Abstract

This article contains a discussion about the relationship of reading ability and motivation to learn with the ability to write high school students Kodya Padang. The purpose of writing this article to determine the relationship between the ability to read and motivation to the ability to write high school students of SMU  Kodya Padang. For this the authors use the theory of reading ability, learning motivation and ability. This type of research is quantitative because of its nature that contains a series of numbers so as to make predictions for the future. Type of research used test and questionnaire. The results showed based on the proposed hypothesis: (1) There is a significant relationship between the ability to read and write high school students  of SMUKodya Padang. (2) There is a significant correlation between learning motivation and writing skill of SMU Kodya Padang. (3) There is a significant correlation between reading ability and simultaneous learning motivation toward the writing skill of SMU Kodya Padang. Thus the research hypothesis Ho rejected and Ha accepted, of course the results showed that the students of SMU Kodya Padang utilize the ability to read and motivation to improve learning skills. They are not only limited to writing a free article, behind the theories they wrote.Key word: reading ability, motivation to learn, writing ability

Abstract

The application of the AP4M model of reading skills was carried out in the Tanah Ombak reading park based on observations and interviews with the culture and learning methods of the Minangkabaau Natural School students as well as students in the Tanah Ombak reading park. The purpose of the study was to describe the reading ability of the Tanah Ombak Reading Community students. The theory used is the theory by Akaaya (2012), Haromi (2014), and Akin (2014). The methods used in this research are qualitative and quantitative methods. The research subjects were 8 students at Tanah Ombak Reading Park which consisted of 3 students in grade 3, 6 students in grade 4, 4 students in grade 5 and 5 students in grade 6. The results of data analysis showed that the average score obtained by grade 3 students as much as 9.50, the average value obtained by grade 4 students is 8.15, the average value obtained by grade 5 students is 7.50, and the average value obtained by grade 6 students is 8.48. reading with the AP4M model, the students of Tanah Ombak Reading Park are able to read well with a score of 8.29 in the very good category

Abstract

Kenagarian Kapau Kecamatan Tilatang Kamang Kabupaten Agam terdiri dari 3 sidang yaitu sidang Induring, sidang Pandan Basasak dan sidang Pasia Parak Maru. Masing-masing siding memiliki satu Sekolah Dasar. SD 01 terletak di siding Pandan Basasak, SD 07 terletak di Sidang Induring dan SDNegeri 21 terletak di Sidang Pasia Parak Maru. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk melihat pelaksanaan pendidikan Sekolah Dasar yang ada di Kenagarian Kapau Kecamatan Tilatang Kamang Kabupaten Agam. Meode penelitian yaitu, observasi, angket, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kepemimpinan kepala sekolah sangat baik, iklim sekolah sagat baik, kinerja guru sangat baikkepengawasan sekolah kategori baik, partisipasi orang tua kategori baik.Simpulan ditemukan adalah bahwa pelaksanaan pendidikan di sekolah Dasar di Kenagaraian Kapau Kecamatan Tilatang Kamang berjalan dengan baik.

