Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a disease characterized by hyperglycemia (increased blood sugar levels) that occurs due to abnormalities in insulin secretion, insulin action or both. High blood glucose levels can cause an increase in glucose levels in the skin of diabetes mellitus patients, thereby facilitating the appearance of skin manifestations in the form of dermatitis, bacterial infections, fungal infections and others. The condition of epithelial and mucosal cells of diabetes mellitus sufferers has increased adhesion to several groups of fungi on epithelial cells, namely mold and yeast. This type of research is a literature study that summarizes as many as 10 journals that are relevant to these studies. From the literature study, it turned out that 225 samples were obtained with details of 65 samples (28.9%) tested positive for Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccosum and 160 samples (71.1%) tested negative. Based on the data from the literature study, it can be concluded that people with diabetes mellitus are at risk of being infected with the fungi that cause tinea pedis and tinea ungium, because the condition of the epithelial and mucosal cells has increased so that it makes it easier to develop fungal infections.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Communities on Lae-Lae Island, Makassar City have sanitation facilities that are still poor and very limited with quality far from health standards. This causes people who live in these islands to face various health problems, one of which is the risk of being infected with eggs of intestinal nematode worms Soil-Transmitted Helminths (STH). This study aims to identify the eggs of the intestinal nematode worm Soil Transmitted Helminthes in the feces of people on Lae-Lae Island, Makassar City. This type of research is a laboratory observation with a purposive sampling technique of 10 stool samples. Based on the results of research that has been carried out on 10 faecal samples, it was found 1 positive stool sample for Trichuris trichura worm eggs with distinctive egg-shaped characteristics such as the shape of crock worm eggs or wine barrels and at both ends there are two mucoid plugs. The egg wall is brown from the color of the bile at both ends, it is clear, while the other 9 stool samples are negative the type of worm Trichuris trichura and 9 other samples were negative.

Abstract

Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease of the respiratory tract of the lungs caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. To treat the disease by using Anti Tuberculosis Drugs (ATD) which is used for 4-6 months. Treatment time that is long enough can affect the kidneys which have an effect until the occurrence of impaired kidney function. One of the important prognostic factors to evaluate the effect of ATD is by observing kidney function using laboratory indicators such as urea examination. This study aims to determine the description of the results of urea levels in pulmonary TB patients who take ATD with the type of literature study research and data collection with library techniques. The samples in this study were journals and scientific papers related to pulmonary TB patients who took ATD with a total of 6. The method used in this study was a literature study. The results of the study were obtained based on the results of a review of 5 literatures, obtained from 167 samples, obtained normal urea levels as many as 112 (67.1%) samples and urea levels which increased by 55 (32.9%) samples so that it can be concluded that patients with tuberculosis (TB) In the lungs, especially those taking ATD, some have normal urea levels and some have an increase.

Abstract

Saponification between alkaline salt and virgin coconut oil (VCO) will produce liquid soap. This is because the use of virgin coconut oil (VCO) in saponification is known to be very good because of the presence of lauric acid which has clean power and functions as an antimicrobial. The addition of miana leaf extract (Coleus atropurpureus) in the manufacture of liquid soap because it contains flavonoids, tannins, saponins, essential oils which also function as moisturizers and antioxidants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the best combination of pure coconut oil (VCO) liquid soap with variations in the concentration of miana leaf extract (Coleus atropurpureus) in reducing free radicals in the form of bacteria. In this study, a laboratory experimental method was used with the addition of miana leaf extract. A= 0% (w/w), B= 10% (w/w), C= 15% (w/w),) in 100 mL total virgin coconut oil (VCO) three times. The test parameters were in the form of a bacteriological test using the Total Plate Number (ALT) method. From the results of the study, it was found that the formulation of pure coconut oil (VCO) liquid soap with various concentrations of miana leaf extract (Coleus atropurpureus) could reduce free radicals such as bacteria.

Abstract

Posyandu (Integrated Service Post) is a form of community self-help activity in the health sector whose existence is expected to bring promotive and preventive efforts closer to the community. Based on the output of the survey conducted at Posyandu Mawar, located in Palioi Village, Kindang District, Bulukumba Regency, it was found that there is still minimal use of posyandu land for vegetable cultivation. One method solution to solving the problem of Posyandu Mawar cadres is conducting hydroponic training. Hydroponics is the cultivation of planting using water without using soil but emphasizes more on meeting nutritional needs for plants. The method used uses interactive lecturing techniques using power point media. The materials provided are: (a) Definition of Hydroponics, (b) Excess Hydroponics, (c) Procurement of Hydroponic planting media, (d) Types of Hydroponic Plants, (e) Maintenance of Hydroponic Plants, (f) Hydroponic Harvesting. Training activities and practice of making hydroponics have been carried out with the output of this Community Partnership Program, namely Posyandu Mawar cadres who understand hydroponic vegetable cultivation and are able to practice it.

Abstract

Abstract Layoa Village, Gantarangkeke Subdistrict, Bantaeng Regency is one of the main agricultural centers in South Sulawesi, where most of the people have a livelihood as farmers by planting rice, chili peppers, and potatoes. One effort made by farmers in Layoa Village, Gantarangkeke Subdistrict, Bantaeng Regency to increase the productivity of agricultural production is to use pesticides so that crops are not damaged by pests and diseases. From the survey results, it was found that farmers in Layoa Village, Gantarangkeke Subdistrict, Bantaeng Regency have limited knowledge and understanding of the dangers of pesticides and not using work equipment that meets occupational safety and health standards which is a factor causing the risk of health problems due to pesticide exposure. Therefore, the extension team provided a solution in the form of efforts to increase the knowledge and understanding of the farming community in the Village of Layoa about the types of pesticides that are harmful to human health, the impact of pesticides on human health and the application of work safety when using pesticides. The material is delivered through presentation and distribution of farmers' materials, question and answer session or discussion and evaluation. From the community service activities, it can be concluded that the knowledge and understanding of the people of Layoa Village, Gantarangkeke Subdistrict, Bantaeng District increased the benefits of applying work safety in handling pesticides and the dangers of diseases caused by pesticides which are harmful to human health.

