Abstract

Introduction: Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a retrovirus that infects cells of the immune system, destroying or damaging the function of cells of the immune system. This makes the immune system becomes weaker, and people become more liable to infection. A lot of new detected HIV transmission source comes from former workers who work abroad. The challenge in dealing the number of transmission performed comprehensive care of patients and their family empowerment and peer support groups. The aimed of this study was to develop the ability of a family of Indonesian Workers who are infected with HIV and Peer Support Group in independence of care. Methods: This study was used an explanatory design and quasy-experimental. Population in this study were the closest family who care for patients infected with HIV during work abroad as migrant workers in East Java. Samples were selected using simple random sampling technique. The independent variable was the peer group and family support, the dependent variable is the level of independence of care on the respondent. Data were collected using a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability and results were tested using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with alpha ≤0.05. Results: The results showed that this method can improve the independence of the family of the HIV-infected client care during labor as migrant workers abroad with a significance value of p=0.004. Conclusion: Empowerment of family and peer group support can be used to increase the independence of families and patients in the treatment of HIV-infected patients during work abroad as migrant workers. Abstract

Nurse students must have caring behavior when providing services, but they have difficulty understanding the meaning and practice of caring behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the big five personality, self-efficacy, and social support from friends with the caring behavior of the nurse profession students. The design of this study was cross-sectional. The study population was all students of the nurse profession, Faculty of Nursing, Airlangga University in 2020. The sample size was 104 students who were selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed using logistic regression test. The results showed a relationship between caring behavior and big five personality factors, especially extraversion personality p = 0.046, agreeableness p = 0.014, conscientiousness p = 0.005, self-efficacy p = 0.035, and social support from friends p = 0.003. Openness to experience (p = 0.368) and neuroticism (p = 0.373) were not related to caring behavior. It is recommended that educators provide more examples (role models) of how to behave in proper caring, so that students of the nurse profession can improve their caring behavior. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kepribadian big five, self-efficacy, dan dukungan sosial teman dengan perilaku caring mahasiswa profesi ners. Desain penelitian ini adalah cross-sectional. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh mahasiswa profesi ners, Fakultas Keperawatan, Universitas Airlangga tahun 2020. Besar sampel adalah 104 mahasiswa yang dipilih menggunakan simple random sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner yang telah di uji validitas dan reliabilitas, lalu dianalisis menggunakan uji regresi logistik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara perilaku caring dengan faktor kepribadian big five, khususnya kepribadian extraversion p=0.046, agreeableness p=0,014, conscientiousness p=0,005, self-efficacy p=0,035, dan dukungan sosial teman p=0,003. Kepribadian openness to experience (p=0.368) dan neuroticism (p=0.373) tidak berhubungan dengan perilaku caring. Disarankan agar pendidik lebih memberikan contoh (role model) bagaimana sikap berperilaku caring yang tepat, sehingga mahasiswa profesi ners dapat meningkatkan perilaku caring mereka. Abstract

