Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh pemberian ekstrak daun bandotan terhadap perubahan performa karkas dan penurunan jumlah koloni mikroba pada usus ayam broiler. Percobaan  ini menggunakan 45 ekor doc ayam broiler , perlakuan baru diberikan pada umur 25 hari. Pengujian dilakukan pada 3 kelompok, yaitu kelompok P0: tanpa pemberian ekstrak air daun bandotan (kontrol); Kelompok P1 dan P2 diberi ekstrak air daun bandotan masing-masing pada dosis 1,5 ml dan 3 ml dengan dicekokkan melalui oral selama 6 hari. Pada hari ke-7 dilakukan pengambilan data. Dari hasil penelitian diketahui rata- rata persentase karkas71,8% (K) ; 72,3% (P1) ; 72,1%(P2). Analisis sidik ragam menunjukkan bahwa persentase karkas tidak berbeda nyata (P0,05) dipengaruhi oleh pemberian ekstrak daun bandotan. Sedangkan rata-rata persentase lemak abdomen 1,6% (kontrol); 1,5% (P1); 1,4% (P2) hasil analisis juga tidak menunjukkan perbedaan nyata dikarenakan pemberian ekstrak daun bandotan dengan nilai P0,05. Rata-rata angka Total Plate Count (TPC) masing-masing perlakuan adalah 8,3 x 105 CFU/ml (K) ; 7,6 X 105 CFU/ml (P1) ; 6,4 x 105 CFU/ml (P2). Walau hasil analisis sidik ragam untuk TPC tidak menunjukkan perbedaan nyata dengan nilai P 0,05. tetapi dari angka rata-rata memiliki kecendrungan menurun. Hal ini mengindikasikan daun bandotan mempunyai potensi untuk dijadikan salah satu bahan alami untuk menggantikan antibiotika yang berbahan baku kimia.

Abstract

The aimed of this study was to determine the effect of storage time of pasteurized cow's milk in a the certain period of time on pH value and reductase score. A total of 4 liters of cow's milk as a cage samples purchased from UD. Atjeh Live stock Farm Lamnyong Darussalam wasexamined for pH value and reductase score after pasteurized and stored for 28 days at refrigerator temperature (2-4C). The design used in thisstudy was completely randomized design with five treatments and four replications. Group I was control group, group II, III, IV, and V werestored for 7, 14, 21, and 28 days, respectively. The results showed that pasteurized milk stored for 28 days showed a different pH values, but thedifference in pH within SNI standard (P 0.05). Based on the reductase score, milk is able to keep for only 2 weeks, while in third and fourthweek, the reductase score is not accepted by SNI standard with the value of 1.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Key words: reductation score, pH degrees, pasteurization, milk

Abstract

Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is one of the most important infectious diseases in cattle breeding. Bovine respiratory disease complex (BRDC) is a respiratory disease in mature and calf cattle which is a viral and bacterial superinfection including BVDV. The purpose of reseach is to study the role of BVDV in cases of Bovine respiratory disease complex (BRDC), especially with the characteristic of lesions were granulomatous pneumonia. The material in this study was lung tissue that was fixed with 10% formaldehyde buffer of calf sampel collected in October and November 2019. The sample is processed in a pathology laboratory for hematoxyline eosin (HE) staining and followed by immunohistochemical staining (IHC). A total of 11 lung samples sent from imported beef cattle and dairy cattle with a diagnosis of pneumonia complex morphology continued with CPI testing with monoclonal antibodies against bovine viral diarrhea virus. Nine samples showed positive CPI results against BVDV and two other samples were negative. Bovine viral diarrhea virus is detected in all granulomatous pneumonia, so it has an important role in BRDC. Early detection, treatment and prevention of BRDC affected or followed by BVDV must be carried out programmatically.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of eggs immersed in extracts of bandotan leaves on the organoleptic quality, haugh unit, and yolk index. The samples used were 105 eggs, weighing of 51.33 ± 55.9 grams collected from the farm in Jantho. By using a completely randomized design with factorialpattern the samples were divided into five treatment groups. P0 (control) was not given any treatment , P1 was immersed in 10 % bandotan leaf extract for12 hours, P2 was immersed in 10% bandotan leaf extract for 24 hours , P3 was immersed in 20% bandotan leaf extract for 12 hours and P4 wasimmersed in 20% bandotan leaf extract for 24 hours. The observation interval was done on week 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4. The organoloeptic observation of alleggs showed that either eggs on P1and P2 treatment showed no significant changes until week 4. The HU value of P0, P1, and P3 were 68.16 (grade A),70.34 (grade A), and 75.89 (grade AA), respectively. Yolk index value of P0, P1,and P2 were 0.65, 0.71, and 0.74 , respectively. Abstract

