Abstract

The purpose of this research was to identify and analyze tourist's perception whom visited Medan as friendly city. tourist's perception was focused on safety factors of Medan city. tourist who never visitied and tourist who has visited Medan was mainly analyze. 112 international tourist was held as respondent.

Abstract

Tanjung Belit village in Kampar Kiri Hulu subdistrict has been transformed to be tourism object and it is passed through by a river (Sebayang River). This place does not provide adequatefacility for accommodation. That is the reason why there has to be a temporary accommodation, such as resort. Buildings with the characteristics of rumah lontiok still stand in this region.However, the villagers had not used those characteristics. The villagers focus more on maximizing the function of the shapes and space of their house. To reflect characteristics of the place where the resort is built, Postmodern Architecture is the suitable theme for this resort design. By using Postmodern Architecture topic as design approach, hence we get the Compound of Composure andGregarious concept. Composure is interpreted as modern architeture which emphasizes on function and simple form, and Gregarious is interpreted as Lontiok Architecture which has more shapes and carved objects. The compatibility of the concept is applied on site pattern and building form including zoning, mass order, outdoor planning, mass formation, indoor planning, and interior.Keyword:Resort, Compound, Postmodern Architecture

Abstract

Rumbai district in Pekanbaru city is an area the community as a woven craft area, most of the people earn a living as rattan and wood craftsmen. Rattan craft industry is one business activities that has existed for a long time in Pekanbaru city which has a high selling value. But now, rattan craft industry is currently less developed, therefore efforts are needed to realize effective product marketing. Less of management of rattan craft is the background of the rattan crafts art market design. Art market serves as a place to support the creativity of rattan craftsmen and access to make it easier for consumers to get rattan craft. The design method used is primary data containing documentation and secondary data from of literature and comparative studies. The rattan craft market applies with contemporary architecture, contemporary architecture display different design in the rattan craft market building. The concept applied in design of rattan craft market is “Woven”. The concept of woven is inspired by the function of this market. The design is expected to be able to accommodate the activities of producers and consumers of rattan craft.Keywords: Rattan Craft, Contemporary Architecture

Abstract

The photography gallery is a place to accommodate the work, a place to hold exhibitions, entertainment and recreation. But in the city of Pekanbaru did not have a container to realize the activity. The development of photography continues to improve based on the community and photography enthusiasts, so it is a gallery of photography in Pekanbaru. Photographic gallery with a metaphorical architectural approach which has the formation of the camera as a form of building. Meanwhile, the basic concept of building ideas is "Light of Camera", which is lighting inside the camera, where the movement of light in the camera will be applied to the building room.Keywords: Architecture Metafora, Photography, Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Bengkalis city is the center of Bengkalis District government. In the Dutch colonial era, Bengkalis had become the residency of eastern Sumatra so that there were many colonial remains in the city. One of them is the Huis Van Behauring cultural heritage site which is a prison building that was once a place of exiled kings and leaders who opposed the Dutch government at that time. The research methods were field observations, literature reviews, and documentations. The development of the cultural heritage tourism and colonial architectural was emphasized on the area organization of the site and the appearance of buildings that showed the characteristics of colonial architectural buildings. The development location is on Jalan Pahlawan, Bengkalis with width 3,5 hectares. The concept used was taken from the title Bengkalis people give to Huis Van Behauring building, which is chain. The result of this study is the development of the Huis Van Behauring cultural heritage site used as a new historical tourist attraction in Bengkalis by applying the heritage tourism elements and the colonial architectural style. Abstract

Syar'i Wedding Center is a place to facilitate from the preparatory until the implementation of Islamic wedding that are in accordance with Islamic syari'at. In Pekanbaru, there is no building that has a special function for wedding processions and that applies the principle of syar'i in its services and facilities. Design application method of Islamic is in line with the functions of the building that will maximize concepts, themes, and design results both in form, appearance, ornamentation, zoning and material that will support the appearance of Islamic architectural styles. This design aims to facilitate the fulfillment of the needs of marriages in one area with the application of the principles of Islamic Architecture. Methods used include field data collection, literature study and empirical studies. The results of designed with the marriage bond concept which adopted the form and meaning of the application principles from Islamic Architecture in terms of varied forms of building that relate to the function, neutral building colors that resemble nature, using environmentally friendly and easily obtainable materials, different zoning applications, simple building, using ornaments and calligraphy that reminds God.Keywords: Islamic Architecture, Syar’i, The Marriage Bond, Wedding Center

