Abstract

Abstract:The study aimed to analyze the teachers’ ability to develop the assessment instrument of the students’ skills in science. This descriptive study was conducted by involving 25 in-service science teachers who have more than five years teaching experiences at the secondary level. Those teachers are the members of the Teacher Association in Kediri region. In this study, the intended information was collected by using the instrument of skill test validation. The teachers’ abilities in developing the instrument for assessing students’ skills in science were determined by using the assessment criteria developed by the researchers. The data then were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. The findings indicated that most of the teachers had the difficulties in developing the instruments for assessing students’ skills in science. Most of the teachers were difficult to create blue prints, task instructions, and rubrics for assessment. In addition, the implications of the research findings were discussed further.
