Abstract

Introduction: Alternative medicine are very popular today as a therapy that are believed to treat cancer. A phenomenology study was carried out to identify the experince of parent’s in using alternative medicine for children with cancer. Method: The method of data collection was indepth interview to eigth parents and data was analyzed by Colaizii’s method. Themes of this research are the impact of illness to children, parent’s effort, description of alternative medicine, the effect of alternative medicine for children, meaning of using alternative medicine and parents expectation. Result: No benefit effect for children and detterence effect in using alternative medicine are current fi ndings in this research. Discussion: Healthcare professional should concerned about using alternative medicine in children and providing adequate information regarding effectiveness and adverse effects of alternative medicine. Abstract

AbstrakPendampingan pelayanan oleh case manager diawali dengan skrining pasien, namun metode skrining dan pelaporan hasil skrining secara manual cendrung kurang efektif dan kurang efisien. Inovasi ini bertujauan untuk mengembangkan sistem skrining yang lebih efektif dan efisien melalui yaitu skrining berbasis sistem informasi manajemen. Metode yang digunakan adalah prototyping model. Hasil inovasi ini adalah sebuah prototipe sistem informasi manajemen skrining case manager berbasis web dan android. Aplikasi ini digunakan oleh perawat yang melakukan skrining dan case manager yang melakukan verifikasi hasil skrining. Dengan sistem update yang real time, aplikasi ini sangat bermanfaat untuk meningkatkan efektifitas dan efisiensi skrining dan pelaporan hasil skrining case manager di rumah sakit. Rumah sakit diharapkan dapat menerapkan sistem ini untuk menigkatkan efektifitas dan efisiensi layanan khususnya case manager.Kata kunci: case manager, prototyping model, sistem informasi manajemen Development of Case Manager Screening Management Information System at RSUP Persahabatan Jakarta AbstractService assistance by the case manager begins with screening patients, but the method of screening and reporting the results of manual screening tends to be less effective and less efficient. This innovation aims to develop a more effective and efficient screening system through management information system-based screening. The method used is the prototyping model. This result is a prototype of a web-based and android case manager screening management information system. This application is used by nurses who conduct screening and case managers who verify the results of screening. With real time system updates, this application is very useful for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of screening and reporting the results of case manager screening at the hospital. Abstract

Professional nursing is needed to provide quality services with assertive behavior. Assertive behavior for nurses is important because nurses work always interacting with others. The purpose of this study was to describe a description of assertive behavior in hospital nursing. Research renewal can be used to optimize conflict management, assertive behavior in nursing. The method used in this study is descriptive research with survey methods. Implementation of research starts from situation analysis, problem identification, determining priority problems, making action plans, implementation, and evaluation. The study sample involved 55 nurses who were randomly selected in the inpatient room. Sample calculation uses the Rule of Thumb formula and obtained 55 nurses. The identification results showed that there were nurses who were not assertive, namely 53% of passive nurses and 25% of nurses being aggressive. Non-assertive behavior in work can cause conflicts, such as task conflicts, communication conflicts, structural conflicts, intrapersonal conflicts, and conflicts between groups. Conflict management abilities, especially assertive techniques aim to limit and avoid violence, by encouraging positive behavioral changes for the parties involved, especially assertive behavior. Conflicts that can be managed properly can have the effect of quality nursing services. The recommendations provided are able to strengthen regulations and increase conflict management knowledge, especially assertive behavior in nursing.Keywords: Assertive, Conflict Management, Nurse

Abstract

The concept of caring is used by nurses in providing nursing care. However, there are factors that influence nurses’ caring attitudes, such as job stress and dehumanization, which make nurse caring behavior decrease. Our program offers a solution to build a caring culture for cancer nurses. The activities carried out were the socialization of the caring culture to nurses, training for the head nurse as a change agent who guided nurses, assignment from the head of the hospital to the head nurse, and a guidance program for the head nurse as a champion to nurses. After the activity was finished, we evaluated the implementation of caring culture by focus group discussion for the head nurse. As a result, eight themes were obtained: observation guidance about caring behavior to help champions monitor and increase the nurses’ caring attitudes, training about caring to help nurses change their caring attitude, excessive workload makes nurses display less-caring behavior, Whatsapp application helps socialize caring culture, spiritual power from the inside fosters caring behavior, support from hospital leaders for caring behavior, needs for caring behavior training and therapeutic communication for all health care providers and administrative staff, needs for caring behavior standard operating procedures (SOP) and guidance from senior nurses. The number of nurses who behave caring well also increase by 38% after intervention (p = 0.021). The result of FGD can be suggestions for the hospital of ways to improve the caring culture.

