Abstract

The aim of this research was to identify wool characteristic of Priangan sheep (G) and its crossbred with St. Croix (H) and M. Charolais (M). The parameters observed included yield, fiber length, fiber diameter, percentage of shrink during processing, yarn production, strength and elasticity of the yarn. Eighteen rams of Priangan, HMG and MHG crossbred were used. Completely Randomized Design with 6 replications and One Way analyses were used in data analysing, except for strength and yarn elasticity, 10 replication were used. The results show that breed had no significant effect (P>0.05) on yield, diameter of fine fiber, and shrinking percentage during separation and carding process. In contrast, breed had significant effect on fiber length (P<0.01) and on coarse fiber diameter, the shrink, strength and yarn elasticity (P<0.05). In general, the wool of HMG and MHG crossbred had better quality compared to Priangan sheep, although yarn production was higher in Priangan sheep.   Key words: Wool, Priangan sheep, crossbred

Abstract

The quality of sheep carcass is mostly determined by the total lean meat production, meat distribution on the carcass and the quality of meat. Calpastatin gene (CAST) is known to have an association with carcass and meat quality traits. The objective of this research was to identify the association between CAST polymorphisms and carcass characteristics in Thin Tail Sheep (TTS). Thirty three heads of sheep representing three genotypes of CAST (CAST-11, CAST-12 and CAST-22) were identified for carcass and meat characterisation. There was no significant difference between CAST polymorphisms with meat tenderness, pH, water holding capacity and cooking loss, neither with carcass weight and dressing percentage among genotypes. Shoulder proportion of CAST-11 genotype was larger than that of CAST-12 or CAST-22, but the lean meat proportion of CAST-22 genotype in shoulder, rack and loin were higher than those of CAST-11 but not different from CAST-12. The fat percentage of CAST-11 was the highest among the genotypes. CAST-22 genotype has higher lean meat percentage than the CAST-11. Variation in CAST gene could be used as marker assisted selection in sheep for higher lean meat proportion. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pola konsumsi dan menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pengambilan keputusan konsumen dalam mengkonsumsi beras organik di Kota Palembang. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada empat swalayan yang berbeda di Kota Palembang 2 swalayan berada di bagian Ilir Kota Palembang dan 2 swalayan berada di bagian Ulu Kota Palembang dengan Jumlah responden yang dipilih adalah 40 orang. Metode yang dilakukan dengan metode survey dan data yang digunakan adalah data primer dan sekunder.  Pengolahan data dilakukan secara deskriptif dan regresi logistik. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat tiga pola konsumsi beras organik di Kota Palembang yaitu, pola konsumsi rutin, campuran dan tidak rutin dengan hasil pola konsumsi campuran yang terbanyak yaitu yaitu sebanyak 16 orang atau 40 persen dari total responden. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi keputusan konsumen beras dalam  mengkonsumsi beras organik (Y) adalah pendapatan (X1) , jumlah tanggungan (X2), lama pendidikan (X3), umur (X4) , dan jenis kelamin (D1) dengan hasil faktor yang berpengaruh nyata terhadap keputusan konsumen beras dalam  memilih beras organik atau anorganik untuk makanan pokok sehari-harinya berdasarkan hasil analisis regresi logistik adalah pendapatan konsumen beras (X1), Lama pendidikan konsumen beras (X3) dan jenis kelamin konsumen beras (D1) dengan nilai signifikansi lebih kecil dari 0,05 pada taraf kepercayaan 95%. Kata Kunci : Beras Organik,Pola Konsumsi, Keputusan Konsumen

Abstract

Calpastatin (CAST) gene is located on the fifth chromosome of sheep and plays important roles in formation of muscles and meat tenderness after slaughtering. Association of genetic polymorphism in the CAST gene locus MspI and NcoI with body weight was examined in local sheep from Jonggol Animal Science Teaching and Research Unit (JASTRU), Faculty of Animal Science, Bogor Agricultural University. The genotypes for CAST were determined by the PCR-RLFP method. Blood samples were collected from 264 local sheep belonging to JASTRU located in Singosari Village, Bogor District, West Java Province. Extraction of genomic DNA was based on the phenol chloroform method. CAST locus MspI had three genotypes including in MM, MN and NN with frequencies of 0.75, 0.23, and 0.02 respectively. CAST locus NcoI had two genotypes including in MM and MN with frequencies of 0.92, 0.08 respectively. Chi-square test confirmed Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium for the CAST locus MspI and NcoI. There was no significant effects (P>0.05) of CAST locus MspI and NcoI genotypes on body weight of local sheep in JASTRU.

Abstract

Calpastatin (CAST) is an indigenous inhibitor of calpain that involved in regulation of protein turn over and growth. The objective of this research was to identify genetic polymorphisms in the entire exon 6 of calpastatin gene in Indonesian local sheep. A PCR-SSCP method was carried out to identify genetic variation of CAST gene. In total 258 heads of local sheep from 8 populations were investigated, three groups of samples were Thin Tail Sheep (TTS) from Sukabumi, Jonggol, and Kissar. The rest samples were Priangan sheep (PS) from Margawati (Garut meat type) and Wanaraja (Garut fighting type) and Fat Tail Sheep (FTS) from Donggala, Sumbawa, and Rote islands. SSCP analysis revealed that three different SSCP patterns corresponded to three different alleles in the CAST locus (CAST-1, 2, and 3 allele) with five different genotypes. Genetic variation between local sheep populations were calculated based on genotypic and allelic frequencies.  Most populations studied were polymorphic, with genotype frequencies of CAST-11, CAST-12, CAST-22, CAST-32, and CAST-33 were 0.286, 0.395, 0.263, 0.046, and 0.007 respectively. CAST-1 and 2 alleles were most commonly found in all populations with total frequency was 0.970, while CAST-3 was a rare allele 0.030 and only found in TTS population. Variation in the CAST gene could be used for the next research as genetic diversity study or to find any association between CAST polymorphism with birth weight, growth trait and carcass quality in Indonesian local sheep.