Abstract

Minangkabau custom and tradition has a sets of rules for women, so that they can maintain their privileges. One of the rules is called Sumbang Duo Baleh. However, today, the rules tend to be violated. This can be seen in the behavior of female students at school. This study aims to determine students' understanding of Sumbang Duo Baleh as a prohibition on behavior and character building, implementation of the culture of Minang women, and re-encouraging these rules at high school at West Sumatera. The research data was collected by observation, questionnaire and  interview to the teachers, The results of this study are as follows: (1) female students did not understand the rules of Sumbang Duo Balehas a prohibition in behaving. This is due to the generation that many women who have forgotten their identity as Minang women, (2) From the results of interviews with teachers, the character building of female students do not implement and socialize the rules existing in the traditional Tambo. To recultivate the understanding towards Sumbang Duo Baleh culture by socializing and implementing the ins and outs of the rules during learning process and extracurricular activities at school. AbstrakAdat Minangkabau menetapkan suatu aturan kepada perempuan, agar ia bisa menjaga keistimewaannya. Salah satu aturannya adalah sumbang duo baleh. Kenyataannya pada perempuan zaman sekarang, aturan perempuan Minang tersebut, cenderung dilanggar. Hal ini terlihat pada tingkah laku siswa perempuan di sekolah yang telah melanggar aturan budaya Minang yang dituangkan dalam sumbang duo baleh seperti : sumbang duduak, sumbang tagak, sumbang jalan, sumbang kato, sumbang caliak, sumbang makan, sumbang pakai, sumbang karajo, sumbang tanyo, sumbang jawek, sumbang bagaua, sumbang kurenah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengimplementasikan budaya Minang melalui sumbang duo baleh, dalam rangka pembentukan karakter perempuan Minang di sekolah menengah di Sumatera Barat. Sedangkan metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus yang menghasilkan data deskriptif. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan cara observasi, angket melalui google form dan wawancara  dengan beberapa guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa :  (1) Ditemukan pelanggaran sumbang duo baleh pada siswa perempuan pada masing-masing tingkatan kelas dalam berperilaku seperti sumbang duduak, sumbang tagak, sumbang bagaua, sumbang kato,  sumbang karajo, sumbang caliak, sumbang makan , sumbang jalan. Hal ini disebabkan generasi perempuan banyak yang telah melupakan jati dirinya sebagai seorang perempuan Minang, (2) Dari hasil wawancara dengan guru, pembentukan karakter siswa perempuan minang tidak mencerminkan budaya perempuan Minang. Salah satu faktor penyebabnya adalah banyaknya orang tua di rumah yang tidak menyampaikan lagi masalah aturan yang ada dalam tambo adat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa untuk pembentukan karakter dan jati diri perempuan Minang diperlukan implementasi pemahaman sumbang duo baleh, dengan cara mensosialisasikan dan mengimplementasikan seluk beluk sumbang duo baleh pada saat PBM dan ekstrakurikuler.

Abstract

The main issue discussed in this article is the students’ low interest in reading textbooks. In addition, students do not use various techniques. As a result, they feel bored, and less concentrated when reading. The theory used in this research is the reading theory proposed by Tarigan (2008), reading comprehension techniques by Agustina (2008) and SQ3R reading techniques by Ermanto (2008) and Agustina (2008). This type of research is quantitative research using experimental method with SQ3R reading techniques. The population of this study were Indonesian Language and Literature Education students of FKIP Bung Hatta University who took the Reading Teaching Skills course. The sample was elected purposively. Based on data analysis, it was found that students did not apply the SQ3R reading technique well in determining the theme, plot, background, characterization, point of view and mandate, with an average value of 80.5. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the use of SQ3R reading techniques towards students’ reading comprehension at FKIP of Bung Hatta University Padang.

Abstract

This article uncovers the process of code mixing that occurred in a dialogue conducted by the Former Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan with iNews TV presenter. The purpose of this study is to describe the forms of code mixing, the types of code mixing and the forms of code mixing carried out by Anies Baswedan. The research method applied is descriptive qualitative, namely by listening techniques and recording the results of conversations contained in the research object. The source of the data in this study is the utterances delivered by Anies Baswedan during a dialogue broadcast by iNews TV stations and uploaded to the iNews TV YouTube channel. From the research conducted, there is a phenomenon of code mixing in the dialogue, namely the existence of external code mixing in the form of transitions from Indonesian to English in the form of words, phrases and clauses.

Abstract

The purpose of research on Indonesian spelling errors in official letters at the Siulak Mukai sub-district office is to describe errors in punctuation marks and letters. The background of this research is that there are still many errors in using Indonesian spelling in writing official letters at the Siulak Mukai district office. The type of research used is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The data source is official letters issued by the Siulak Mukai sub-district office in 2020 for the January–December period of 25 letters. The data collection technique was carried out through observation and document analysis techniques. Data analysis techniques consist of two activities simultaneously, namely data reduction and data presentation. From the analysis carried out on 25-letter data, it was found that there were errors in using dots in 23-letter data, or 92% of errors. Errors in using commas amount to as many as 14 data letters, or 56% of errors. Slash mark errors can be as high as 10 letters, or 40% of the time. Hyphen error amounts to as much as one letter of data or a 4% error. Capital letter errors accounted for 21 letters or 84% of all errors. Italics errors are as common as four-letter data, accounting for 16% of all errors. The error in using bold letters is four, or 16% of the time.

