Abstract

This study aims to see the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on students' interest in learning mathematics while studying online. This research is included in qualitative research with descriptive method in which the research uses survey techniques with a questionnaire instrument of interest in learning mathematics to collect data on student interest. The data analysis technique used in this research is the flow model which consists of reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that as many as 49.99% of students of the PGMI study program had an interest in learning mathematics in online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic in low grade MI/SD mathematics studies courses. This means that 50.01% of PGMI study program students have no interest in learning mathematics online.

Abstract

Dalam kelas pembelajaran matematika terlihat siswa bersikap pasif dan apabila diberi tugas siswa tidak berusaha menyelesaikan soal matematika tetapi menyalin hasil kerja temannya. Hal ini menunjukkan rendahnya kepercayaan diri matematis siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui peningkatan kepercayaan diri matematis siswa setelah diterapkannya pembelajaran berbasis masalah dan melihat interaksi antara gender dan pembelajaran terhadap peningkatan kepercayaan diri matematis siswa. Jenis penelitian ini eksperimen semu dengan sampel penelitian ada dua kelompok yaitu kelompok siswa kelas VIII-5 sebanyak 36 siswa (22 laki-laki dan 14 perempuan) dan kelompok siswa kelas VIII-6 sebanyak 37 siswa (22 laki-laki dan 15 perempuan). Data diperoleh dengan penyebaran skala kepercayaan diri terhadap seluruh sampel penelitian, dilanjutkan dengan analisis data dengan anava dua jalur. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa (1) Siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran berbasis masalah lebih tinggi peningkatan kepercayaan diri matematisnya daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional (2) tidak terdapat interaksi antara gender dengan pembelajaran terhadap peningkatan kepercayaan diri matematis siswa.

Abstract

Communication skills are a competency that students must have from an early age. This study aims to analyze the improvement of students' science communication skills through Argument Driven Inquiry learning with an approach in presenting science learning. This research approach is classroom action with two cycles. Data on students' science communication skills were seen from observation, and qualitative descriptive data analysis techniques and presentations on increasing science communication competence. Students' communication skills showed a significant increase in each indicator, namely scientific argumentation skills, understanding of energy contexts, fluency and ability to respond to opinions. These four indicators found that the ability to respond to student opinions was still in the medium category, while the other three indicators were in the high category. Presentation of students' science communication skills from the first meeting. Second, third and fourth were 39.4%, 47.7%, 65.3%, and 76.4%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a significant relationship between students' mathematical self-efficacy and student learning outcomes in elementary grades. The research method used is descriptive method with the correlation approach. The instrument used for both variables is a scale of self-efficacy to see students' mathematical self-efficacy and student learning outcomes from the Final Examination (UAS). The self-efficacy scale contains 20 statements containing four alternative answers. The population of this study were all elementary school students, namely 156 students with a sample of 63 students. Data were analyzed with Pearson followed by t-test, previously obtained that the data of self-efficacy and mathematics learning outcomes were normally distributed and linear. Data on self-efficacy is 0.173> 0.05 and data on student mathematics learning outcomes is 0.2> 0.05. Linearity was fulfilled at 0.04 <0.05. Obtained tcount = 2,9255 while ttable = 1,9996, so tcount> ttable means that Ho is rejected. It can be stated that there is a significant relationship between self-efficacy and mathematics learning outcomes of elementary school low grade students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine students' mathematical abilities in algebra and numbers and then these abilities are viewed from socioeconomic status and mathematical self-efficacy. This study uses a descriptive design that will be examined by PGMI students at a state university in North Sumatra. The data was obtained by looking at the scores from the students' mathematical ability tests, the scores from the questionnaires and the mathematical self-efficacy scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques using the normal curve approach. The results showed that 1) the mathematical abilities of students who had low, medium, and high socioeconomic status were classified as the same for each category with low results, 2) the mathematical self-efficacy of students who had high and moderate had low mathematical abilities.