Abstract

Sheep fattening farms have been recently growing rapidly to produce better quality of sheep meat and fullfill consumer's demand. Sheep fattening and breeding farms should be developed proportionally to obtain sustainable sheep flock in the market. Twelve male lambs (less than one year old) were selected based on their average daily gain (ADG), consisting into two groups: 6 fast growing (FG) and 6 slow growing (SG) sheep. Some morphometric parameters in body and head parts of sheep and their carcass production and composition were measured and compared between the groups. The results show that chest circumference, body height, body length, head length and muzzle, top and bottom neck circumferences of FG sheep were significantly higher than in SG sheep (P0.05).  It is concluded that selection of fast growing sheep can be recommended by using some morphometric parameters. The selection would not also negatively affect the weight and percentage of carcass composition.

Abstract

This study examines the existence of a logical-mathematical intelligence relationship to the learning discipline of fifth grade students at SD Negeri Pagar Air Aceh Besar District. To answer the relationship between logical-mathematical intelligence on learning discipline, researchers use a quantitative approach to the type of associative research. The sample in this study was 40 fifth grade students of Pagar Air Elementary School. Data collection techniques using tests and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used is simple regression analysis. Based on the results of data analysis shows that there is a positive and significant relationship between logical-mathematical intelligence and learning discipline of fifth grade students of SD Negeri Pagar Air. This is indicated by the value of Fcount  F table at the 5% significance level of 5.98  4.10 and the regression equation Ŷ = 76.02 + 0.99X which can predict the ups and downs of students' learning discipline. The magnitude of the influence of logical-mathematical intelligence with student learning discipline can be seen from the value of rxy = 0.370, r count is greater than rtable at a significance level of 5% ie 0.370  0.320, meaning that logical-mathematical intelligence contributes 13.69%. Thus it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between logical-mathematical intelligence and the discipline of learning of fifth grade students at SD Negeri Pagar Air Aceh Besar.

Abstract

This research aims to find out more about students’ activity and how to improve their learning achievement by using the Students Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative model type on the subject of 1st Primary Mathematics at Primary Teaching Education (PGSD) of Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK). The subject of this research is the third semester students of room 4 of PGSD Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) in the year of 2018/2019, totaling 22 people. This research utilized a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics with a percentage formula. Based on the analysis data it is known that students’ activity at the first cycle have an average score of 53.6%, the second cycle have an average score of 68.57%, the third cycle have an average score of 89.29%. There is an improvement in students’ learning achievement on whole number operation material by using the STAD cooperative learning model with an average of 45.4% on the first cycle, 66.7% on the second cycle, and 80.5% on the third cycle.Keywords: Learning achievement, whole number operation, STAD cooperative model.

Abstract

This research investigates the influence of scramble-type cooperative models onstudents’ learning achievement on whole number calculation material at grade IV classof Elementary School 3 Banda Aceh. This research utilized a quantitative approach of apre-experimental type with a One Group Pretest – Posttest design. This research wasdone at one of primary schools in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, i.e, Sekolah Dasar Negeri 3,specifically grade IV class, in Banda Aceh City. The sample was chosen by usingpurposive sampling from one grade IV class – i.e. Class IV/C, with a total of 32students. The data was collected through a pre-test and a post-test and was analyzedby using the average score, deviation of the pre-test and post-test score, andhypothesis testing using t-test, which is a right-side t-test. The data was analyzed byusing a t-test statistic at the significance rate of α = 0.05. The value of tcount of 19.5was gained from the t-test hypothesis testing from the value of ttable of 1.7, whichmeans that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded thatthere exists a significant influence of scramble-type cooperative model on students’learning achievement on whole number calculation material at the grade IV class ofElementary School 3 Banda Aceh.Keywords: scramble-type cooperative model, learning achievement, wholenumber calculation operation.

Abstract

KARAKTERISASI VARISTOR ZnO-Bi203-CuO. Untuk mengetahui peran CuO dalam pembentukan varistor, pembuatan dan karakterisasi varistor ZnO-Bi2O3-CuO telah dilakukan. Dalam studi ini dilakukan penyinteran pelet ZnO-0,8% mol Bi203 yang ditambahi 0,5; 1 dan 2 % mol CuO pada suhu 1100°C selama 1 jam. Pelet sinter dianalisis memakai metode metalografi dan difraksi sinar-x. Karakteristik listrik dan pelet tersebut juga dievaluasi. Penambahan CuO menaikkan tegangan patah dan memperbesar arus bocor varistor ZnO-Bi203, tetapi tidak meningkatkan faktor kenon-linearannya. Dengan konsentrasi CuO 0,5-2 % mol, harga faktor kenon-linearan yang didapat masih lebih kecil dari pada harga faktor kenon-linearan untuk varistor ZnO Bi203 dan masih lebih kecil dari pada faktor kenon-linearan untuk kebutuhan pasar (lebih besar 20), karena penambahan CuO tidak dapat membentuk jebakan elektron dalam. Hasil analisis metalografi dan difraksi sinar-x memperlihatkan bahwa pada struktur mikro varistor ZnO-Bi203-CuO, lapisan batas butir dibentuk oleh ZnO.24Bi2O3 dan butirnya dibentuk oleh larutan padat ZnO-CuO