Abstract

Nyeri pada pasien paska operasi merupakan nyeri akut yang belum banyak dimengerti dan tidak selalu dikelola dengan baik. Nyeri akibat operasi ini tidak hanya memiliki komponen sensori berhubungan dengan rusaknya jaringan, tetapi juga dipengaruhi oleh komponen psikososial dari pasien tersebut. Banyak pasien dan anggota tim kesehatan cenderung menganggap analgesik sebagai metoda yang penting dalam mengurangi rasa nyeri paska operasi. Padahal banyak aktifitas yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengurangi nyeri dengan didasari pada teori pola dan “gate control theory”. Tulisan ini merupakan hasil studi kasus seorang pasien pska operasi herniotomi di sebuah Rumah sakit rujukan nasional yang berlangsung selama 3 hari. Penulisan melakukan perawatan nyeri yang meliputi pendidkan kesehatan kepada pasien tentang rasa nyeri dan cara mengatasinya seperti mengalihkan perhatian dari rasa nyeri (distraksi), meningkatka relaksasi, menggunakan panduan imaginasi; perawat berada dekat pasien saat nyeri berlangsung, menceritakan pengalaman nyeri dan cara mengatasinya pada pasien lain; dan membantu pasien memadukan pengalaman yang sangat menyakitkan dengan nyeri yang dialaminya saat ini. Pada evaluasi didapatkan hasil yang positif dimana aktivitas untuk mengatasi yeri dapat berhasil yang ditunjang oleh data antara lain : pasien mengatakan nyeri berkurang, pasien kelihatan lebih tenang dalam menghadapi rasa nyerinya, ekspresi wajah tidak menunjukkan nyeri, dan pasien termotivasi melakukan aktivitas penurunan nyeri. Post operative pain is classified as an acute pain, which sometimes has not been managed and understood well. Pain which is caused by surgery, has sensory component related to the destruction of the tissue and also influenced by psychosocial components of the patient. Most patient and health workers have a tendency to use to relieve or reduce pain based on ‘pattern theory’ and ‘gate control theory’. This paper was based on one case study of a patient undergone herniotomy who experienced post operation pain. During the study, as his nurses, the writer provided nursing interventions to reduce his pain during his three days hospitalization. In include distraction and relaxation technique, guided imagery, and also health education. This study has positive result which derived from the evaluation phase in which the patient was more relax during his pain, no pain seen on his expression, the pain score reduced, and he had strong motivation to conduct pain reduction activities.

Abstract

Self efficacy perawat penting dalam penggunaan sistem informasi keperawatan karena dapat menentukan keberhasilan penggunaan, meningkatkan kualitas dokumentasi keperawatan dan kualitas pelayanan keperawatan. Penelitian fenomenologi ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi self efficacy perawat dalam penggunaan sistem informasi keperawatan (SIMPRO) di RSIA Bunda Jakarta. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam kepada sepuluh perawat dan dianalisis dengan metode Colaizzi. Hasil penelitian ditemukan beberapa tema yaitu respon menggunakan SIMPRO, keuntungan menggunakan SIMPRO, kepercayaan diri menggunakan SIMPRO, upaya-upaya untuk mampu menggunakan SIMPRO, kendala dalam menggunakan SIMPRO, faktor-faktor yang meningkatkan kepercayaan diri menggunakan SIMPRO, dan harapan dalam menggunakan SIMPRO. Hal baru yang ditemukan pada penelitian ini yaitu waktu munculnya kepercayaan diri menggunakan SIMPRO, bentuk kendala dari rekan kerja, hal-hal yang dilakukan dalam menghadapi kendala serta harapan tentang reward dapat meningkatkan self efficacy perawat dalam menggunakan SIMPRO. Direkomendasikan kepada perawat untuk meningkatkan self efficacy melalui mempelajari SIMPRO, dan mengikuti pelatihan tentang SIMPRO serta melanjutkan pendidikan agar dapat mengoptimalkan peran dan fungsi-fungsi manajemen untuk meningkatkan self efficacy perawat dalam menggunakan SIMPRO.

