. The samples were 197 students that were determined using a proportionate random sampling technique. The sample size determination referred to the Isaac & Michael table with 5 percent error rate. The data collection used questionnaire, document, and observation. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistic. The results showed that (1) X1, X2, and X3 variables entered the high category with the percentage values of 60 percent, 57 percent, and 51.2 percent or good variables for the interest to continue to vocational high school; (2) the X1, X2, X3 variables influenced the Y variable with the correlation coefficient of 0.580, 0.564, and 0.479 respectively, and together, X1, X2, and X3 variables influenced the Y variable with the correlation coefficient of 0.727.
