Abstract

The independent learning curriculum has been implemented in various educational units in Indonesia. Facts on the ground state that not all stakeholders understand the free learning curriculum. Therefore, the service team of HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar University has carried out community service at SMP Negeri 1 Dolok Pardamean, Simalungun Regency, where this service aims to socialize the independent learning curriculum for teachers of SMP Negeri 1 Dolok Pardamean. This service received a good response and was appreciated by the Principal of SMP Negeri 1 Dolok Pardamean. The results obtained from this service were 76.7% of the participants stated that they were satisfied with this service. It is hoped that through this activity there will be cooperation between the university and the school to develop the quality of teachers for the creation of quality education.

Abstract

As a result of this pandemic, learning activities must be carried out in a limited manner, which in SD Negeri 094164 Partimbalan school, by using two sessions in 1 day of the teaching and learning process. This limited learning is certainly very ineffective because students' learning time is reduced, therefore the Ministry of Education and Culture launched a program called Kampus Merdeka Mengajar which provides opportunities for the younger generation to assist learning activities in schools. This activity is carried out to assist teaching and learning activities, namely specifically literacy and numeracy, technology adaptation and assisting school administration. The learning method used in learning at SDN 094164 is offline which still applies health protocols. In the end, the activities of the Kampus Mengajar program provide a lot of benefits for schools, teachers and students with some of the knowledge and experience provided.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran yang dimainkan Instagram dalam pengajaran berbicara. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh penggunaan aplikasi Instgaram sebagai media kemampuan berbicara pada siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 4 Pematangsiantar. Apa pengaruh penggunaan aplikasi Instagram terhadap keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 4 Pematang Siantar? ”. Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimen semu dan menggunakan data kuantitatif. Tes digunakan untuk mengumpulkan dan mengambil data penelitian. Sampel penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah X PIS, dengan X PIS 1 sebagai Kelompok Eksperimen dan X PIS 3 sebagai Kelompok Kontrol, dengan total 74 siswa. Siswa mengikuti pre-and post-test, serta tes yang melibatkan perekaman objek. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa memanfaatkan aplikasi Instagram memiliki dampak yang cukup besar pada kemampuan berbicara siswa. Teori David P. Harris digunakan untuk menentukan nilai rubrik tes. Hasil Uji Validitas Kelas Eksperimen dihitung sebesar 0,78 dan tinggi, sedangkan Hasil Uji Reliabilitas Kelas Eksperimen sebesar 0,87 dan baik. Hasil Uji Validitas Kelas Kontrol adalah 0,69 dan cukup, sedangkan Hasil Uji Reliabilitas Kelas Kontrol adalah 0,81 dan cukup. Peneliti menemukan bahwa nilai rata-rata pre-test dan post-test Kelas Eksperimen adalah (Ma1 dan Mb2) masing-masing = 51,1 dan 69,2. Peneliti menemukan bahwa nilai rata-rata pre-test dan post-test Kelas Kontrol adalah (Ma1 dan Mb2) = 42,5 dan 52,1, masing-masing. Studi ini menemukan bahwa skor rata-rata keseluruhan Kelas Eksperimen (Ma) adalah 18,1. Studi ini menemukan bahwa nilai rata-rata Kelas Kontrol (Maoverall) adalah 9,6. Df adalah 70, atau derajat kebebasan. Standar deviasi keseluruhan dari Kelas Eksperimen (da2) menurut peneliti adalah 3599,6. Standar deviasi keseluruhan dari Kelas Kontrol (db2), menurut penelitian, adalah 3124,4. Peneliti menemukan skor t-tabel Dr. Imam Ghozali dengan df 70 = 1,667 setelah menghitung data dari poin sebelumnya. Peneliti menentukan nilai uji-t = 7,912 menggunakan rumus uji-t setelah menghitung data dari langkah sebelumnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa H diterima dan ditolak karena tingkat t hitung tabel = 0,05 yaitu (7,912 > 1,667). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan Instagram memiliki pengaruh yang menguntungkan dan signifikan terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 4 Pematangsiantar.

