Abstract

Motor vehicle smoke pollution contains lead exposure which if accumulated in the blood exceeds the stipulated level, it can cause health problems, both psychological and physical. This study aims to determine the effect of exposure to lead emitted by motor vehicle fumes on students who take part-time jobs as online motorcycle taxi drivers. The influences studied include IQ levels and communication anxiety. Measurement of IQ using the WAIS test (Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale) while Communication Anxiety was measured using the Communication Anxiety Scale. Blood lead levels were checked using the GFAAS tool. The data on blood lead levels, IQ scores and communication anxiety were then tested for normality using the Kolmogorov Smirnov technique and followed by a linearity test with a test of linearity. Then for hypothesis testing, the data were analyzed using simple regression analysis. The result is that there is a relationship between blood lead levels with IQ levels and communication anxiety.

Abstract

This research aimed to know the effects of the methods of bibliotherapy and discussion on the moral dilemmas in enhancing responsible character. The subjects of the research were 65 students of “AN” divided into three groups; bibliotherapy experimental group, moral discussion experimental group, and non-treatment control group. The research used pretest-posttest-follow-up design. The data of this experimental research were obtained by using a scale of responsible character consisting of aspects of self-control skill, risk-taking for personal choice and seriousness of doing obligation to others. The data were then analyzed using the SPSS.19 software program. The analyzed factors indicated that there were five dimensions shaping students’ responsible character, namely carefulness, task-oriented, excellence, perseverance, and commitment. Based on the hypothesis test through a one-way ANOVA technique, it was concluded that the two methods have an effect on the enchancement of students’ responsible character.

Abstract

The physiological setbacks of the elderly include a decrease in the function of the cardiovascular system, which affects blood pressure in the elderly. One of the cardiovascular problems that often occurs in the elderly is hypertension. Hypertension is often associated with stress due to psychological problems from the elderly. In addition to stress, body mass index is another factor associated with hypertension. Overweight is one of the predisposing factors for the incidence of hypertension. In the elderly who are overweight, if followed by a low level of physical activity, will increase the risk of hypertension. This study aims to determine (1) the correlation between stress levels with hypertension in the elderly, (2) the correlation between BMI with hypertension in the elderly and (3)the correlation between physical activity with hypertension in the elderly. The population in this study was the participants of the Posyandu, an elderly rose in Kayuapak village. The sampling technique uses simple random sampling. Stress level variables are measured using DASS Test, BMI is measured by Digital Body Weight scales, physical activity is measured using a physical activity sheet and blood pressure is measured using a Spigmomanometer. This study uses correlational analysis techniques. The result is a relationship between stress levels and blood pressure in the elderly with a significance value of 0.039 <0.05 (p <0.05). There is a relationship between BMI and blood pressure in the elderly with a significance value of 0,000 <0.05 (p <0.05). There is a relationship between the level of physical activity with blood pressure in the elderly with a significance value of 0.011 <0.05 (p <0.05).

Abstract

This community service project is a promotive and preventive activity that aims to educate students about the danger of lead exposure accumulation in students, delivered to teaching staff throughout Central Java. This activity was conducted as counseling using the webinar method through zoom meetings. Participants were enthusiastic, as seen from the questions asked during the discussion and question-answer sessions. The ability of participants to answer pretest and posttest questions showed an increase in participants’ knowledge between before and after the counseling. The average score of the pretest was 7.00 with a standard deviation of 3.428, while the average score of the posttest was 14.06 with a standard deviation of 1.983. A paired t-test was then used to determine whether the scores from the pretest and posttest differed. Given that the p-value for the difference between the pretest and posttest scores was 0.000, it can be said that the difference is statistically significant. It can be determined that the partner satisfaction questionnaire's answers were valid because they ranged from 0.549 to 0.905 when it was previously assessed for validity using the Pearson product-moment method. The instrument passed the reliability test with a Cronbach Alpha rating of 0.925, indicating that it was trustworthy. According to the results of the partner satisfaction survey, the typical score was 4.09. Thus, it can be concluded that the activity satisfies the participants. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be said that the counseling activities can increase participants’ knowledge about the danger of lead exposure accumulation on students’ achievement.

Changes as indicated by the significance value (2-tailed) on the knowledge questionnaire about leptospirosis was 0.000 which showed a significant difference. From this outreach activity, it was concluded that the material about leptospirosis could be well understood by looking at the increase in scores on the pre-test and post-test. From the satisfaction questionnaire filled out by all participants, the results obtained in the satisfactory category. In addition, the counseling participants were also active in sharing knowledge about efforts to prevent the spread of leptospirosis to other communities.