Abstract

Abstrak Tingkat kepuasan pasien terhadap pelayanan keperawatan di Indonesia mayoritas masih kurang puas. Penyebab ketidakpuasan pasien diantaranya faktor kesalahan identifikasi, komunikasi, pemberian obat, dan risiko jatuh.  Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi hubungan penerapan keselamatan pasien dengan kepuasan pasien di Rumah Sakit X. Desain penelitian menggunakan pendekatan cross sectional dengan menyebarkan kuesioner kepada 143 pasien. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan cluster random sampling dengan cara menetapkan jumlah sampel yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi, kemudian diberikan kuesioner hingga terpenuhi jumlah sample, dan melakukan penelitian pada setiap sampel yang terpilih. Data dianalisis menggunakan independent t-test dan uji chi-square. Hasil penelitian didapatkan ada hubungan penerapan keselamatan pasien dengan kepuasan pasien (p= 0,001; OR=1,216; α= 0,05). Karakteristik pasien berupa umur, jenis kelamin, pendidikan, pekerjaan, dan kelas rawat tidak berhubungan dengan kepuasan pasien (p= 0,331; 0,818; 0,949; 1,000; dan 0,382; α= 0,05). Hasil penelitian juga didapatkan bahwa penerapan aspek keselamatan pasien berupa reassessment pasien risiko jatuh dan dimensi kehandalan (memberi petunjuk, memberi penjelasan) ketika akan melakukan tindakan keperawatan masih belum optimal sehingga menjadi saran untuk ditingkatkan agar kepuasan pasien di rumah sakit X semakin meningkat. Kata kunci: kepuasan pasien, keselamatan pasien, penerapan Abstract Patient Satisfaction Against Patient Safety Application at Hospital. The level of patient satisfaction with nursing services in Indonesia is mostly unsatisfied. The cause of patient dissatisfaction is due to misidentification, miscommunication, medication errors, and inappropriate risk management of falls. This study aimed to identify the relationship between the application of patient safety and patient satisfaction at Hospital X. The study design used a cross-sectional approach by distributing questionnaires to 143 patients. Sampling using cluster random sampling by determining the number of samples that meet the inclusion criteria, then given a questionnaire until the number of samples is met, and conduct research on selected samples. Data were analyzed using independent t-test and chi-square test. The results showed that there was a correlation between the application of patient safety and patient satisfaction (p= 0.001, OR= 1.216; α= 0.05). Patient characteristics in the form of age, gender, education level, occupation, and nursing class were not related to patient satisfaction (p= 0.331; 0.818; 0.949; 1,000; and 0.382; α= 0.05). The results also found that the application of patient safety aspects in the form of reassessing patients to falling risks and dimensions of reliability (giving instructions, giving explanations) when going into nursing actions was not optimal so that suggestions were increased so that patient satisfaction at hospitals X  increased.Keywords: Application, patient satisfaction, patient safety

Abstract

Pengawasan dapat menurunkan angka kejadian HAIs dan pengawasan dapat menjadi  dasar perbaikan pelayanan dalam meningkatkan keselamatan pasien. Data HAIs sering tidak lengkap sehingga perbaikan mutu sulit untuk dilaksanakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan pengawasan HAIs berbasis komputer terhadap kelengkapan dokumentasi dan kepuasan perawat dalam menggunakan sistem. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah pre eksperimen dengan rancangan pre test post test without control. Jumlah sampel dokumen 71 dokumen dan 25 perawat, diambil secara purposive sampling. Analisis menggunakan Wilcoxon test dan t-dependent test. Hasil menunjukan adanya perbedaan yang bermakna antara kelengkapan dokumentasi sebelum dan sesudah penggunaan sistem (p= 0,0). Selain itu, hasil penelitian ini juga menunjukkan ada peningkatan kepuasan perawat sebagai pengguna sistem pengawasan HAIs sebelum dan sesudah intervensi (p= 0,01). Peningkatan ini menunjukkan sistem pengawasan HAIs berbasis komputer berpengaruh terhadap kelengkapan dokumen dan kepuasan perawat. Hasil penelitian dapat menyarankan untuk migrasi dari catatan yang berbasis manual ke dokumentasi berbasis elektronik. AbstractThe Enhancement of Comprehensive Documentation and Nurse’s Satisfaction towards Computer Based Surveilance of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs). Continued monitoring using surveillance could decrease HAIs incidence. HAIs electronic surveillance system could be developed with a system that is integrated in the hospital information system. This study aims to identify the influence of computer based HAIs surveillance toward documentation completeness and user satisfaction. Pre experiment research design by pre test post test without control plan with 71 document samples and 25 nurses. Outcome of the research by Wilcoxon test showed that there are significant differences between documentation completeness before and after implementation of the system (p= 0.01) and using t dependent showed that there are significant differences in term of satisfaction of the HAIs pengawasan system before and after the intervention (p= 0.01). This differences showed that computer based HAIs pengawasan system has influence toward document completeness and user satisfaction. The results of the study can be used to base the development of appropriate surveillance system HAIs hospital policy. Keywords: completeness, electronic documentation, HAIs surveillance system, satisfaction

