Abstract

Background; Avocado (Persea americana Mill.) is a plant that is widely grown in Indonesia. Peel avocado is known to contain secondary metabolites such as flavonoids which are useful as antioxidants. This study aims to determine the peel of avocado (Persea americana Mill.) in the form of ethanol extract can be formulated into a foundation cream preparation which at a certain concentration has antioxidant activity. Method; The study was conducted using an experimental method, using peel avocado test material (Persea americana Mill.) processed by maceration using 96% ethanol extract formulated into a foundation cream preparation in a concentration of 1.5%; 2%; 2.5%; and blank. Examination of the physical quality of the preparation includes homogeneity test, pH test, viscosity test, stability test, irritation test, moisture test and antioxidant activity test. Result; The results showed that the yield of peel avocado (Persea americana Mill.) was 12.99%. All formulations met the requirements of the gel evaluation test with a pH range of 6.0-6.5. After doing the cycling test, it was 5.9-6.2. The viscosity results are 15,250-20,050 mPa.S. All formulations are homogeneous and stable. Formulation 3 has an IC50 value of (54.74µg/mL) in the "strong" antioxidant category and has a % recovery value of 67.23%.

Abstract

The development of a method for identification and determination of thiamphenicol by Fourier Transform Infrared will provide convenience to developers because it is fast and easy for analysis. The research was carried out by utilizing the solubility of thiamphenicol in methanol with three stages, namely method development, sample analysis, and method validation. The method development stage showed that the specific peak of thiamphenicol was at a peak with a wavenumber of 1694.1 cm−1; this specific peak of thiamphenicol was used for qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis of thiamphenicol in the capsule dosage form. The sample analysis showed that all analyzed thiamphenicol in capsule dosage form showed good results both qualitatively and quantitatively. Qualitatively all the samples analyzed showed a specific peak at specific positions and specific wavenumbers. These results meet the requirements for containing thiamphenicol in the dosage form. Quantitatively all the samples analyzed ranged from 97.97% to 102.24% by peak height and peak area. These results meet the requirements for active substance levels in general preparations within 90.0% to 110.0%. The method validation for peak height and peak area showed that the accuracy parameter had a recovery percentage of 100.28% and 100.41% (between 98.0% to 102.0%), the precision parameter with a relative standard deviation of 0.31% and 0.37% (not more than 2.0%), and the linearity parameter with a correlation coefficient of 0.9999 and 0.9997 (not less than 0.99). The limit of detection value was 0.2971 mg/mL and 0.5338 mg/mL, the limit of quantitation value was 0.9004 mg/mL and 1.6176 mg/mL, the range for both was 80% to 120%, and the specificity for both met the requirement. The Fourier Transform Infrared method has been successfully developed, applied, and validated for qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis of thiamphenicol in capsule dosage form.

Abstract

Puasa merupakan salah satu ibadah dengan kegiatan menahan diri dari makan dan minum. Saat berpuasa, konsumsi obat secara oral tidak diperbolehkan. Penggunaan obat-obatan dengan waktu pemakaian tiga sampai empat kali dalam sehari saat berpuasa akan mempengaruhi jadwal pemakaian yang dapat menyebabkan efek terapi kurang maksimal. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman kepada masyarakat yang berada di sekitar Lapangan Stadion Teladan Kota Medan terhadap penggunaan obat-obatan ketika sedang berpuasa. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan oleh dosen-dosen dan perwakilan mahasiswa Universitas Tjut Nyak Dhien. Dalam pelaksanaannya, kegiatan ini disambut baik oleh masyarakat yang berada dilokasi tersebut. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan melakukan pendekatan yang baik kepada masyarakat, memberikan beberapa pertanyaan terkait penggunaan obat khususnya saat berpuasa yang diketahui oleh masyarakat, dan selanjutnya penyampaian informasi berupa edukasi terkait dengan penggunaan obat saat puasa. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pemahaman yang lebih mendalam terkait cara penggunaaan obat saat puasa yang ditunjukkan berdasarkan kemampuan masyarakat dalam memberikan jawaban dengan benar setelah diberikan beberapa pertanyaan kembali. Dari kegiatan ini diharapkan masyarakat dapat menggunakan obat-obatan yang baik dan benar saat sedang menjalankan ibadah puasa agar diperoleh terapi pengobatan yang maksimal.
