Factum: Jurnal Sejarah dan Pendidikan Sejarah promotes research in the broad field of history and Education with particular respect to Indonesia, but not limited to authorship or topical coverage within the region. Contributions are expected from historian, educator, teacher, senior researchers, project managers, research administrators and PhD students at advanced stages of their research, representing both public organizations and private industry. Equally, the journal if intended for scholars and students, reseachers working at research organizations and government agencies, and also for enterprises undertaking applied R&D to lead innovations. The editorial contents and elements that comprise the journal include: Theoretical articles Empirical studies Practice-oriented papers Case studies Review of papers, books, and resources. As far as the criteria for evaluating and accepting submissions is concerned, a rigorous review process will be used. Submitted papers will, prior to the formal review, be screened so as to ensure their suitability and adequacy to the journal. In addition, an initial quality control will be performed, so as to ensure matters such as language, style of references and others, comply with the journal´s style. The below mentioned areas are just indicative. The editorial board also welcomes innovative articles that redefine any history and history education field. Abstract

Solor sebagai primadona perdagangan cendana di Indonesia pada masa itu menyebabkan wilayahnya menjadi incaran kekuasaan oleh banyak pihak. Sebut saja Majapahit, Ternate, Belanda dan Portugis. Selain berhasrat menguasai Solor, mereka juga memperluas pengaruhnya dalam hal politik, ekonomi bahkan agama. Sehingga tidak mengherankan apabila jejak-jejak peninggalan kekuasaan mereka masih tergambar jelas melalui pengaruhnya terhadap kehidupan masyarakat Solor itu sendiri. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh tersebut pada akhirnya menyebabkan pada munculnya masyarakat Solor yang multikultur. Multikulturalisme masyarakat Solor sendiri tercermin melalui berbagai hal, diantaranya dari keragaman etnis, agama dan bahasa.

Abstract

The plantation of PT. Tatar Anyar Indonesia (Cukul Estate) is one of the many tea plantations in West Java. In the next developtment tea plantations has a long history in the distribution of tea plantations in Indonesia, from the Netherlands and will be followed by other businessmen from various countries in accordance with the existing historical period. Especially for plantation Cukul, occur several times of ownership. Starting from 1948-1965 managed by the British company under the name P T Land (Pemanukan and Tjiasem Land), in 1965-1972 through the process of nationalization of the British-owned plantation company has handed over its management to Subang Plantation Company, from 1972 to 2007 through a Government Regulation No.3 / 1971 Cukul plantations managed by PT. Tatar Anyar Indonesia through the joint venture between the foreign company (UK) with the national private. The existence of Cukul plantations give effect to the economy of surrounding communities through employment. In this case, tea pickers become an important part in the process of tea production. For the farmer, policies aimed at to increase the welfare through the provision of facilities such as health, education and other social security (holiday allowance) for the workers’ prosperous life. But the reality is very alarming, many of the workers less prosperous, still lacking attention to child labor, not all family members get health care.

Abstract

Dunia dikejutkan oleh keputusan warga Inggris untuk keluar dari keanggotaan Uni Eropa atau yang dikenal dengan Brexit (Britain exit), lewat hasil refendum yang diadakan pada Juni 2016. Inggris sebagai negara yang memiliki sejarah yang besar dan sangat berpengaruh dalam sejarah-sejarah negara lain, baik dalam ekonomi, militer dan politik, dapat dikatakan ‘terpaksa’ dalam integrasinya dengan Uni Eropa. Hubungan Inggris dan Uni Eropa tidak selamanya berjalan mulus. Banyak dinamika yang terjadi, semenjak bergabungnya Inggris tahun 1973 hingga keluarnya keputusan referendum tahun 2016. Ketertarikan peneliti untuk mengelaborasi fenomena tersebut dituangkan dalam sebuah penelitian sejarah mengenai dinamika antara Inggris dan Uni Eropa sejak integrasi hingga keputusan Brexit. Terutama untuk memahami proses integrasi Inggris, karakteristik Inggris selama menjadi anggota, dan dukungan mayoritas warga Inggris memutuskan Brexit.

