Abstract

Kerusakan ekosistem mangrove di Kabupaten Aceh Timur disebabkan oleh peralihan kawasan  mangrove menjadi perikanan budidaya, perkebunan sawit dan pengambilan kayu untuk bahan baku pembuatan arang secara berkala yang mengakibatkan penurunan luas ekosistem mangrove. Penelitian ini betujuan mengetahui nilai ekonomi total ekosistem mangrove Kabupaten Aceh Timur serta nilai kawasan sehingga dapat menjadi pertimbangan pemerintah dalam pengelolaan ekosistem mangrove secara berkelanjutan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perubahan luas mangrove terjadi sangat besar dalam jangka tahun 1990-2017. Pada tahun 1990 luas mangrove adalah sebesar 23.210,55 ha, namun pada tahun 2017 berdasarkan hasil citra land sat menunjukkan luas mangrove tersisa seluas 9.655,65 ha. Berdasarkan metode valuasi ekonomi yang dilakukan diperoleh hasil  nilai ekonomi total ekosistem mangrove dengan seluas 9.655,65 ha yaitu Rp 1.67 triliun per tahun. Hasil ini didapatkan dari nilai perikanan tangkap serta manfaat tidak langsung ekosistem mangrove di Kabupaten Aceh Timur. Pemanfaatan lainnya kawasan mangrove di Kabupaten Aceh Timur juga dimanfaatkan sebagai perikanan budidaya bandeng dan udang yang menyumbang nilai sebesar Rp 1.36 triliun per tahun dengan luas tambak 17.837,17 ha. Pemanfaatan lahan lainnya adalah sebagai  perkebunan sawit yang memberikan nilai sebesar  Rp 18.075.789 hektar/tahun. Nilai ini didapat dari 15 orang petani sawit yang memiliki perkebunan sawit dengan luas total 95 ha.

Abstract

Mangrove merupakan tanaman yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pencegah abrasi dan pemecah gelombang. Aksi penanaman mangrove dilakukan oleh mahasiswa dan dosen sebagai bentuk pengabdian terhadap masyarakat dengan tujuan sebagai bentuk upaya mitigasi abrasi. Pengabdian ini dilakukan pada Bulan November 2022 di Desa Peunaga, Aceh Barat. Penanaman mangrove ini menggunakan 100 bibit, dengan menggunakan jarak masing-masing bibit berjarak 4 x 2 m. Secara umum kegiatan ini dimulai dengan 1) pemaparan singkat mengenai kegiatan yang akan dilakukan, 2) memilih bibit yang layak untuk digunakan, 3) membentang jarak untuk bibit mangrove ditanam, 4) Pelepasan polybag bibit, 5) pembuatan lubang, 6) Penanaman bibit. Harapan kedepan, penanaman mangrove ini bisa menjadi cikal bakal mitigasi abrasi yang terjadi di Desa Peunaga.

Abstract

Communities in Pulau Banyak District on average work in the fisheries sector as fishers. Pulau Banyak fishers take advantage of the potential of captured fisheries as their main source of income. The living conditions of fishers are often classified as a marginal group close to poverty. This study aims to examine the socio-economic conditions of fishers in the Pulau Banyak District of Aceh Singkil. The method used is to conduct a field survey using a questionnaire (interview). The location of the research was in Pulau Banyak District, Aceh Singkil Regency. The results of the study show that the social conditions of the Pulau Banyak people work as fishers with a low level of education, at most equivalent to elementary school. The economic condition of the fishers on Pulau Banyak is seen based on their main income and also other income sourced from side income and the income of family members who help fishers. The main source of income for fishers is an average of IDR 1,000,000-1,500,000 per month with an average trip of 6 times a week or 24 times a month with catches of 8 types of fish. While the pattern of fish marketing, the average fishers as much as 64 percent choose to sell to bench shops. The government has an important role in monitoring the marketing pattern of fishery products and implementing policies for optimal and sustainable utilization of fishery resources.