Abstract

Nurses provide care equally and do not discriminate between men and women. However, male nurses face challenges and obstacles, especially when they take care of female patients. This study aimed to explore the experiences of male nurses who look after female patients by using a descriptive qualitative design with a phenomenological approach. Ten male nurse participants aged 26–43 years and having an experience of caring for female patients for at least 2 years were included in this study. Seven themes were identified: the discomfort of female patients and male nurses; patient’s trust and privacy; the identification of factors affected by body image, age, and types of sensitive areas and actions; attention to the religion, personal beliefs, ethics, and culture of patients; professionalism, role, and competencies of nurses; communication strategies and asking for female nurses for assistance based on team methods; and the view of males in the nursing profession. This study focused on two of the main themes: attention to the religion, personal beliefs, ethics, and cultures of patients and communication strategies and asking female nurses on the team for help. Results suggest that nursing facilities need to improve their patient-focused services by considering a patient’s ethical and cultural concerns, using communication strategies, and seeking team assistance when needed in accordance with a hospital’s national accreditation standards. Abstrak Studi Fenomenologi Pengalaman Perawat Laki-Laki dalam Merawat Pasien Perempuan. Perawat memberikan asuhan yang setara dan tidak membeda-bedakan antara laki-laki dan perempuan. Namun perawat laki-laki menghadapi tantangan dan kendala, terutama saat merawat pasien perempuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengalaman perawat laki-laki yang merawat pasien perempuan dengan menggunakan desain deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Sepuluh peserta perawat laki-laki berusia 26–43 tahun dan memiliki pengalaman merawat pasien perempuan setidaknya selama 2 tahun dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini. Tujuh tema diidentifikasi, yaitu ketidaknyamanan pasien wanita dan perawat pria; kepercayaan dan privasi pasien; identifikasi faktor yang dipengaruhi oleh citra tubuh, usia, dan jenis area dan tindakan sensitif; perhatian pada agama, keyakinan pribadi, etika, dan budaya pasien; profesionalisme, peran, dan kompetensi perawat; strategi komunikasi dan meminta bantuan perawat wanita berdasarkan metode tim; dan pandangan laki-laki dalam profesi perawat. Studi ini berfokus pada dua tema utama, yaitu perhatian pada agama, keyakinan pribadi, etika, dan budaya pasien serta strategi komunikasi dan meminta bantuan perawat wanita dalam tim. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa fasilitas keperawatan perlu meningkatkan layanan yang berfokus pada pasien dengan mempertimbangkan masalah etika dan budaya pasien, menggunakan strategi komunikasi, dan mencari bantuan tim bila diperlukan sesuai dengan standar akreditasi nasional rumah sakit. Kata kunci: budaya pasien, etika, pasien perempuan, perawat laki-laki, perawatan

Abstract

Singkatan dari suatu istilah dalam tulisan ilmiah seringkali digunakan oleh penulis. Untuk memaksimalkan kejelasan naskah dan pengertian bacaan, penulis perlu memperhatikan beberapa hal yang dapat dijadikan pedoman dalam penggunaan singkatan menurut “American Psychological Association (APA)” yang banyak dipaki sebagai penuntun dalam penulisan ilmiah.The writers sometimes use abbreviations in their paper. In order to maximize the comprehensiveness of the paper, there are some guidance based on the American Psychological Association (APA), which could be used.