Abstract

The article entitled Time Token Arends Implementation in the Debate Method to Improve the Student Information Processing Skill in History Study. The background of this research was the lack of students’ information processing skill, where students often had difficulties on remembering the material easily, the lack of distribution and participation in communicating their opinion and argument as the result of information processing and becomes the characteristic of the passive class. The purpose of this study is to improve students’ information processing skill. Began with the identification, implementation, improvement and obstacles during the conducted ofthis research and the effort that implemented to resolve those obstacles. The research design used Kemmis and Mc. Taggart classroom action research model. Data collection that used is observation, interview and documentation study. Data collection tools or research instrument that used field note, teacher and student guidance observation paper and interview guidance. This research consists of three cycles and three actions. The observation result of each cycle that increased significantly from the first cycle until the third cycle. Some of the recommendation to the teacher, school, otherresearchers and History Education Department, which are the facilities optimization and communication tools in school.

Abstract

The title of this research is “Growing up Students’ Curiosity Character in Learning History Through Puzzle Media in Class XI MIA 3 SMA Negeri 1 Lembang”. This research was held in Class XI MIA 3 SMA Negeri 1 Lembang. This research was motivated by the low of students’ curiosity character in learning history. The purpose of this research is how to grow the students’ curiosity in learning history among senior high school student, because most of them have wrong perception about learning history that considered as a boring lesson and only focused on text memorize without get the comprehensive perception related to the historical events. The developed indicators of the curiosity character in this research are the ability to ask questions, ability to answer questions from friends or teachers, ability to find out the information from books and the internet, then to contribute in group activities and class discussions, ability to interpret images in puzzles, and the ability to provide solutions of each questions in student work sheet (LKS). The research method used in this research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK) by Kemmis and Mc Taggart. It consists of several stages, including the planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Based on the results of research, the character of the students’ curiosity in learning history has increased. It could be seen from the percentage that indicates students’ significant change. The percentage showed the change of students’ curiosity character which was not good enough to the good category. It can be a good recommendation for teachers or school to develop the learning process to grow students’ curiosity character, so that the learning would be more meaningful.

Abstract

TThis research titled “The Dynamics of SocioCulture Life of Chinese Ethnic in Frames of Assimilation Policy by the New Order Government (1966-1998)”. The background why researcher took this problem is due to the interest in the condition of Chinese ethnic and the assimilation policy that applied by New Order Government. The application of assimilation policy has an impact on the limited space of Chinese ethnic lives. The main issue that examined in this research is “How was the New Order Government applied the assimilation policy toward Chinese ethnic in Indonesia specially in socio-culture aspect in 1966-1988?” This problem was examined by using the historical method that divided into four steps: Heuristic, Critic, Interpretation, Historiography. As for the data collection that used is literature studies by examining many literature sources which relevant with the topic. Based on the results, could be explain that First New Order Government applied the assimilation policy influenced by the idea of Chinese figures and made the ide as an official policy to resolve problems of Chinese ethnic that had long been happened in Indonesia. Second, the implementation of assimilation policy was experienced some obstacles and caused some problems on its implementation. Third, assimilation policy in social-culture aspect gave the negative impact that limiting the movement of Chinese ethnic in various areas of life, but gave them the room in economic aspect, assimilation policy was also giving the positive impact in creating multicultural society. The results of this study can be seen that the mutual respects were needed for the creation of harmony between communities in the country.

Abstract

This article aimed to analyze the relationship between civil government and military leader during the Wilopo Cabinet. The main issue was how did the soldiers’ attitude in the events of October 17, 1952, with the stance of the Anty-Parliament during the Wilopo Cabinet? The research method that used was the historical method which according to Helius Sjamsuddin, covering the collecting of the sources (heuristics), source criticism, and historiography. As for the results’ findings in this study is the intervention over the military internal’s matters and civil government which resulted in a worse relationship. Besides, the events of October 17, 1952, can be seen from different points of view, both the party pros and cons point of view by understanding the background of the occurrence of such events. Besides, reactions and responses after the events of October 17, caused friction in the internal military and civil government that could erode the country’sintegration. The soldiers’ attitude in the events put pressure on the civil government to give political policies that took a side but has no intention to take control of the civilian Government directly (The Pretorian of Moderators’ type).