Pengetahuan sangat penting dalam mengembangkan diabetes self-management untuk mencegah resiko komplikasi jangka panjang dengan diet yang ketat. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pengetahuan dan diabetes self-management dengan tingkat stress pasien diabetes melitus yang menjalani diet. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross-sectional. Jumlah total sampel didapatkan sebesar 106 responden dengan multistage sampling, Kriteria inklusi meliputi pasien DM <5 tahun dengan rentang usia 35-55 tahun, tidak menggunakan insulin injeksi, Pasien DM masih berkeluarga dan tinggal dengan keluarganya. Data didapatkan dengan kuesioner Knowledge of Diabetic Diet Questionnaire, Self-Management Dietary Behaviors Questionnaire, dan tingkat stress menjalani diet. Kemudian dianalisis dengan uji Spearman test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan (p=0,049; r=-0,192) dan diabetes self-management (p=0,000; r=-0,341) memiliki hubungan terhadap tingkat stress saat menjalani diet. Diabetes self-management memiliki hubungan yang sangat kuat dari pada tingkat pengetahuan terhadap tingkat stress pasien diabetes yang menjalani diet. Penelitian selanjutnya diharapkan bisa menggunakan responden dengan wilayah yang lebih luas dan serta mengembangkan intervensi yang lebih baik untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang diet pada pasien diabetes melitus. Kata Kunci: diabetes melitus, diet, self-management, tingkat stres Abstract The correlation between knowledge level and diabetes self-management towards stress level of patients DM with diet. Knowledge is very important in developing diabetes self-management to prevent the risk of long-term complications with a strict diet. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and diabetes self-management with stress levels of people with diabetes mellitus who went on a diet. This study uses a cross-sectional design. The total samples obtained were 106 respondents with multistage sampling, inclusion criteria included patients with DM <5 years with a range of ages 35-55 years, did not use insulin injection, DM patients were still married and lived with their families. Data are obtained with questionnaire of Knowledge of Diabetic Diet Questionnaire (KDDQ), a Self-Management Dietary Behaviors Questionnaire (SMDBQ), and a stress level on a diet. Data analyzed by the Spearman Rho. The results showed that the level of knowledge (p=0.049; r=-0.192) and diabetes self-management (p=0,000; r=-0,341) had a relationship to stress levels while on a diet. Diabetes self-management has a very strong relationship to the level of knowledge of the stress level of diabetics with diet. Future studies are expected to be able to use respondents with a wider area and develop better interventions to increase knowledge about diets in people with diabetes mellitus. Keywords: diabetes mellitus, diet, self-management, stress level

Abstract

Introduction: Incidence of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) among Indonesian Migrant Workers (TKI) returning from his destination countries, especially in East Java is quite high. Stress experienced by the patient is affected bythe family member maladaptive behaviors; thus affect healing process and even increased mortality. The purpose of this study was to analyze the response of the bio-psycho-socio-spiritual family of Indonesian Workers who are infected with HIV and compared with the response of non-family workers who are infected with HIV.Method: Research design was comparative to reveal the response of the bio-psycho-socio-spiritual families of HIV-infected familyof migrant workers and non-migrant workers. The population was family of both migrant and non-migrant in two districts in East Java in 2014. Sample of 17 people were recruited by simple random sampling technique. Data were performed at the family home, including biologic response (venous blood sampling for cortisol examination), and measurement of the psychological, social and responses by using questionnaires and interviews. Data were analysed with statistical t test and Mann-Whitney test with a significance level of 0.05.Result: The results showed no differences in the biological response of HIV patients’ families among migrant and non-migrant workers (p = 0.000) although the majority of respondents were in the normal range or not stress. In contrast, the psychology, social and spiritual responsesshowed no statistically significant difference with p = 0.065, p = 0.057, p = 0.243 for psychological, social, and spiritual responses respectively.Discussion: There is a difference in the biological response (cortisol) in the group of family and relatives of patients with HIV among migrant workers compared with non-migrant workers, but there is no statistical difference in the psychological, social and spiritualresponses.

Abstract

Introduction: Public awareness of healthy lifestyles cause a change in the selection of foodstuffs for consumption. Bananas and breadfruit flour additions increase the fiber content on the noodles. The purpose of this study was to determine the composition of noodles flour substitute on the effect on an increase in the lowest Glucose levels. Methods: The research design was pretest posttest control group design. Sample obtained as many as 58 students of the Faculty of Nursing University of Airlangga who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. 58 samples were divided into three groups, namely Noodles A (control), B (substitution 30%) and C (substitution 20%). Glucose levels examination carried out before eating noodles and 60 minutes after eat it. The data analysis of this study was the one-way ANOVA. Results: Based on the one-way ANOVA test was obtained p = 0.000 (p <0.050), which means no differences in outcomes in all three groups. The highest increasing of glucose levels is group A and the lowest in group B. Discussion: The addition of banana and breadfruit flour on the noodles can reduce the increase in the glucose levels after eat it. Further research needs to be done to determine the content of noodles with a banana and breadfruit flour and glucose’s responses in patients with diabetic mellitus.

