Abstract

Basic Chemistry II course is a repetition and development of chemistry which have been learned by students in high school. Therefore, the learning outcomes of student at the course Basic Chemistry II was expected in the high category. Through observations and interviews with students was obtained information that most of the students was difficult to understand about the material. It is necessary to increase the quality of learning in order to better and complete student results through class action research by applying problem-based learning. This class action research aims to improve and complete the learning ability of students of study program of Chemical Education FKIP Riau University academic year 2011/2012 in the course of Basic Chemistry II. This study was conducted in three cycles. The increasing of mastery learning outcomes of students from the cycle I to Cycle II was 25% and from Cycle II to Cycle III was 54.17%. Improving the ability of students to learn this by: 1) Teaching takes place in groups of 5 or 6 people. 2) Using instructional media in the form of textbooks, learning2materials and Student Work Sheet. 3) Lecturers encourage student to be active when group activities. 4) Lecturers provide guidance in groups and classical. 5) Time for classical discussion was long.Keywords : Basic Chemistry II, Problem-based learning, Mastery learning outcomes.

Abstract

The study has been conducted to natural produce based Student- Worksheet (SW) using red fruit buds for acid-base topic. This study is classified as the developmental research. The produced worksheet has been validated through 3 assessments criteria : format, content, and technical. The average score is 3.30 which is considered appropiate to use. From the limited try out at SMA Tribakti and SMA Taruna Pekanbaru, the average gained score is 3.21 which is include as appropiate. From the teachers assessment, the average score is 3.55. That is categorized in to appropiate. The produced worksheet is considered appropiate to be used for the lab work for the acid-base topic.Keyword : Student-worksheet, natural produce, and red fruit buds, acid-base

Abstract

The research about application of word Square cooperative learning model has been done to improve student’s achievement in colloid matter at 11th SMKN 2 Pekanbaru. The purpose of this research was to know if the application of Word Square cooperative learning model could increase student achievement in colloid matter. Subject of this research were students at XI Kimia 1 class and XI Kimia 2 class in academic year 2011/2012. XI Kimia 1 class was randomly selected as experiment class and XI Kimia 2 class as control class. Research results revealed that application cooperative learning Word Square model was capable to improve student’s achievement in colloid matter. This research pretest-posttest design by using t-test (t arithmetic> t table; 3.49 > 1.67). The application this model capable to increase students achievement in colloid matter about 13.71%.Keywords: cooperative learning, Word Square, colloid and learning achievement

Abstract

The development of research aimed at developing Contextual-based Student Worksheet valid, practical, and effective for learning chemistry inorganic. The method used is development research (development research). The research was conducted in six months and consists of four stages, namely the definition phase (define), the design (design), development (develop), pendesiminasian (desseminate). New research to the development stage. The research data were collected through evaluation sheets filled in by the validator. The results showed that the Student Worksheet based Contextual of learning material developed for the reduction of oxidation, elements and complex compounds have valid criteria in terms of format, technical and content.Keywords: Development, student Worksheet, contextual, Inorganic chemistry

Abstract

The implementation of cooperative learning model Question Student Have been implemented in Class XI SMAN 5 Pekanbaru aims to increase the activity and student achievement on the subject of the solubility and solubility product. This study is experimental with pretest-posttest design. The research sample consisted of grade XI IPA 4 as an experiment and as a class XI IPA 6 controls were randomly selected from two classes homogeneous. Applied experimental class of cooperative learning model Question Student Have whereas the control class without the application of the cooperative model Question Student Have. Data collection techniques use the observation sheet and test Based on observations of classroom learning activities has conducted experiments during the process of learning activities in accordance with the model applied and obtained tcount > t table (2.258> 1.67) means the implementation of cooperative learning models Question Student Have can improve student achievement on the subject of solubility and product solubility in class XI SMA 5 Pekanbaru, with an increase of 6.53%.Keywords: cooperative Question Student Have, activity and Learning Achievemen

Abstract

It has been applied the cooperative learning model Listening Team to improve thequality of learning in Physical Chemistry I Course on the first semester of the academicyear 2014/2015. The research is a pre-experimental research with single one shot casestudy and one group pretest-posttest design. The research results showed that theapplication of cooperative learning model Listening Team can improve the quality oflearning in the Course of Physical Chemistry I. The results of the quality of the learningprocess on the subjects of Physical Chemistry I showed that the interaction of studentswith learning resources are positive trend. The average value of Task Sheet To Students(TSS) was over than 80 for each meetings and group awards varies for each meeting.The competence or ability of students obtained based on the assessment of learningoutcomes are an average N-Gain value by 0.55 into in improvement the mediumclassification and the mastery level in classical by 60%.Keywords: Cooperative, Learning, Listening Team, Physical Chemistry I, Quality

Abstract

Research on the ability of participants Professional Teacher Education Program (TEP) Chemistry FKIP University of Riau in implementing have been done Lesson Study (LS) as the Learning Community (LC) with the aim of improving professional competence as chemistry teacher candidates. The number of participants total 3 TEP guided implement the LSLC in Chemistry Laboratory FKIP and application implemented in SMAN 12 Pekanbaru. Learning implementation plan compiled by participants of TEP Chemistry Education has improved the category of B (Good) on the plan I and II to A (Very Good) on plan III. Value competence participants TEP Chemistry Education in the implementation of learning also showed an improvement of category K (Less) on the open lesson I and II into a C (Enough) in the open lesson III. The results of this study prove that the application LSLC at SMAN 12 Pekanbaru can develop professional competence of participants TEP Chemistry Education FKIP University of Riau in a sustainable and secure the rights of all students to get a high quality education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of process and activity learning used chemical poster elements to improve students learning activities in senior high school 1 in Pekanbaru in chemical elements subject. The method used an action research that consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Responden were students of class XII MIA 7 Senior high school 1 in Pekanbaru. The indicators research was the implementation of chemical elements according to the poster as syntax, student activities during the learning process was able to achieve both categories. The research instrument used question for post test and student activity observation sheet. The results showed that the learning activities using chemical poster elements are at a good stage with achievement, in the first cycle was 60.67% and the second cycle was 68.08%.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to describe the life skills of students in learning chemistry and reveals the connections between life skills. The methods used in this research is descriptive research. The subject of research as much as 144 students of class XI in one of senior high school in the city of Padang. The selection of samples was conducted with stratified random sampling technique that divides students into 3 groups based on the level of their intelligence (IQ). Research data taken with observation, interview guidelines and tests of the student’s life skills. The results showed that the personal skills for students classified as well. The social skills of students is very good, students are able to manage their emotions very well, able to communicate well, has good interpersonal relationships, and understanding the other person very well. Student's academic prowess is quite good the ability of critical thinking, creative thinking, problem solving, and decision making students are on a category is good enough. The connection between life skills showed that a) there is a weak relationship between personal proficiency students with social skills among students with the values of the coefficients of correlation 0.33, b) there is a very weak relationship between students personal skills with the academic skills of students with the value of the correlation coefficient 0,004, and c) there is a very weak relationship between social skills among students with the academic skills of students with the value of the correlation coefficient 0,062.

Abstract

This research aims to develop e-book based teaching materials for senior high school chemistry lesson at the subject of atomic structure. The research method used is research development. The research used Four D Model as a guide which is implemented in four stages are define, design, develop, and disseminate. This research is only up to the development stage. Research data were collected through assessment form filled by 4 validators, 2 material professional and 2 media professional. The result showed of the assessment provided by validators each aspect considered was a very good category. The conclusion shows develop e-book based teaching materials for senior high school chemistry lesson at the subject of atomic structure have the valid criteria in terms of content and construction.
