Abstract

Describing the mistakes that are often made by PGMI students in solving the mathematical problem solving ability test on the material of volumetric shapes is the basic goal of this research. This research belongs to the type of descriptive research with the object of research being fourth semester PGMI students at one of the State Universities (PTN) of North Sumatra province. The sample of data sources collected is 34 people with heterogeneous ability levels. The data source collection instrument was carried out using an essay test. The flow of data analysis is carried out by reducing the data then presenting the data in the form of tables and figures, finally drawing conclusions. The results of this study revealed that the error experienced by students was in understanding the concept of volume incorrectly and it was assumed that they were unable to distinguish the concept of surface area from volume. The next aspect is the lack of accuracy in understanding the text of the question which ultimately solves the problem with wrong perceptions, the answers are not arranged logically and systematically with the stages of problem solving, and errors at the counting stage in getting the final answer. Abstract

Several studies on self-regulated learning show that self-regulated learning is related to learning outcomes. In this study it was concluded that individuals will get good results, if they have good self-regulation. But the researchers found research that contradicted this conclusion. The purpose of this study was to find out how to make self-regulated learning directly proportional to student learning outcomes. Research that can be done to find out the description of the research results is a meta-analysis. Subjects were taken from two scientific databases, namely the thesis database for students majoring in Mathematics Education UNTIRTA and scientific articles from the International Journal of Science and Mathematics Education about self-regulated learning. The data analysis technique used in this study is identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion. The conclusion of this study can be concluded that in determining the way in which self-regulated learning is directly proportional to student learning outcomes, it can be seen from various research categories. Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to describe the errors and causes of student errors in solving math story problems with a two-variable linear equation system based on the Newman procedure. This type of research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach which was carried out at SMP Negeri 3 Salomekko. The subjects of this study consisted of 3 people who were taken each 1 student with low ability, medium ability and high ability. Data collection techniques used test and interview methods, and instrument validation was carried out with 2 expert validation stages. Technical data analysis using descriptive analysis and qualitative data analysis starting from data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. From the results of the study, it was concluded that high-ability subjects made misunderstandings and errors in writing the final answer. Subjects who are capable of making transformation errors, process skill errors and writing errors in the final answer. Low-ability subjects made reading errors, understanding errors, transformation errors, process skills errors and writing errors in the final answer. The causes of student errors are 1) reading errors are caused by haste and confusion in interpreting the meaning of the word. 2) misunderstandings are caused by lack of knowledge in interpreting the meaning of words and forgetting. 3) the transformation error is caused by not understanding the problem and being confused about working on the problem. 4) process skill errors are caused by lack of thoroughness and haste. 5) the error in writing the final answer is caused by lack of thoroughness, haste, and did not find the final result.  Keyword: Student errors, Solving math story problems, Newman procedure

Abstract

Prediction of student performance is an important thing for a university. This is because it can help a university to prevent or treat students who are at risk of failing in their studies early. This study aims to predict student performance at Duta Bangsa Surakarta University (UDB). The model used in this study is a logistic regression model. Logistic regression is a mathematical modelling method used to determine the relationship between a binary dependent variable and one or more independent variables. The results showed that the logistic regression model could be used to predict student performance with MAPE by 8%.  Keyword: Student Performace, Logistic Regression, UDB, MAPE

Abstract

Behl iterative method is a third-order of iterative method with three evaluation of functions for solving nonlinear equation. This paper discuss a modification of Behl iterative method by reduced second derivative using hiperbolic function. The aim of this modification is to improve the order of convergence by keep the number of functional evalutions. The result od  study shows that the new iterative method has a fourth-order of convergence and requires three evalualions of funtion with efficiency index as 41/3 » 1,5874. Numerical simulation is given by using six real functions to test the performance of  the modification of  Behl method  which includes  number of iterations, evaluation of function, and absolute error. The performance of new method is compared with Newton method, Newton-Steffensen, Chun-Kim method, and Behl’s  method. The result of numerical simulation shows that the performance of the modification of Behl’s method is better than others.   Keyword: Behl  method, order of convergence, efficiency index, evaluation of function, numerical simulation

Abstract

Naturies Indonesia is one of the UMKM for spice drinks in Macanan, Klaten, Central Java which is developing. As one of the growing UMKM, Naturies Indonesia is experiencing problems related to the distribution of its products. Naturies Indonesia has incurred transportation costs of Rp.442,100.00 per week in distributing its products to 5 distributors (Kudus, Jakarta, Shopee, Bandung, and offline). Due to human resource constraints, Naturies Indonesia does not yet have a thorough plan to reduce shipping costs in allocating products from production sites to customers or distributors. Through this applied research, this research aims to find the optimization of product delivery costs. Data were collected through interviews and documentation, then analyzed using the Northwest Corner and Vogel's Approximation methods. Analysis using the Northwest Corner method found a shipping cost of IDR 431,600.00, while the Vogel's Approximation method found a shipping cost of IDR 427,900.00. The shipping costs found were actually lower than the financing that had been issued so far.  Keyword: northwest cor, spice drinks, optimization of transportation, UMKM Naturies Indonesia, vogel’s approximation

Abstract

Dried tumpeng is one of the traditional ceremonies used by Hindus in Bali. This study aims to examine the elements of STEAM contained in dried tumpeng. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with an ethnographic design. The subject of this research is the community of entrepreneurs of dried tumpeng in Guwang Village, Sukawati District, Gianyar. The data in this study were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data was then analyzed in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and data conclusion. To get valid and objective data, triangulation method is used. The results showed that there were STEAM elements in the process of making dried tumpeng, namely the scientific element can be seen from the coloring process, adhesives and drying techniques used, the technological element can be seen from the dried tumpeng printing equipment, the machine element can be seen from the design of the printing equipment used, the art element can be seen from the various colors of the dried tumpeng, and the mathematical element can be seen from the raw production costs, income, sales, losses, and the comparison of the materials used. These STEAM elements can be used in social arithmetic learning. Students can be asked to make a project of making dried tumpeng  from the beginning of manufacture, packaging to even the sales stage so that learning can be more meaningful. The purpose of this research is to develop interactive multimedia applications that are valid, realistic, and practical for economic mathematics subjects in high school on interest on savings and taxes. This research uses development procedures that include: (1) evaluation and analysis of needs, curriculum, materials, and learning resources, (2) designing product designs, (3) developing product designs, (4) evaluating the feasibility of product designs, (5) evaluating product design. The research instruments and tools used included: media and material expert validation sheets as well as questionnaires on student responses. Subjects who contributed to data collection were 30 students who were included in the experimental class and 30 students in the control class. Meanwhile, the trial phase involved 30 students who had received single flower material. A limited test was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Semarang. In accordance with the acquisition of accuracy from the validator getting very good criteria from learning media experts obtaining 89.6%, learning material experts obtaining 89.4%, then from the acquisition of student response questionnaires it shows 88% of students are very interested in using this interactive multimedia. In accordance with the results of the study, it can be concluded that interactive multimedia learning resources in terms of increasing the cognitive capacity of high school students have proven to be accurate and effective to be applied to the teaching and learning process of high school mathematics.
