The purpose of this study is to describe the design of the card catalog in letter retrieval system at administrative Office of Library Archives and Documentation of Pesisir Selatan District. Data were collected through observation and in a descriptive research. Based on data analysis, stage of making a card catalog is (1) determining the physica, storange used letters; (2) determining the size of the card catalog designed; (3) determining specifying the information to be entered to the card catalog; (4) determining the storange and preparation of catalog cards; (5) determining the storange system used to store the card catalog. Results obtained from these data is the card catalog for incoming and outgoing letter are (1) the physical from letters storange system was used between chronological and alphabetical combinations; (2) catalog size is 7.5 x 12.5 cm with a thickness of 0.025 cm; (3) the contents of the catalog are the placement of numbers, letters home, letters purposes, subject date entry/exit date, number of letters, attachments; (4) storage cabinets catalog using for card catalogs; (5) theÂ letters storage system based on the alphabet name of the sender, recipient or subject; (6) focus on the search procedure for finding a storage code letter that guides the user to the resources letters needed. This paper aims to describe the writing process of bulletins rticle abstract publshed by Baristand Industry Padang. The method used in this research is descriptive. Was obtained from the literature, Baristand IndustriPadang has published the bulletinssince 1993-2011, a total of 44 series. The abstractwas extreted from the year 2007-2011, a total of 5 series in which there are 36 titles of articles. The steps of abstract extracting process, were: (1)bulletinscollecting, (2) bulletinsselecting, (3) articlesreading, (4) important information containing in the article, (5) rough draft of the records created in the previous stepcreating, (6) rough draftexamining, (7), abstracts editing (8) abstracts typing, (9) prepare an abstracts sorting, (10) index of a collection of abstractcreating. This paper aims to improve the effectiveness of the librarians data searching in a certain database, to make IPI easier the supervise its members. Microsoft Access was used to build such database. Considering that Microsoft Access is available in windows operating system. The design of the database is created with attention to typography and coloring rules. The data was gathered by using observation and librarians interviewing. The data analyzed descriptively. It is concluded that (1) IPI cannot supervise its members maindly, (2) the data is suitable to IPI in supervising its members easily. Besides, the members can also access database as well. This paper focuses on the needs and behavior of searching to information Department of Economics student who is doing a thesis. This study aims to determine the information needs and information retrieval needs. This paper is useful for Bung Hatta University Libraries to determine the information needs of students of Department of Economics. This study used a qualitative research approach. Data were collected through direct interviews with user who come to visit the space scientific Bung Hatta University Library at 08:30 until 10:30 GMT on 4 to July 5, 2012. Analyzing the data be descriptive. By analyzing the data, it was concluded the following. First, the sources of information used most often students of Department of Economics University of Bung Hatta is in the form of text books. Department of Economics Students visit the library in order to make or complete the thesis. Collection of books for the Department of Economics at the Bung Hatta University Library does not meet the need. The book takes students are books written with the Indonesian language. Second, information retrieval can be seen through the strategy used. Students stated that if the information sought is not found in the Library of the University of Bung Hatta, the measures taken or the student is to go visit the bookstore and visit the local library. Furthermore, the use of any tools, most of the students in finding information in the library is that they go directly to the collection with a look for yourself to rack collection. The purpose of this study is to describe how to find information about the existing tourism objects in Bungus Teluk Kabung. Using PHP Programing (hyperlink prepreccssor) web based aplication. This application was used as a tool to find information about wisata objectsÂ field. In this paper it is discussed about information searching attitude of elementary student in 48 Elementary school in Padang. This research is aimed to: (1) find out where the student of 48 Elementary school searching the source of information, (2) to know the kind of information searched by the student of 48 Elementary school. The data is gathered through observation and interview with the student in 48 Elementary school. Data analysis is conducted by grouping, tabulating and describing based on analyzing the data, it is concluded the following. First, students of 48 elementary school search the information in school library, book store, magazine and internet. Among the places above, most student get the information from internet and teacher. Second, the kind of information searched are: heroic article, news, book, story book and magazine. In this way, facilities as internet need to be completed, so that students can access the information quichly and efficienty. Keywords: Information searching; information searching attitude

