Abstract

This article studies the opinion of Muslim feminists on Islam and women empowerment. Using Indonesian history as the reference of being colonized, analytically the writer shows how these cultural and political problems placed Indonesian Muslim women into a kind of continuing struggle of independence. Having a careful consideration of Indonesian history and culture, the writer’s final idea was that Islam has a meeting point with feminism. It is suggested, then, that based on Indonesian Muslim history it should be acknowledged that Islam is compatible with the idea of progress for women.

Abstract

Abstract. The problem of being a single parent who experiences a change in role and has a double burden in the formation of a child's gender identity, becomes its own difficulty for single parents. The formation of gender identity itself is an important part of recognizing the concept of gender as a male (masculine) or female (feminine) which is influenced by biological, social, and cognitive factors during the socialization process of their parents. To describe this situation, this research study focuses on examining how gender relations between children and single parents of different sexes provide an understanding of children's gender identity using social learning theory. In this study, a qualitative approach was used based on a critical review of the literature, both theoretical and empirical. The results showed that in single-parent families, there tends to be an imbalance in the process of learning gender identity because of gender roles vacancies. The domination of gender norms when socializing gender identity can obscure the role of one gender, so that the meaning of gender is biased. This also happens because children who experience losing role models in the process of ordering their gender identities will be attached to disharmony in the form of vacant roles. Therefore, single parents must be able to provide an understanding of gender identity so that children have knowledge of balanced gender identities to minimize psychological conflicts in the growth of a child from a single-parent family. Abstrak. Problematika status sebagai orang tua tunggal yang mengalami perubahan peran serta memiliki beban ganda dalam pembentukan identitas gender anak, menjadi kesulitan tersendiri bagi para orang tua tunggal. Pembentukan identitas gender sendiri merupakan bagian penting dalam mengenali konsep gender anak sebagai seorang laki-laki (maskulin) atau perempuan (feminin) yang dipengaruhi oleh faktor biologis, sosial, dan kognitif selama proses sosialisasi dari orang tuanya. Untuk mendeskripsikan keadaan tersebut, studi penelitian ini berfokus mengkaji bagaimana relasi gender antara anak dan orang tua tunggal yang berbeda jenis kelamin dalam memberikan pemahaman mengenai identitas gender anak dengan menggunakan teori belajar sosial (social learning theory). Dalam penelitian ini digunakan pendekatan kualitatif berdasarkan tinjauan kritis dari literatur baik teoritis maupun empiris. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dalam keluarga orang tua tunggal, cenderung terjadi ketimpangan dalam proses pembelajaran sosial identitas gender karena adanya kekosongan peran gender. Adanya dominasi norma gender saat sosialisasi pembentukan identitas gender dapat mengaburkan peran salah satu gender, sehingga makna gender dianggap bias. Hal ini juga terjadi karena anak yang mengalami kehilangan panutan dalam proses pembentukan identitas gendernya, akan lekat dengan disharmoni yang dialami berupa kekosongan peran. Maka dari itu, orang tua tunggal harus dapat memberikan pemahaman mengenai identitas gender agar anak memiliki pengetahuan mengenai identitas gender yang seimbang sehingga dapat meminimalisir konflik psikologis dalam pertumbuhan seorang anak dari keluarga orang tua tunggal.

Abstract

Diversity is a necessity that cannot be denied by anyone, diversity that is based on true differences should be responded to with an attitude of tolerance and view that all differences are the nature of life. However, a handful of people in the name of religion actually see diversity as a threat that is very counter to their views so that with the frontal dare to call for war against these differences. Diversity and religious life is a concept that not only cares for fellow human beings but also respects and protects what God has created as a form of obedience. Seeing from a number of radical groups acting in the name of religion and carrying out extreme actions, this article seeks to reveal how Islamic organizations view the problem. By using a qualitative approach and phenomenology technique, which was carried out through in-depth interviews with 5 informants with the background of the organization's organizers it was found that there were three phases of a person behaving radically. But in this article more emphasis on the first phase, namely sensitivity, because this phase is seen as a channel for the formation of radical ideology in a person. Expected implications, social awareness can be formed that radicalism can actually be prevented from the beginning, with the right approach and method, as described in this article

Abstract

Perkembangan Kota Bekasi saat ini membuat keberadaaan masyarakat etnis Betawi Bekasi sudah sangat sulit untuk dijumpai di tengah kota. Masyarakat etnis Betawi Bekasi sekarang lebih banyak bermukim di pinggiran Kota Bekasi. Meskipun secara kuantitas keberadaan masyarakat etnis Betawi Bekasi semakinberkurang, namun kepatuhan mereka untuk menjaga kearifan lokal masih dilakukan. Salah satu kearifan lokal yang masih dapat dijumpai ialah gotong royong dalam berbagai kegiatan di masyarakat. Gotong royong dalam penyelenggaraan kegiatan masyarakat etnis Betawi Bekasi dikenal dengan istilah “paketan”. Berdasarkan permasalahan yang ada, penelitian ini meneliti mengenai bagaimana faktor-faktor yang melatar belakangi “paketan” dapat bertahan hingga saat ini?; Dan bagaimana faktor – faktor hambatan yang dihadapi masyarakat dalam mempertahankan “paketan” sebagai kearifan lokal etnis Betawi Bekasi? Adapun pendekatan penelitian menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif. Sedangkan jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian studi kasus.

