Teaching English in particular cultural contexts requires supporting skills, such as situating teaching strategies and learning material with students’ conditions and intercultural sensitivity. This study explores how the lecturers teach English to EFL Students in a culturally specific context. The design of this study used multiple case studies. This study's data collection uses semi-structured interviews through Zoom meetings with two English lecturers who taught English in Gorontalo and Papua. Then the data analysis used a thematic analysis. The findings of this study show that teaching English in Gorontalo and Papua needs some supporting competencies, such as intercultural competence (lecturers’ ability to adapt to the new culture and environment and understand how students behave, think, and interact) and pedagogical competence (lecturers’ ability in formulating, adapting, and negotiating appropriate teaching method and learning material with students need). The results of this study expand the discourse surrounding the instruction of English as a foreign language within culturally-specific contexts, highlighting the significance of multilingual education in the Indonesian context. Therefore, this study implies that lecturers who teach in a culturally different context should have those competencies so they are not culture shock.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendiskripsikan solidaritas masyarakat dalam pelaksanaan tradisi pesta ponan di desa Poto kabupaten Sumbawa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kulalitatif. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah metode observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teori Miles dan Huberman yaitu dengan teknik mereduksi data, display data dan verifikasi data. Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa ada dua jenis solidaritas masyarakat dalam pelaksanaan tradisi pesta ponan di desa poto kabupaten Sumbawa yaitu solidaritas mekanik dan solidaritas organik.

Penelitian ini adalah sebuah studi untuk mendeksripsikan nilai-nilai multikultural yang terdapat dalam sastra anak Sumbawa. Sastra anak yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yakni: (1) Cerita Jompong Suar, (2) Cerita Marbat Bore, (3) Cerita Lala Bunte, (4) Cerita Kakek Aca di Puncak Sekunyit. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif analisis isi (content analysis) yang berfokus pada satu sasaran (subjek), yaitu cerita-cerita anak Sumbawa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan studi pustaka dan wawancara sejumlah narasumber. Wacana dianalisis menggunakan teknik cuplikan (sampling) yaitu dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data kemudian dianalisis dengan model interaktif (interactive model of analysis). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai multikultural yang terdapat di dalam keempat cerita antara lain: nilai kultural/kebudayaan, nilai agama, nilai kesetaraan, nilai persaudaraan/gotong royong, nilai toleransi, nilai keadilan, nilai kepemimpinan/demokrasi.

The research focuses on exploring the structure and function of the Karimongkong folk tale through a qualitative approach. Three analytical perspectives—structural, functional, and interpretive—are employed. The data is obtained by downloading the story, and thoroughly analyzing its components such as characters, setting, theme, plot, and underlying message. The story's significance is examined within the social and cultural contexts. The findings reveal that Karimongkong portrays the journey of a determined young man from a humble background who confronts obstacles and rejection, conveying moral values of resilience, familial love, and loyalty. Set in the village of Muer within the Plampang district, the tale revolves around the themes of determination and courage in the face of challenges, progressing from character introduction to Karimongkong and his family's blissful life. While the function of this folklore is used to protect people's expectations, legalize the rules of customary institutions, regulate behavior, and create cultural identity. This research enhances comprehension of the structure and purpose of folk tales, which inspire bravery, determination, and affection.

One approach that can be used is the structuralism approach. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to understand how the narrative structure in the novel influences the meaning and message that the author wants to convey. This study will use the method of structuralism analysis to identify important elements in the novel, such as characters, plot, setting, theme, etc., and how these elements are interrelated and influence the meaning and message to be conveyed. This analysis reveals that the analysis of structuralism in the novel "Warisan Masa Silam" by V. Lestari shows that this novel has strong characteristics and elements in building a story, including characters, plot, themes, and settings. This analysis result makes this novel a literary work that deserves further enjoyment and study.