Abstract

Pekanbaru City which is now a metropolis with a population of more than one million also will require a wide range of facilities that can support the ease and comfort and security for residents and visitors who come to town there and this, that's the reason for the construction of residential vertically. In the design of the apartment, design approach emphasizes the aspects of green architecture with the goal of keeping buildings designed to minimize the adverse effects of the energy crisis, the adverse effects on the environment, natural, or user of the apartment itself. However, to support this design is more in the concept captured the "movement", the concept is applied to the movement in the form of building and landscape. Abstract

A form of art that is growing in this modern era is seni jalanan or street art. The word "Street” in street art does not only show the location but rather shows the freedom of expression. Freedom of expression in general public became a push to the younger generation to roar and vent the angst over social, cultural, economic structure or whatever they feel by combining components of colours, lines, patterns and shapes in the city’s public spaces that have been overrun by advertising medias, billboards, banners, and etcetera. The usage of public spaces without permission to create street art is classified as a form of vandalism that could stains, damages, and spoils the city scape. However, the majority of society views street art as a form of art that leaves the impression of aesthetics in the midst of a hectic city life. Due to a minimal amount of the expression areas and the lack of attention from the government that even opposes the existence of this art form and assumes that this form of art as an act of vandalism. Expressionism architecture design approach that is also happen to be a refined result of imagination and emotions poured into an object to evoke emotions and understanding, certainly has a close relationship with the street art that acts as a media outlet of imagination and emotions poured into lines and shapes. The method of research that is used, covers observations, documentations as well as secondary data in a form of case studies and comparison studies. The concept applied to the design object is “Not everything’s the same” which is then influenced by a form of a graffiti’s writing style called Wildstyle and this concept also becomes a connecting point of each function’s placement. The outcome of this research is to design an architectural object that could evoke feelings and imaginations as well as conveys a message that is wished by the designers to the society through the principles of expressionism architecture.Keywords: Architecture, Expressionism, Street art.

Abstract

The campground is used to accomodate various outdoor activities such as camping, training activities, recreations, tourisms, and other activities. Scouting is a process of education outside the school and family’s environment in the term of interesting, fun, healthy, organized, directed, and practical activities that carried out in the open nature based on basic principles and methods of scouting. The campground is closely related to scouting because the process of education and scouting activities carried out in the open nature. The research methods were field surveys, literature reviews, and documentations. The scout campground design used the neo vernacular approach, which is Balai Selaso Jatuh Kembar, applied to this area and time setting of the building so it showed the characteristics of Malay architectural buildings. The researcher used one of the camp activities as a concept of this research, that is “bonfire”. The result of this study is the campground designing by applying neo vernacular architectural element featured on the area and building constructs to accomodate various activities on the open nature.   Keywords: Campground, Neo Vernacular, Universitas Riau Scout.

Abstract

Tenun Songket and Batik Tabir are Riau typical handicrafts. The demand for these fabrics has increased because of the large public interest in using these fabrics in various events. However, the market demand cannot be fulfilled because the numbers of production and craftsmen from Tenun Songket and Batik Tabir are still low. As a result of these factors, a production center is needed that can overshadow the production process of Songket and Batik Tabir. This production center aims to accommodate the creativity of Songket and Batik Tabirs’ craftsmen from regencies in Riau that produce high-quality Tenun Songket and Batik Tabir.The production centers also facilitate promotional activities and education for the community. Not only accommodates production activities, so that traditional handicrafts from Tenun Songket and Batik Tabir can develop well and become an identity for the people and culture of Riau. The Production Center is designed through the Neo Vernacular Architecture approach that mimics some or several elements of the physical form of the building or non-physical elements of the building in the form of layout, mindset and culture.