This study aims to determine the quality of eggs from Farm, distributors and retail stores. The sample used is 66 eggs with details taken randomly at the farm is 9 eggs, distributors is 27 eggs and retail stores is 30 eggs. The observed egg quality is the value of Haugh unit, Yolk Index and Albumin Index. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the average Haugh value of egg units in farms, distributors and retail stores were 91, 72 and 7. The Yolk Index values for eggs in farms, distributors and retail stores were 0.45, 0.35. and 0.36. Meanwhile, the albumin index of eggs in farms, distributors and retail stores was 0.074, 0.050 and 0.046. Egg quality in farms, distributors and retail stores is in the category (grade) AA (HU value 72) and A (HU value 60-72). Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the quality of eggs traded in Banda Aceh and its surroundings is very good (included in the AA and A grade categories).

Abstract

This study aims to identify ectoparasites and endoparasites in the Peunayong Fish Market, Banda Aceh City. The number of shark samples used in this study was 10 which were taken randomly. Parasitic examination is carried out on the surface of the body by means of scraping and natively. While examination of the visceral organs of fish by necropsy. Parasite identification was done by microscopic. The results showed that the Chilodonella sp. parasite infected the stingrays  of 10 sharks examined. The parasite species that infects sharks (Selachimorpha) in the Peunayong Fish Market in Banda Aceh City is Chilodonella sp, including the ectoparasite category that infects shark skin with a prevalence rate of 6.67%.

Abstract

This research was aimed to study the number of cases attacking by dog as rabies risk animals (RRA) and the level of knowledge, attitude, and practice of the community in four sub-districts of Banda Aceh. The study was conducted using survey method by interviewing 60 respondents with structured questionnaire. The results of this research showed that respondent or their relatives which had been bitten by RRA was 26.7%-30.0%. The level of respondent knowledge to rabies in these two categories area can be categorized as moderate (76.6%). The attitude of respondent in preparedness of RRA was categorized as good (90-96.7%). Then, the practice of respondent in preparedness of RRA was categorized as moderate (83.3-96.7%). It is concluded that the level of knowledge, attitude, and practice of the community in those two categories sub-districts is at moderate level.

Abstract

Shrimp is an easily polluted material, so it requires good handling. Contamination can occur during harvest, handling, or transportation. This study aims to detect Escherichia coli contamination in vaname shrimp sold at TPI Lampulo Banda Aceh. A total of 10 samples of vaname shrimp were obtained from 10 merchants at TPI Lampulo. The research method used is observational, and the data analysis is done descriptively. The detection of E. coli contamination was carried out by the total plate count (TPC) test method. Based on the study results, two of the 10 samples of vaname shrimp merchant detected E. coli bacterial contamination, namely the results of sample 01 merchant indicated the number of TPC 2x102 CFU/g and in 09 merchants indicated the number of TPC 11x101 CFU/g. The TPC results were indicated by the growth of E. coli colonies on eosin methylene blue agar (EMBA) media after incubation for 24 hours at 37 ºC. The number of the two detected positive samples showed less than 1x103 CFU/g by the provisions of SNI 2332.3:2015. Thus, it can be concluded that E. coli contamination was detected in vaname shrimp sold by the merchant at TPI Lampulo but did not exceed the SNI threshold, so it was safe for consumption.