Abstract

Damage to mangroves on the West Aceh coast due to the disaster tsunami and the increasing utilization of economic activities towards the beach area makes mangrove planting activities necessary. Service activities aim to support the benefits of conservation and expansion of mangrove ecosystems on the Coas of Peunaga Cut Ujong, Meurebo District, West Aceh Regency. This planting activity is a collaborative activity between industry players, academics, and the surrounding community which was initiated by PT MIFA Bersaudara as a form of concern for the environment and concrete action in contributing to coastal ecosystem conservation, especially for achieving the SDGs. The types of mangroves planted were Rhizophora apiculata and Rhizophora mucronate. This planting uses a planting method with artificial regeneration which involves planting seeds, propagules, or mangrove seedlings by moving the seedlings to a new location. Mangrove planting activities in Peunaga Cut Ujong managed to get attention and attention from the village community. Not only involved directly in mangrove planting activities but also committed to the maintenance and monitoring of the planted mangroves. In addition, the success of mangrove planting is also evident from the low mortality rate (5%) of the seedlings. The addition of more leaves, height, and mangrove roots that have begun to appear in some mangrove stands was observed seven months after planting.

Abstract

The nutritional content of fish is very high in protein and omega 3 fatty acids, but there is still little interest in eating fish among children. The government is trying to prevent stunting by launching the GEMARIKAN (Gemar Makan Ikan/Fond of eating fish) program to fulfill nutrition sourced from fish. Fish are generally less popular because their shape makes them uninteresting and boring, so interest in eating fish decreases. Housewives are encouraged to play a role in fulfilling children's nutrition through fish intake using various techniques, one of which is processing fish into a variety fish-based food. Alternative fish-based food is made to attract families to consume it by empowering groups of housewives and young women. This training aimed to educate about alternative fish-based food and recommend business opportunities to support additional family income. Training activities were carried out through mentoring and counseling for 20 housewives and young women from Gampong Blang Padang, by forming small groups and providing education regarding techniques for processing fish into dimsum products, fish sticks and fish nuggets. The results of the training showed that housewives and young women were able to make more varied fish preparations. Apart from that, participants received counseling about the benefits of fish for health, not only as an ingredient in making various types of processed fish food that have nutritional and economic value.

Community perspectives on the existence of mangrove ecosystems have an impact on mangrove management steps in the local area. The purpose of this study was to identify community perceptions of the existence of mangrove ecosystems around the Peunaga Cut Ujong Village community. This research uses survey methods and in-depth interviews using a questionnaire sheet as a guide. The technique of determining respondents through snowball sampling. Respondents totaled 35 people who were selected based on the area of residence of the youth hamlet of Peunaga Cut Ujong Village. Data analysis of this research used Likert scale. The results showed that community perceptions of the functions and benefits of mangrove ecosystems had the lowest score of 858, the form of management score 916, and the level of participation with a score of 1246. Overall, the perceptions and opinions of local communities about the existence of mangrove ecosystems are in the very good category, with a score of 127. This value shows that the existence of mangroves is very good in the view of the Peunaga Cut Ujong community. Community involvement in mangrove conservation efforts will actually have an impact on the success of sustainable management.

Abstract

Mangroves have a very strategic function for coastal communities ecologically, socially, and economically. Important information about Kuala Langsa mangrove forest management aims to educate coastal communities as the first users in utilizing environmental services in the form of mangrove tourism potential and managing coastal areas. Service activities are carried out to coastal communities living around the Kuala Langsa mangrove forest area. The activity involved 15 respondents consisting of Kuala Langsa mangrove forest ecotourism managers and coastal communities living around the area. The method carried out in this activity is surveys and interviews about management information and the potential of Kuala Langsa mangrove forests. The results of the activity showed that the community was very interested in participating in the activity marked by enthusiasm and warm discussion in the forum. People are more aware that no matter how small the damage done will have a big impact if done continuously. The community also agreed that waste can reduce beauty and reduce the population of fisheries and they agree that the healthier the mangroves can attract tourists and improve the economy of the surrounding community.
