Abstract

Air pollution due to industrial activities is increasing worldwide, including in Indonesia. Particulate Matter (PM) is one of the air pollutant parameters that can cause health problems, especially respiratory problems in communities living at the weaving industrial area. The aimed of this study was to analyze the environmental health risk  of human exposure due to dust exposure in communities around the weaving industry center. This research was an observational study using an environmental health risk analysis approach. Dust parameters were measured in as many as ten indoors and five outdoors around the weaving industry. The dust parameters measured were PM 2.5, PM 10, and Total Solid Particulate (TSP) concentration indoor and outdoor around the weaving industry areas. Dust measurements were carried out in the morning and afternoon using an Aerocet. The average results of dust measurement indoor were PM 2.5 (0.182 mg/m3), PM 10 (0.443 mg/m3), TSP (0.556 mg/m3), while for outdoor PM 2.5 (0.185 mg/m3). PM 10 (0.381 mg/m3), TSP (0.419 mg/m3). The average indoor of PM 2.5 intake was 0.013 mg/kg-day, PM10 (0.031 mg/kg-day), and TSP (0.038 mg/kg-day), and outdoor were PM 2.5 (for adult 0.064 mg/kg-day, for children 0.014 mg/kg-day), PM10 (for adult 0.132 mg/kg-day and for children 0.292 mg/kg-day), TSP (for adult 0.146 mg/kg-day and for children 0.322 mg/kg-day). All of them were more than Reference Concentration (RfC), and the Risk Quotient of PM10 and PM2.5 were more than 1. Exposure to PM10 and PM2.5 are unsafe or likely to result in non-carcinogenic effects on the residents in the next 30 years. The finding of this study is to provide information the dust concentration in the environment, the Risk Quotient of dust exposure in the communities around the weaving industry, and strategies for managing risks due to dust exposure in the traditional weaving industry center. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a risk management scenario.

Abstract

Musculoskeletal complaints are the most common complaints experienced by nurses in health services. This condition is caused by several factors including nurses' work attitude, length of work, work shifts, and type of work. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of giving muscle stretching exercises to reduce musculoskeletal complaints in nurses at Bengkulu City Health Services. This study was a quasi-experimental research design with a pre and post-test approach with a control group design. The population of this study were nurses in Bengkulu City health services. The sampling method was consecutive sampling. The research sample was 60 respondents divided into 30 respondents in the treatment group and 30 respondents in the control group. The analysis used Paired sample t-test and an independent sample t-test with 0.05. The results of the analysis showed a significant 2-way p-value of 0.000 <0.05, so there was a significant difference between the control and treatment groups. So, it can be concluded that there was a decrease in musculoskeletal complaints in nurses at the Bengkulu City Health Center after being given the Workplace Stretching Exercise (WSE) intervention which was more effective in the treatment group than in the control group.

Abstract

Adolescents are included in the high-risk age group. Increased free sex behavior in adolescents has an impact on sexual and reproductive health problems. This phenomenon is supported by the increasing number of sexually transmitted diseases in adolescents. Several programs and policies have been adopted to improve adolescent reproductive health through coaching and counseling. Adolescents have confidence in their peers so peer education is an alternative intervention in increasing awareness of reproductive health. This study aims to comprehensively analyze research articles that discuss the effectiveness of peer education on knowledge and attitudes about sexual behavior in adolescents. The research design uses a literature review through the journal databases PubMed, Science Direct, and EBSCO. Researchers analyzed 18 research articles based on the inclusion criteria set, namely the time of publication in the 2015-2020 range, using English, being accessible for free, and teenage respondents. The exclusion criteria consisted of married adolescent respondents and adolescent sexual violence behavior. Keywords using peer education, knowledge, attitude, sexual behavior. Data analyzed using a table containing the author, year, method, sample, and research results. The results of the analysis of research articles show that peer education is a preventive and promotive effort in increasing knowledge and attitudes about sexual behavior in adolescents. The role of peers is an important component in this health education model. This model can be integrated and modified in adolescent reproductive health services in health care facilities.
