Abstract

Etnik Muna adalah salah satu etnik di Sulawesi Tenggara.Mayoritas agama yang dianutnya adalah agama Islam.Dalam praktik kehidupan keberagamaan, pada etnikMuna dijumpai sejumlah tradisi khususnya tradisi Haroa,yang berhubungan dengan perayaan hari-hari pentingdalam agama Islam. Dalam era globalisasi dewasa ini,tradisi Haroa masih tetap dilakukan oleh masyarakatetnik Muna meskipun sebagian masyarakat menganggaptradisi tersebut sudah tidak sesuai bahkan dari kelompokIslam tertentu, menganggap tradisi tersebut adalah sangatbertentangan dengan ajaran agama Islam, sebab dianggapkolot, mengadah-adalah atau bid’ah dan sebagainya.Namun demikian, oleh masyarakat pendukungnyaberanggapan bahwa tradisi Haroa dalam kehidupanberagama memiliki sejumlah fungsi dan makna yangsangat dijunjung tinggi,terutama dalam ranah kehidupansosial, budaya dan kehidupan religiusitas pendukungnya.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal and explain the representation of religious values ??in the practice of haroa and the relationship between cultural practices (haroa) in the diversity of the Muna people. This study uses ethnographic methods with qualitative analysis. Empirically, this research finds that in their daily life, the Muna people make religion and culture coexist in the midst of their religious social activities. Traditions and cultures that live earlier in society actually already have civilization and social rules so that when Islam developed in the life order of the Muna people there was not much change. This tradition becomes a medium in broadcasting and teaching the values ??of virtue in the teachings of Islam. The haroa tradition carried out by the Muna people from generation to generation when commemorating the Muslim holidays is the most effective medium in teaching all the commands and prohibitions of Allah SWT. The haroa tradition supports the Islamic ideology of the Muna community that hansuru-hansuru adhati, soano konohansuru, which implies that even though customs and traditions are destroyed, religion must not be destroyed. The haroa tradition for the Muna community is to emphasize always making the principles of Islam a life shield so that in every activity they always represent the values ??of Islamic teachings. Abstract

This research aims to analyze the functions and values contained in the hedaroji game as one of the traditional games of the Wanci people in the past which are now becoming extinct. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, involved observation, and discussion. Data were analyzed through analysis techniques consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that in the past the traditional game of, hedaroji served as people's entertainment, a gathering place and to strengthen the sense of kinship, and as an effort to pass the culture on to the next generation of traditions. In the traditional game, hedaroji contains sportsmanship, educational values, and religious values. Keywords: traditional games, hedaroji, function, values and marginalization

Abstract

This study aims to determine and to describe the form of street vendors resistance in Old City Central Market against Civil Service Police Razia. This study uses the theory of resistance. It interrelates with the object to be examined. In addition, this study also uses both ethnographic methods and data collection by using observation techniques and in-depth interviews. The informant selection technique is done by purposive sampling. The results of this study indicate that the street vendors resistance to Civil Service Police is caused by economic problems and the lack of jobs created by the Kendari City Government. This condition causes many informal sectors to try to create their own jobs by becoming street vendors, so they can meet their economic needs. However, the existence and activities of street vendors violate the Kendari City Government regarding Law No. 13 of 2008 concerning the Arrangement of Street Vendors. It tends to result in the emergence of resistance efforts from street vendors in the City towards the Perwali Law and Razia that carried out by the Civil Service Police.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the activities of scavenger women in supporting the family economy in the coastal bay of Kendari. Marvin Harris's Materialism Theory said that cultural materialism is based on the concept that the material conditions of society determine human consciousness and not vice versa. The research method is the ethnographic method with data collection techniques are observation techniques and in-depth interviews. The data analysis is descriptive qualitative. Data analysis is intended to simplify the data obtained in a form that was easier to read and interpret. The results of the study show that the main reason for women collecting is the low level of education of women scavengers which in the end also has implications for the low capacity of human resource women themselves. In addition, the difficult economic conditions of the family also contributed to the scavenging activities carried out by women in the coastal area of Kendari bay. Abstract

Wisata kuliner tradisional Pantai Berti Kecamatan Kolaka Kabupaten Kolaka bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan tentang kuliner tradisional yang eksis di wisata kuliner Pantai Berti, kemudian untuk mengetahui bagaimana strategi pemilik wisata kuliner agar tetap eksis/bertahan di Pantai Berti. Artikel ini mengacu pada teori yang dikemukakan oleh John W. Bennet (1967) tentang strategi adaptasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian etnografi, dengan pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik pengamatan terlibat (participation observation) dan wawancara mendalam (indepth interview). Keberadaan kuliner tradisional yang ada di Pantai Berti Kecamatan Kolaka Kabupaten Kolaka, ada yang masih eksis dan juga ada beberapa yang sudah tidak eksis. Kuliner yang masih eksis adalah kuliner ikan bakar baronang, sop kikil, palleko ayam dan lain sebagainya. Sedangkan kuliner yang tidak eksis lagi seperti kuliner tradisioal sinonggi, itik rekko, lemang bakar, bakso setan dan lain sebagainya. Penyebab ketidakeksisan dari beberapa kuliner tersebut disebabkan karena rasanya yang sering berubah-ubah dan tidak lagi digemari oleh pengunjung wisata kuliner. Adapun strategi yang digunakan oleh pemilik warung/kafe untuk mempertahankan kuliner tradisional di wisata kuliner Pantai Berti, yaitu: 1) menyediakan fasilitas hiburan (panggung musik); 2) menciptakan nuansa kafe dengan pemilihan warnanya; 3) menciptakan produk nama makanan yang unik; 4) mengutamakan kebersihan warung/kafe dan makanannya; 5) memberikan harga yang murah pada produk makanannya dan memberikan diskon kepada konsumen; serta 6) memadukan makanan modern dengan makanan tradisional.