Abstract

This research entitled “The Action of Sarwo Edhie Wibowo in Maintaining Stability of Indonesia National Security (1965-1989)”. The Main problem in this research is “How was Sarwo Edhie Wibowo’s Action in Maintaining Indonesian National Security (1965-1989)”. The Research methodology used in this research is historical method through many steps such as heuristic, source criticism, interpretation and historiography. The researcher used interdisciplinary approaches through sociology and politic study. Sarwo Edhie Wibowo’s position as Commander of The Command of The Army Regiment (RPKAD) was most attracted era. Based on the command of PANGKOSTRAD Major General Soeharto, Sarwo Edhie succeeded to overcome coup of 30th September Movement. Entering New Order era, Sarwo Edhie officiated as Pangdam II/Bukit Barisan and helped in PNI stopping operation in North Andalas and then became Pangdam XVII/Cendrawasih. As Pangdam XVII/Cendrawasih, Sarwo Edhie had a role in succeeding PEPERA execution. In the end of his career, Sarwo Edhie became Governor of AKABRI, ambassador in South Korea, Head of BP7, and last as member of DPR/MPR. Until the end, he was retired and passed away at 10th November 1989.

Abstract

This article entitled "The Comparison of Adam Malik, Mochtar Kusumaatmadja and Ali Alatas Policies Against Independent-Active Foreign Policy In Indonesia During The New Order". The writing is motivated by the author interest to determine the policies taken by the New Order government in maintaining a free and active foreign policy taken by Adam Malik, Mochtar Kusumaatmadja, and Ali Alatas. The main issues in this research is how is the Comparison of Adam Malik, Mochtar Kusumaatmadja And Ali Alatas Policies Against Independent-Active Foreign Policy In Indonesia During The New Order? The method used in the study is the historical method consists of four phases, which are; heuristic, criticism, interpretation and historiography. In reviewing the research question, the author uses an interdisciplinary approach by using some of the concepts from political science. Based on the research, authors knew that Adam Malik, Mochtar Kusumaatmadja, and Ali Alatas had different educational backgrounds so when they are assuming his post as Foreign Minister also can be different. The difference can be seen from their focus in taking a foreign policy. Adam Malik, who is still in transition from the Old Order to the New Order, his focus was to solve the problems that occurred in the previous government. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja focuses on Archipelago and international law. Ali Alatas focuses on human rights issues and to make Indonesia as Chairman of NAM. In addition, The Three Minister of Foreign Affairs through his policy also makes Indonesia active in solving regional and international issues, as well as the Non-Aligned Organizations.

Abstract

This research is entitled “Surastri Karma Trimurti: Sued the Right of Woman Laborers of Indonesia 1945-1954”. This research is the interest of author in the role of S.K Trimurti in defending the rights of women laborers in Indonesia in 1945-1954. The purpose of this research are, 1) Describe the the social-economic woman laborers in Indonesia 1930-1944; 2) Describe the background of S.K Trimurti’s life; 3) Describe how was the efforts of S.K Trimurti for the right of Indonesian woman laborers in 1945-1954; 4) Describe the impact of S.K Trimurti’s struggled on the rights of indonesian woman laborers 1948-1954. This research using the History Method, there are: Heuristics, Critics, and Historiography. The research technic which is used in this paper is literature study by using the relevant books. Based on th research, there was few results. First, The condition of woman laborers during the Dutch and Japanese occupations showed injustice, The condition of women workers is still very apprehensive with various actions that are inconsistent with the dignity of women workers as laborers. Second, some activists who fought for the rights of women laborers as one of the workers were S.K Trimurti who had contributed to the fight before and after independence. Third, the efforts of S.K Trimurti were demonstrated for the welfare and prosecution of justice for women laborers in Indonesia, especially regarding wages and reproductive rights. Fourth is the impact of the struggle was contained in the Work Act of 1948 even until now a legal guideline in the field of labor.