Abstract

The latest threat in the world of global health is an outbreak of a respiratory disease known as Coronavirus Disease 2019 (C ovid-19). This disease is transmitted by droplets when talking, coughing and sneezing from an infected person with the Coronavirus, touch or handshake with sufferers and touching the face, mouth and nose by the hands exposed to the Corona virus. Based on the results of a survey conducted by the Community Partnership Program (PKM) team in Palioi Village, Kindang District, Bulukumba Regency, it was found that there was still a lack of awareness and understanding of the community regarding Clean and Healthy Behaviors to prevent Covid-19 transmission. The targets in this Partnership Program activity were Posyandu cadre partners, they are consisting of 6 people. The methods used in the Community Partnership Program (PKM) are lectures, discussions and practice. From the Community Partnership Program (PKM), it can be concluded that Posyandu Mawar cadre partners have increased understanding and awareness in an effort to implement Clean and Healthy Behavior (PHBS) to prevent Covid-19 transmission in households and communities in Palioi Village, Kindang District, Bulukumba Regency

Abstract

Used cooking oil contains compounds that are carcinogenic which pose a risk to human health. Waste cooking oil is also at risk for areas where used cooking oil is disposed, for example into sewers or into the ground. This can contaminate soil and water, thereby endangering humans or the surrounding environment. Therefore, serious action is needed on the use of used cooking oil waste so that it can be utilized optimally as a staple in the soap processing process. Through community service activities which are one of the implementations of the Tridharma of Politeknik Kesehatan Muhammadiyah Makassar Study Program of Medical Laboratory Technology, then education is carried out in the form of counseling to the taklim assembly team at the Al-Hidayah Perumnas Antang Makassar Mosque regarding the use of used cooking oil into solid laundry soap. From this community service activity, it can be concluded that the knowledge of the taklim team at the Al-Hidayah Mosque in Manggala Village, Manggala District, Makassar City regarding the dangers of used cooking oil waste for health and how to process used cooking oil into solid soap.

Abstract

Anggur laut (Caulerpa sp) adalah golongan alga hijau, thallus (cabang) berbentuk lembaran, batangan dan bulatan, berstruktur lembut sampai keras dan siphonous. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi cemaran bakteri pada anggur laut yaitu pencemaran melalui udara, air, alat-alat pengolahan, proses pengolahan dan penyimpanan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui berapa jumlah bakteri yang terdapat pada anggur laut (Caulerpa sp). Penelitian ini bersifat obserfasi laboratorik yang bertujuan untuk menhitung jumlah bakteri pada anggur laut (Caulerpa sp) . Sampel yang diteliti adalah 10 sampel dengan metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Angka lempeng total (ALT). Hasil penelitian diperoleh 9 sampel yang memenuhi syarat untuk dihitung (30-300) koloni yang tumbuh yaitu sampel 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, dan 9. Sedangkan untuk sampel 10 koloni yang tumbuh tidak memenuhi syarat untuk dihitung (<30). Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa dari 10 sampel anggur laut (Caulerpa sp) yang telah diteliti didapatkan hasil yang sesuai ketentuan SNI 7388:2009 dan masih termasuk dibawah standar yang telah ditentukan sehingga anggur laut (Caulerpa sp) yang diperjualbelikan di sepanjang pantai Takalar masih layak untuk dikonsumsi.

Abstract

Keracunan makanan salah satunya disebabkan karena adanya cemaran kimia dalam makanan tersebut, seperti penambahan boraks untuk memperpanjang masa simpan produk. Data Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan (BPOM) menunjukkan bahwa sepanjang tahun 2012, Insiden keracunan akibat mengkonsumsi makanan menduduki posisi paling tinggi, yaitu 66,7%, dibandingkan dengan keracunan akibat penyebab lain. Dalam data tersebut, diketahui 2,93% sampel makanan jajanan pada anak sekolah mengandung boraks. Akumulasi boraks di dalam tubuh dapat berdampak negatif bagi kesehatan. Boraks merupakan Kristal lunak yang mengandung unsur-unsur boron, bewarna dan larut dalam air, tidak berbau, stabil pada suhu tinggi serta tekanan normal. Boraks digunakan sebagai pengawet pada ayam potong untuk memperpanjang masa penyimpanan pada ayam potong. Namun pemakaian boraks disalahgunakan untuk dijadikan sebagai bahan pengawet pada makanan karena memiliki sifat sebagai antiseptik, pengontrol kecoa, bahan solder dan pembersih alat dapur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi boraks pada daging ayam potong dengan menggunakan Cutton bud yang diperjualbelikan pada pasar pa’baeng-baeng Makassar. Berdasarkan hasil pemeriksaan yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan 20 sampel paha ayam potong menunjukan bahwa 1 sampel positif mengandung boraks. Hasil ini ditunjukan dengan adanya perubahan warna pada kapas cutton bud dari kuning menjadi bewarna merah ini menandakan bahwa boraks ditambahkan pada sebagian kecil pedagang ayam potong dipasar pa’baeng-baeng Makassar.