Abstract

Kebudayaan merupakan aset daerah yang berpotensial dikembangkan dalam berbagai sektor pemerintahan. Khusus dalam bidang pariwisata, kebudayaan adalah produk yang sangat baik dikembangkan untuk menarik minat wisatawan. Oleh karena itu, pengkajian potensi daerah sebagai tujuan wisata budaya menjadi dilakukan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan potensi budaya yang dimiliki Kecamatan Wundulako sehingga dapat dijadikan sebagai daerah tujuan wisata budaya di Kabupaten Kolaka dan mejelaskan peran serta pemerintah dan masyarakat dalam mendukung Kecamatan Wundulako sebagai daerah tujuan wisata budaya di Kabupaten Kolaka. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan dua cara yakni wawancara, observasi dan studi dokumen. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa Tradisi dan budaya yang ada meliputi upacara ritual mosehe wonua sebagai upaya yang untuk mensucikan kampung/negeri agar terhindar malapetaka dan wabah penyakit, upacara ritual mesosambakai bagi bayi yang baru lahir agar anak yang dilahirkan itu terhindar dari bahaya sekaligus didoakan agar mudah rezekinya, akikah (mosere owuu), tradisi ritual perkawinan, hingga tradisi pengobatan tari lulo sangia. Pada sisi yang lain peran strategis pemerintah adalah dengan tersedianya sarana prasarana pendukung pariwisata. Selain itu, terjadwal secara baik pentas budaya dalam bentuk even budaya sebagai penggerak sektor pariwisata di Kecamatan Wundulako Kabupaten Kolaka.

Abstract

Diversity of the flora lexicon in the environment of Kaghati is part of the ethnic richness in the form of local knowledge that must be explored for the sake of environmental sustainability. This article intends to: (1) discover and portray the flora lexicon of kaghati; and (2) examine the dynamic of inter-generational comprehension. The researcher used qualitative method and upheld by quantitative method. The information required were gotten by perception, meeting, and poll strategies. At that point, the survey is directed upon 150 respondents. The extent of the respondents’ ages was from 15 to 65 years. In light of information examination, there were two discoveries discovered: (1) the flora lexicon of kaghati comprises of fifteen dictionaries as ostensible and biotic class. (2) There is an alternate degree of between generational comprehension on flora lexicon of kaghati. The old age (46-65 years) 84% (best), the middle generation (25-45 years) 74% (best), and the young generation (15-24 years) 55% (better).

Abstract

The Balinese people possess a whole range of custom and tradition in nurturing children since their early ages. One of these traditions appeared through song and called as gending rarè. For many years, Gending rarè believed for its in-depth cultural meaning. This study will analyze this practice by using semiotics’ theory. Gending rarè entitled bangun semengan encompasses norms of Balinese people which gets dominant Hinduism teaching values namely Tri Hita Karana. Throughout this song, children in Bali are exerted to preserve their environment, their cleanliness either by spirituality or physically and also to establish harmonious relationship in their family and society. Moreover, Children are encouraged to apply the teaching of palemahan and pawongan prior to the Parhyangan values.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out and to describe the dry field paddy farming system ritually related to the dry field farming pattern in Tolaki community in Kelurahan Alangga (Alangga Village) of Andoolo Sub District of Konawe Selatan (South Konawe) Regency, using Wolf’s (1983) farmer ecotype theory. This study used descriptive approach. The result of research revealed the followings. (1) Tolaki community in Kelurahan Alangga used some stages in doing dry field paddy farming. By the availability of land, the type of farmer is divided into two: the farmers cultivating the land themselves and the ones cultivating the land by borrowing land from land owner. Meanwhile, seed procurement was conducted by means of buying it, because the paddy variety planted by Tolaki community in Kelurahan today is different from that in the past. Then, land cultivation was conducted in some stages: clearing away, burning, and cleaning the burning remains. Next, hut development, fence development, planting, plant maintenance, and harvesting, and post-harvesting were conducted. Tolaki people in Kelurahan Alangga did dry field farming to satisfy household economy. (2) There were two rites related to dry field farming pattern in Tolaki community: mombodai and mombongu. It was conducted hereditarily by the people living in Kelurahan Alangga. From the result of research, it could be concluded that (1) dry field farming system in Kelurahan Alanga was conducted in patterned manner corresponding to the ancestor’s tradition maintained until today, despite many farmers using modern farming system, and (2) the rite related to dry field farming pattern was still conducted in Kelurahan Alangga, because the people still believed that the rite would affect positively the paddy they plant and their harvest.
