Abstract

Salah satu tujuan pembelajaran matematika diberikan di sekolah adalah agar siswa memiliki kemampuan dalam pemecahan masalah. Materi matematika yang sisajikan di SD, merupakan materi yang berkaitan erat dengan permasalahan kehidupan sehari-hari. Sehingga untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan tersebut dibutuhkan kemampuan siswa dalam menerjemahkan permasalahan sehari-hari dalam bahasa matematika. Untuk itu diperlukan kemampuan siswa dalam komunikasi matematis. Kemampuan tersebut perlu dilatihkan dalam proses pembelajaran melalui aktivitas pemecahan masalah. Pembelajaran yang mendukung terjadinya aktivitas pemecahan masalah mendorong partisipasi siswa secara aktif dalam pembelajaran yang tentunya berpotensi mendorong terciptanya pendekatan student centere dalam pembelajaran. Salah satu model pembelajaran dengan pendekatan student centere adalah model Problem Based Learning. Kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa SD kelas V dapat dikembangkan melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning. Upaya peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dilakukan melalui penelitian tindakan kelas pada siswa kelas V SD IT Uli Arga Patumbak Kabupaten Deli Serdang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa untuk setiap indikator meningkat di setiap siklusnya. Tingkat pencapaian komunikasi matematis untuk indikator menghubungkan benda nyata dan gambar ke dalam idea matematika, menjelaskan situasi dan relasi matematika secara lisan atau tulisan dengan benda nyata dan gambar, menyatakan peristiwa sehari-hari dalam bahasa atau simbol matematika, dan menentukan informasi penting yang berkaitan dengan permasalahan pada kategori baik sekali.

Abstract

Mathematics is a discipline that focuses on developing thinking skills. Learning mathematics can hone critical thinking skills, which form the foundation for understanding mathematical concepts and effectively solving problems. This Classroom Action Research (PTK) study was conducted to improve students' critical mathematical thinking skills through a PBL approach. Medical School Negeri 2 Medan was the site of the research. A total of 36 students from the 2023/2024 academic year at SMA Negeri 2 Medan's class XI MIPA 9 served as the study subjects. There were two cycles to this research, and each one included the following steps: preparation, action, observation, and reflection. The data was analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis, and the methods for data gathering included both tests and non-tests. The results showed that the PBL model has improved the critical mathematical thinking skills of students in class XI MIPA 9 at SMA Negeri 2 Medan. In the first cycle, students' critical mathematical thinking skills reached 75.52% with a high qualification, and in the second cycle, they increased to 87.27% with a very high qualification.

Abstract

Mathematics is a vital discipline, yet it is often considered complicated by students. This results in their low mathematical understanding, which is very important in learning mathematics to solve problems more easily and relate the concepts understood. “This study used a class action research method (PTK) on students of class XI IPA-3 SMA Negeri 2 Medan in the 2023/2024 academic year, totaling 36 people. In this study, data were collected through observation sheets, learning outcome tests, and documentation to evaluate the mathematical understanding ability of students in class XI-IPA 3 at SMA Negeri 2 Medan. The results showed a significant improvement after the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model, as seen from the results of the initial ability test, cycle I test, and cycle II test”.