Database design aims to create a database service borrowing and returning books in Library SMK Padang Panjang 1 based on Microsoft Access. The method used is the method of observation that is by studying the manual system previously used by the library. Literature is to look for books, papers, and articles from the internet that will be used to design a new system that will be created. The database design activity is as follows: First, create a table that consists of a group of students table, group table book, group transactions table and transaction table book group; second, create queries relationship between the book table and transaction table book; Third, create a form design that student data form, the form book data, and the form of the transaction; Fourth, create a report and report student book; fifth, to make the main menu database. With the database is expected to help the librarian in the service book borrowing and return quickly. Librarians can also present the data reported borrowing and returning books appropriately and accurately. Keywords: database; borrowing; repayment

AbstractIn this paper we discuss the SKPD Filing Unit Employee Perception of the Regional Archival Information System Application (SIKEDA) and the Regional Archival Information Network (JIKEDA) inÂ the City Government of Bukittinggi. The purpose of this study is to determine the competence and optimal shield of SKPD employees in inputting files to the SIKEDA application.This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The location of this study was carried out in 5 SKPD Institutions in Bukittinggi, namely: (1) the Library and Archives Office of Bukittinggi City, (2) the Education and Culture Office of the City of Bukittinggi, (3) the Youth and Sports Pariwasata Service of the City of Bukittinggi, (4) the Health Service City of Bukittinggi, (5) Social Service of the city of Bukittinggi. The object of the study was SKPD employees in five government agencies in the city of Bukittinggi.Â Writing this paper aims to describe (1) To describe the optimization of the use of SIKEDA and JIKEDA applications by Admin node SIKEDA in supporting records management in the city administration of the City of Bukittinggi; (2) To describe the competencies possessed by HR in SKPD in utilizing information technology in the application of SIKEDA and JIKEDA applications in the City Government of Bukittinggi.Data was collected by observation and direct interviews with SKPD employees in the Bukittinggi city government and literature studies in the application of electronic records in the government of the City of Bukittinggi.Based on the discussion, it can be concluded that the First Employee in the SKPD in the City Government of Bukittinggi is still not optimal in inputting the archive to the sikeda Second application.iKeywords: optimization, competence, electronic archives.

The purposes of this study were: (1) to describe how the media shapes made by librarians in promoting Perpustakaan Umum Kota Padang, and (2) to dtermine how the public perception of the implementation of the campaign carried out Perpustakaan Umum Kota Padang. Data were collected through interviews and observations in the library of the office Arsip Perpustakaan dan Dokumentasi Kota Padang. The data were analyzed descriptively. Research findings are ineffective media promotion done by Perpustakaan Umum Kota Padang. So the conclusion is perseption of the society for less so positive and people are not aware of any promotions undertaken by Perpustakaan Umum Kota Padang. Keywords: promotion; perception

This study aimed to describe: (1) automation system working procedure in mengautomasikan Politani Library activities, (2) the policy provided by the library to automate the activities especially in pengentrian Library Politani data, and (3) human resources contained in Library Politani. Data were collected through observation and interviews with staff and former chairman Politani Library. Analyzing the data be descriptive. Based on observations and interviews obtained the following findings. (1) the implementation of work procedures in the library automation system Politani enough, from the preparation to the use of automation systems. It's just not a consideration of the completeness of the hardware and human resource capabilities in the preparation process. The lack of consideration of the distance to the survey process. (2) Policy to automate activities in the library is still lacking because Politani automate policy activities at the library as just training. Politani library also requires the addition of a complete infrastructure and facilities in the development of automation systems, automation system development in order to function optimally. (3) The ability of the human resources Politani library is still limited in terms of library automation. This is due to the lack of human resources library master the basics of computer hardware and software. In addition, the lack of knowledge about the information technology staff, making it difficult to develop automation.