Abstract

ABSTRAKIkan yang dijual di pasar tidak menutup kemungkinan terkontaminasi oleh bakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeteksi adanya cemaran bakteri Shigella sp. pada ikan kuniran (Upeneus sulphureus) di pasar Al-Mahira Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei cross-sectional dan pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode sampling jenuh (sensus). Pemeriksaan sampel menggunakan metode Carter. Sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini sebanyak 12 ekor ikan, yang diambil dari 4 pedagang ikan di pasar Al-Mahira Banda Aceh. Ikan dibedah secara aseptis dan ususnya diambil kemudian dimasukkan ke dalam media Nutrient Broth (NB) dan diinkubasi pada suhu 37℃ selama 24 jam. Kemudian dilakukan penanaman pada media Salmonella Shigella Agar (SSA) dan diinkubasikan kembali pada suhu 37℃ selama 24 jam. Hasil penanaman pada media SSA menunjukkan bahwa semua sampel positif terkontaminasi Shigella sp. yang ditandai dengan adanya bulat berwarna bening pada koloni yang ditanam. Selanjutnya koloni bakteri yang tumbuh dilakukan pewarnaan Gram dan diperiksa secara mikroskopis. Hasil pewarnaan Gram menunjukkan bakteri yang terlihat berwarna pink/merah dan berbatang pendek, yang menunjukkan bakteri tersebut adalah genus Shigella sp. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa semua sampel yang diperiksa positif tercemar bakteri Shigella sp.ABSTRACTFish sold in the market does not rule out being contaminated by bacteria. This study aims to detect the presence of bacterial contamination Shigella sp. on kuniran fish (Upeneus sulphureus) at Al-Mahira market Banda Aceh. This study used a cross-sectional survey method and sampling using the sampling jenuh method. Samples were examinated using the Carter method. The samples used in study were 12 fish taken from 4 fish traders in the Al-Mahira market Banda Aceh. Fish were dissected aseptically and their intestines were removed and the put in Nutrient Broth (NB) media and incubated at 37 ℃ for 24 hours. Then it was planted on Salmonella Shigella Agar (SSA) media and re-incubated at 37 ℃ for 24 hours. The results of planting on SSA media showed that all positive samples were contaminated with Shigella sp. which was indicated by presence of clear colored circles on the planted column. Futhermore, the column of bacteria that grew was stained with Gram stain and examined microscopically. The result of Gram staining showed that the bacteria were pink/red and had short trunks, which indicated that the bacteria were of genus Shigella sp. The result of the study can be concluded that all samples used were positively contaminated with Shigella sp.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui potensi ekstrak air dan ekstrak etanol daun katuk (Sauropus androgynus) sebagai antelmintik dalam mengurangi jumlah nematoda gastrointestinal pada ternak kambing. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan 15 ekor kambing kacang jantan lokal berumur 1 tahun dengan bobot badan awal 12,6±1,15 kg. Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak lengkap dengan 3 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Ketiga perlakuan tersebut adalah P0 (kontrol) hanya diberi akuades; P1, diberikan ekstrak air daun katuk sebanyak 7,44 g/hari; dan P2, diberikan ekstrak etanol daun katuk sejumlah 1,89 g/hari. Perlakuan diberikan per oral sebanyak 2 kali sehari selama 40 hari. Makanan kambing berupa hijauan diberikan 2 kali sehari, sedangkan air minum diberikan ad libitum. Data berat badan dan jumlah nematoda dalam feses dihitung pada hari ke-0, 10, 20, 30, dan 40 pascaperlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak air dan ekstrak etanol daun katuk menurunkan jumlah telur nematoda gastrointestinal pada kambing secara signifikan (P