Abstract

Kemampuan untuk menerima dan mengakui beragam perbedaan merupakan titik sentral dari pendidikan multikultural. Kemampuan tersebut dapat diasah selain lewat kebiasaan di rumah, tetapi juga lewat dunia pendidikan. Pada institusi pendidikan dapat diintegrasikan ke dalam berbagai materi dan pendekatan belajar yang menunjang pengimplementasian nilai-nilai pendidikan multikultural, seperti pembelajaran berbasis masalah (Problem Based Learning/PBM). Tujuan dari artikel ini adalah mempromosikan penggunaan pendekatan PBM pada pembelajaran sosiologi yang berkaitan dengan materi pendidikan multikultural. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode kualitatif deskriptif pada SMA Talenta School, Kota Bandung. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah Guru Sosiologi dan beberapa Siswa-Siswi kelas XI di sekolah tersebut. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa 1) peserta didik dapat mengikuti pelajaran dengan baik; 2) bertanggungjawab dengan tugas-tugas yang diberikan; 3) mampu menunjukkan sikap bekerja; 4) saling menghargai pendapat orang lain; 5) bernalar kritis dan terbiasa untuk bertanya.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the knowledge and understanding of teachers of multicultural education in improving the Indonesian character of students at SMAN 3 Tualang. This study employed a case study research design and a qualitative approach. The study used a purposive sample strategy to choose the interviewees, divided into 13 key informants: teachers from SMAN 3 Tualang, two supporting informants, the Principal of SMAN 3 Tualang, and the Head of the Tualang Education Area. Data reduction, data display, and  conclusion drawing were all used in the data analysis process. By using data triangulation techniques, the accuracy of the data used in this study was further examined. According to research employing the social learning theory, teachers still do not understand and master with multicultural education, so its implementation is not optimal, resulting in the low Indonesian character of students at SMAN 3 Tualang.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the internalization of the value of deliberation/consensus through Sociology learning based on the local wisdom of Duduk Adoik at SMA Negeri 5 Sungai Penuh. This study involved a qualitative approach with a case study method. The selection of informants was made by using the purposive sampling technique. The data collection techniques observed a series of learning activities conducted by the teacher in the classroom. The interviews were conducted by asking structured and open questions to the informants, and the last technique was the study of documentation. The data analysis was carried out through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. This study also used data triangulation techniques to test the data's validity: observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The result of the research showed that the value of deliberation/consensus through Sociology learning based on the local wisdom of Duduk Adoik had been internalized in SMA Negeri 5 Sungai Penuh City by using a role-playing learning model. Students play the role of Duduk Adoik in class through role-playing. They animate the roles in Duduk Adoik and the procedure for implementing deliberation in making decisions so that the value of Duduk Adoik can be internalized within students.

Abstract

Paper ini membahas mengenai praktik kekerasan seksual yang dilakukan oleh pemuka agama (kyai) terhadap santri perempuan di pesantren. Dengan metode penelitian literatur review, peneliti membedah bagaimana pola yang seringkali dilakukan oleh kyai dalam melakukan kekerasan seksual, bagaimana dampak, serta bagaimana upaya preventif yang dapat dilakukan. Hasil dari penelitian ini terdapat dua pola secara umum yang digunakan oleh kyai sebagai alat untuk melakukan kekerasan seksual di pesantren. Adapun dampak yang dialami ialah menderita secara fisik, psikis, teologis, dan secara sosiologis. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan program pengarusutamaan gender (gender mainstreaming)  untuk mewujudkan pesantren yang peka dan responsif gender melalui pendidikan seksual yang diintegrasikan ke dalam kurikulum pesantren sebagai upaya preventif terjadinya kekerasan seksual di pesantren.

In this study, a qualitative approach was used based on a critical review of the literature, both theoretical and empirical. The results showed that, the process of forming a gender identity in the socialization stage was considered to be an imbalance in the social learning process of gender identity. The domination of gender norms when the socialization of gender identity formation obscures the role of one gender, so that the meaning of gender is considered biased. The results showed that in single parent families, there tends to be an imbalance in the social learning process of gender identity because of the vacuum of gender roles. Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk memahami makna uang panai sebagai harga diri perempuan suku Bugis Bone baik dari segi tradisi maupun dari segi gengsi, uang panai secara tradisi merupakan sesuatu yang harus dipenuhi pihak laki-laki sebelum menikahi perempuan suku Bugis, pemberian uang panai terkadang dipengaruhi gengsi sehingga jumlah uang panai yang diminta keluarga perempuan sangatlah besar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan datanya melalui wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Data kemudian dianalisis dengan melihat tradisi pemberian uang panai kepada perempuan suku Bugis Bone yang kemudian dipengaruhi oleh gengsi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1). Pemberian uang panai secara tradisi merupakan kewajiban yang harus dipenuhi pihak laki-laki, tanpa uang panai maka tidak ada pernikahan. 2). Tradisi uang panai menjadi gengsi dalam masyarakat suku Bugis Bone sehingga jumlah uang panai sangat tinggi. 3) Ketika ingin melihat status sosial perempuan lihatlah berapa jumlah uang panai yang diberikan pihak laki-laki kepada pihak perempuan, semakin tinggi uang panai yang diberikan maka semakin tinggi status sosial perempuan.