The culture of writing is still far from being a habit for teachers of SMP Negeri 3 Jorlang Hataran. Therefore, the University of HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar University team has carried out a community service at SMP Negeri 3 Jorlang Hataran, Jalan Besar Parapat, Nagori Bah Sampuran. district Jorlang Hataran, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra where this service aims to socialize methods of improving English literacy skills using the problem based learning method for teachers of SMP Negeri 3 Jorlang Hataran. This service has been received with good response and was appreciated by the Principal of SMP Negeri 3 Jorlang Hataran. The results obtained from this service were 76.7% of participants who stated that they were satisfied with this service. It is hoped that with this activity, there will be a good cooperation established between the University and the school to develop the quality of teachers in order to create the higher quality education.

Abstract

The research was carried out with quantitative research and quasi-experimental design. This research involved students from SMP Negeri 1 Jorlang Hataran. The sample was 60 students, 30 students from VIII-3 as experimental group, while 30 students from VIII-4 as control group. The classes were selected through purposive sampling. Think Pair Share teaching was employed as independent variable (y), with the dependent variable (x) purportedly resulting from it. Researcher gathered data by conducted pre-test, treatment, and post test. Mean of post test for experimental was 87,11, while control group’s was 47,11. The experimental group had post-test standard deviation of 9,41, while control group’s was 12, 62. The mean differences had standard error of 6.73 using significance level of 5%. It was determined that T-test value (5,94) exceeded T-table value (1,672). Thereby, Ho was rejected, whereas Ha was accepted. Hence, Think-Pair-Share had significant efect on students’ reading comprehension.

Abstract

Minimnya pengetahuan guru mengenai penulisan buku ajar merupakan permasalahan umum yang terjadi di sekolah karena guru pada umunya menggunakkan buku ajar yang diberikan oleh pemerintah. Olehkarana itu diperlukan sosialisasi penulisan buku ajar agar guru juga dapat menulis buku ajar yang dapat digunakan di sekolah. Tujuan dilaksanakannya pengabdian ini adalah agar guru- guru di SMP Negeri 3 Jorlang Hataran dapat memahami pentingnya penulisan buku ajar dan melalui pengabdian ini diharapakan guru- guru dapat menulis bbuku ajar yang baik. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian ini menggunakan metode penyuluhan dan metode angket. Hasil pengabdian berdasarkan angket yang diisi oleh peserta pengabdian menujukkan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian ini memberikan dampak yang positif bagi peserta PKM. Berdasarkan hasil tingkat kepuasan peserta PKM maka diperoleh bahwa peserta kegiatan PKM 100 % menyatakan sangat setuju dengan kegiatan pengabdian ini. Keberhasilan pelaksanaan kegiatan ini juga ditunjukkan dalam bentuk kepuasan dari peserta yang hadir mengikuti kegiatan seminar dan pelatihan yang dilaksanakan dengan terlihat antusiasme peserta selama proses kegiatan berlangsung.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the effect of Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) teaching strategy to the reading comprehension of grade eighth students at SMP Negeri 2 Siantar on narrative text. The research design was quantitative research with quasi-experimental design. The sample of this research is 60 eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Siantar selected by purposive sampling. The experimental group was given material using LRD teaching strategy, while the control group was given material with conventional teaching strategy. The data were analyzed using T-test. The research found that the mean of pre-test and post-test in experimental group were 45,33 and 80,33, while the mean of pre-test and post-test in control group were 52,53 and 69,86. The result showed that the students who learned by using LRD teaching strategy had better reading comprehension. After that the researcher found that T-test is higher that T-table (2,247> 1.672) at the level of significance is 5%. It shows that t-test is higher than t-table (2,247 >1.672), Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. From the analysis of the data, it can be concluded that there is an effect of LRD teaching strategy to the reading comprehension of grade eight students at SMP Negeri 2 Siantar on narrative text.