Abstract

The article contains the process of learning Indonesian in Elementary Schools (SD) with an ecoliteracy perspective. This is done on the basis that the government through the curriculum urges every citizen to be wise to the environment. Concretely, this is done in a planned manner at every level of education, especially at the elementary school (SD) level in Indonesian language subjects. The approach used is to use the method of content analysis (content analysis). The content analysis carried out is to describe and explain ecoliteracy-based language learning strategies in the form of using texts with ecological intelligence insight that can contribute to the character of caring for the environment. . language learning in elementary schools (SD). Based on the approach taken, the cultivation of an attitude of caring for the environment in elementary schools is carried out by using contextual texts, such as the content of intelligence on the environment. The text presented by the teacher is a condition of environmental damage caused by disobedient human behavior, such as throwing garbage in its place. The text presented certainly reflects a balance between the narrative of events and images that reflect the environment, such as floods and landslides. In principle, teachers must be able to explore how important it is to protect the surrounding environment.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Data bersumber dari teks novel Layangan Putus karya Mommy ASF dan novel Terusir karya  Hamka. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Data bersumber dari teks novel Layangan Putus karya Mommy ASF dan novel Terusir karya  Hamka. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat nilai feminisme dan konflik sosial dalam kedua novel. Novel Layangan Putus karya Mommy ASF ditemukan 42 data  yang menggambarkan nilai feminisme dan 35 data yang menggambarkan konflik sosial. Sedangkan novel Terusir karya  Hamka ditemukan 14 data gambaran nilai feminisme dan 28 data yang menggambarkan konflik sosial. Hubungan intertekstual dari kedua novel yang dilihat dari segi unsur intrinsik yaitu, tokoh, alur, latar dan tema. Persamaan dari kedua novel adalah Kinan dan Mariah sama-sama seorang istri yang mendapatkan ketidak adilan dari suami mereka. Suami Kinan dan juga Mariah telah berkhianat, melukai perasaan dan melupakan janjinya sebelum menikah. Perbuatan masing-masing suami membuat hidup kedua tokoh utama penuh dilema, perjuangan berat serta cobaan yang berliku dalam kehidupannya. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan antara nilai feminisme dan konflik sosial diantara kedua tokoh utama. Pada novel Layangan Putus Kinan wanita yang hidup di zaman moderen lebih berani mengungkapkan perasaannya terhadap hal-hal yang membuatnya tidak nyaman terhadap lingkungan dan orang-orang disekitarnya. Sedangkan dalam novel Terusir Mariah wanita yang hidup di zaman belanda cendrung penurut dan polos cenderung sulit untuk mengungkapkan dan membantah keadaan yang membahayakannya.

Abstract

This research was motivated by observations and interviews of learning tools for reading skills lectures in the Indonesian Language and Literature study program, Bung Hatta University. It is known that reading courses are generally given in the form of minimal reading theory and practice. As a result, students have difficulty understanding the reading text because students do not know the genre of the text being read. To solve this problem, one of the alternatives proposed is to apply the AP4M Model in Reading Comprehension of Narrative Text Genres through E-Learning. The research objective was to describe students' reading comprehension skills using the AP4M model. This research uses qualitative and quantitative methods. The research subjects were students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program, Bung Hatta University, Padang, class 2019/2020. The results showed that the students' ability to determine themes and messages was 8.90; determine the type of narrative text and its description 8.90; determine the structure of the narrative text genre 9.80; determine the character of the character 7.8. The results of the research on the application of the AP4M Model in reading comprehension of the narrative text genre of students were 8.6 with the very good category.