Penelitian ini fokus pada analisis wacana kritis terhadap Surat Edaran Gubernur NTB tentang pencegahan penularan COVID-19 selama masa libur panjang dan cuti Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW pada tahun 2020. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini yaitu dengan menggunakan dokumentasi, di mana data yang relevan dikumpulkan dari sumber-sumber tertulis yang terkait dengan Surat Edaran tersebut. Teknik analisis data penelitian ini mengadopsi analisis wacana kritis model Fairclough. Fokus utama adalah mengungkap makna eksplisit dan tersembunyi dari surat edaran tersebut, serta memahami bagaimana bahasa digunakan untuk mempertahankan struktur kekuasaan sosial dan ideologi pemerintah. Hasil analisis mengungkap bahwa surat edaran ini tidak hanya memberikan informasi eksplisit terkait kebijakan pencegahan COVID-19, tetapi juga mencerminkan dinamika kekuasaan, ideologi, dan struktur sosial melalui penggunaan bahasa. Surat edaran tersebut menggunakan bahasa yang mencerminkan otoritas dan kekuasaan pemerintah. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa bahasa dalam surat edaran gubernur NTB tidak hanya sebagai alat komunikasi informasi, tetapi juga sebagai instrumen kekuasaan dan ideologi. Analisis wacana kritis memberikan wawasan mendalam mengenai peran bahasa dalam konteks krisis dan kontribusi nya dalam memahami serta membentuk pandangan publik terhadap kebijakan pencegahan COVID-19.

Tujuan - Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konten budaya yang terkadung dalam pantun yang hampir terkikis pada pemahaman masyarakat suku Mbojo sebagai pelaku budaya. Desain / metodologi / pendekatan -Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kulaitatif deskriptif. Sementara teknik yang digunakan untuk menganalisis data adalah dengan menggunakan teori yang dikemukankan oleh Koetjaraningrat. Temuan/ Hasil - Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pantun suku mbojo mengandung normanorma dan aktivitas yang terpola yang biasa dilakukan oleh leluruh pada jaman dahulu. Namun, kebisaan tersebut sudah sulit di temukan ditengah masyarakat bahkan telah punah. Hal itu disebabkan karena perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan yang telah mempengaruhi pola pikir generasi penerus serta melemahnya pemahaman masyarakat terhadap kebiasaan yang telah dilakukan pada jaman dahulu.

This study aims to examine Dinullah Rayes's poetry which uses the symbol of nature, "jati" by using: (1) heuristic reading; (2) hermeneutic reading; (3) matrix; (4) models; and (5) the variants, in the Jati Niskala Poetry by Dinullah Rayes (2014). This research is library research, because the primary data and secondary data are in the form of books or related documents. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with Riffaterre's semiotic approach and the data collection technique used in this study is the documentation method. The results and conclusions of this study are as follows: (l) The importance of carrying out all the commands of Allah SWT; (2) Never give up on all the tests given by Allah SWT while living in the world; (3) The importance of establishing friendly relations with fellow human beings while living in the world; (4) The importance of not destroying and always protecting the environment; (5) Always good at being grateful for all the blessings that Allah SWT has given to humans while living in the world.

The purpose of this research is to describe the language style of repetition of alliteration and assonance found in the Anthology of Guru Musafir Ilmu's Poetry: 97 Guru 3 Negara. This study utilizes stylistic theory as a tool to help researchers dissect the object of study. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The source of the data is the Poetry Anthology of Pilgrims of Science by 97 Teachers from 3 Countries. The data analyzed in this study are the language style of repetition of alliteration and assonance in the Anthology of Guru Musafir Ilmu's Poems by 97 Teachers of 3 Countries. The results of this study indicate that language style is used by poets to add aesthetic value to the poetry they produce. The use of repetition language style in the form of alliteration serves to emphasize something that is many and continuous and emphasizes an identity. The use of repetition language style in the form of assonance serves to emphasize the personality and identity of a person or character in poetry, emphasizes the personality of a person or character in poetry, and confirms the personality of a person or character in the poem.