Abstract

The ability of teachers to carry out learning evaluations including making tests based on mathematical hard skills is still low, not all teachers have studied the assessment guidebooks in elementary schools, descriptive tests can identify understanding of mathematical concepts and measure students' problem solving abilities. The solution offered is the provision of training in making descriptive tests based on hard skills mathematics for teachers of SDS IT Darussalam, Deli Tua District. This training method is in the form of lectures, workshops, question and answer, practice, and exercises. The understanding ability of the trainees is 85%, while the results of making essay tests based on mathematical hard skills are 82%. It can be stated that the competence of teachers in making hard skills-based mathematical test descriptions can increase.

Abstract

Describing the mistakes that are often made by PGMI students in solving the mathematical problem solving ability test on the material of volumetric shapes is the basic goal of this research. This research belongs to the type of descriptive research with the object of research being fourth semester PGMI students at one of the State Universities (PTN) of North Sumatra province. The sample of data sources collected is 34 people with heterogeneous ability levels. The data source collection instrument was carried out using an essay test. The flow of data analysis is carried out by reducing the data then presenting the data in the form of tables and figures, finally drawing conclusions. The results of this study revealed that the error experienced by students was in understanding the concept of volume incorrectly and it was assumed that they were unable to distinguish the concept of surface area from volume. The next aspect is the lack of accuracy in understanding the text of the question which ultimately solves the problem with wrong perceptions, the answers are not arranged logically and systematically with the stages of problem solving, and errors at the counting stage in getting the final answer. Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in student creativity after the implementation of learning with the Project based Learning model and to see the interaction between initial abilities and learning to increase student creativity. The type of research used was a quasi-experimental with a sample of 25 students in class 5A in the experimental class and 29 students in class 5B in the control class. The instrument used is the observation sheet of student creativity. The instrument was prepared based on indicators of student creativity as many as 25 statements with four alternative answers. Data were obtained by observing using observation sheets of student creativity for all research samples. The data obtained were analyzed with two-way ANOVA. The results showed that (1) the increase in the creativity of students who received learning using the Project based Learning model was higher than students who received conventional learning in thematic learning (2) There was no interaction between initial abilities and learning towards increasing student creativity in thematic learning.

Abstract

Describing the ability of PGSD students to understand mathematical concepts in the subject of basic mathematical concepts, as well as identifying students' difficulties in these subjects are the basic objectives of this study. This research is a qualitative research using descriptive method. 23 students of the PGSD study program were used as subjects in this study. Data collection in this study used tests and documentation. The data analysis used was descriptive qualitative analysis. The results of data analysis obtained on the average score of students' ability to understand mathematical concepts is 60.35 so that they are grouped in the sufficient category. As for the details, there are 2 students in the very good category, 6 students in the good category, and 15 students in the sufficient category. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that the ability to understand mathematical concepts of PGSD students in the subject of basic mathematical concepts is still in the sufficient category.

Abstract

This community partnership program (PKM) service activity is carried out with the aim of (1) providing knowledge and understanding to teachers regarding student worksheets (LKPD) with the project method starting from the planning, implementation and project-based assessment stages, (2) guiding teachers by providing assistance in making student worksheets (LKPD) using the project method, (3) training teacher creativity in developing learning tools. The PKM service partners are teachers at SDN No 106193 Bakaran Batu Kec. Mirror beach. The method used in this activity is training, discussion, mentoring. This activity was held in September 2022. Training and discussions were held for 2 days at SDN No 106193 Bakaran Batu followed by 1 month of mentoring. The outputs achieved from the results of community service activities that have been carried out at SDN No 106193 Bakaran Batu Kec. Pantaimirmiri is that teachers understand about making student worksheets (LKPD) with the project method, teachers succeed in making student worksheets (LKPD) with the project method, teachers can design learning tools well, especially making LKPD with the project method and apply it in learning.