Abstract

Introduction: Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a retrovirus that infects cells of the immune system, destroying or damaging the function of cells of the immune system. A lot of new detected HIV transmission source comes from former workers who work abroad. The challenge is how to improve the psychological response of people living with HIV (PLWHA) to be able to socialize confident and not worry about the stigma. The purpose of this study is to implement the model of family support Indonesian Workers who are infected with HIV and Peer Support Group through modules implemented by families and peer groups. Methods: This study was used a quasy-experimental. Population in this study were the PLWHA who contracted during work abroad as migrant workers in East Java. Samples were selected using simple random sampling technique. The independent variable were the family and peer group support, the dependent variable was the psychological response of respondents. Data were collected using a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability and results were tested using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with alpha ≤0.05 and supported by the implementation of the focus group respondents as a reinforcement of the qualitative results.Results: The results showed that this method can improve psychological response of the PLWHA during labor as migrant workers abroad with a significance value of p=0.040. Qualitative results stated that the majority of respondents found the meaning of life that is surrendered to God Almighty.Discussion: Family and peer group support can be used to increase the psychological response of the PLWHA during work abroad as migrant workers. Future studies are expected to use a larger sample so as to have a control group.

Abstract

Introduction: The CB of clinical nursing students is very important but they are still in the implementation phase of the theory from when it was learned in college. This study aims to describe the correlation between intelligence quotient (IQ), emotional intelligence (EI) and spiritual intelligence (SI) with caring behavior (CB).Methods: This study was descriptive and correlational with a cross-sectional approach. The respondents of this research were all of the clinical nursing students (166 respondents) via the simple random sampling technique. The data was collected using questionnaires and analyzed using the Spearman-rho test with a level of significance ≤ 0.05.Results: The results showed that CB had a correlation with IQ (p=0.019, r=0.211), EI (p=0.048, r=0.178) and SI (p=0.000, r=0.456).Conclusion: IQ, EI, and SI have a correlation with CB. A higher quotient will produce a higher CB. Future research is expected to be able to analyze the other factors related to CB among clinical nursing students.

Abstract

Introduction: Caring is the core or focus in nursing as a form of professional nursing practice. The current caring instrument is an original instrument that measures the attitudes or behavior of nurses, has not paid attention to the administrative and environmental aspects of the hospital. The use of an instrument that does not yet contain certain characteristics gives rise to improper measurement results. The purpose of this study was to explain the importance of developing caring measurement instruments with an Indonesian perspective.Methods: Systematic reviews were carried out from database articles on ScienceDirect, Scopus, Google Scholar, SpringerLink, Wiley online, Proquest, and EBSCOhost. Criteria for articles were articles published in the last 10 years, national and international research locations, and in Indonesian and English. 15 references were obtained from 2100 references that met the predetermined criteria. The development of a caring behavior instrument based on an Indonesian perspective does not yet exist.Results: The results found that development on the basis of linguistics, cultural adjustment, and according to the prevalence of disease in a country because the epidemiology of the disease differs on the climate region.Conclusion: Specific caring instruments in an Indonesian perspective is expected that the research results will be more accurate.

Abstract

Background: Peripheral neuropathy is a long-term complication that attacks the nerves and loses the sensation of protection which affects about 50% of people with diabetes mellitus (DM). Diabetic foot exercises can help blood circulation, especially in the legs or lower limbs. This researched aimed to analyze the effect of diabetic foot exercise on sensory peripheral neuropathy in DM clients.Method: The study design used quasi-experimental pre-post test with control group. Samples were 28 respondents using purposive sampling and divided into two groups of 14 respondents each. The independent variable is diabetic foot training, and the dependent variable is peripheral sensory neuropathy. Interventions are carried out 3 times a week for 4 weeks. The research instrument was Weinstein Monofilament 10 g Semmes and a diabetic foot training checklist. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon-signed rank test and Mann Whitney test with α≤0.05.Result: The Wilcoxon-signed rank test in the treatment group showed differences in sensory peripheral neuropathy after treatment (p=0,000) and no difference in the control group (p=0.564). The Mann Whitney test results showed differences in sensory peripheral neuropathy between the treatment group and the control group after treatment p=0.039.Conclusion: Diabetic foot exercises can be used as an alternative measure to improve sensory peripheral neuropathy.
