Abstract

Abstract The aim of this research was to describe the use of audio-visual media to improve the students’ independence in learning arts  and cultures subject. This was a qualitative research which used descriptive method. The sources of the data were the teacher and the students. The result of the research showed that the use of audio-visual media made learning process become more effective and made the students felt happy, be serious and focused on the material being explained. These had raised the students’ independence in learning so that they were willing to perform dancing, playing musical instruments and performing a drama in front of the class. Abstract

Abstract   This research aimed at describing the learning of musical notations through drilling, in the Art and Culture subject at SMP Negeri I Kabupaten Padang Pariaman. The learning of musical notations was not fully enjoyed by the students. They assumed that this learning material was difficult to understand and not really important for them. In fact, this learning material improved their ability when they later had musical, vocal. and instrumental practices. The teacher then found some solutions to solve this problem: I) explaining the form and the value of notes to the students such as about the symbol and the duration of full notes, half notes, quarter notes, and eighth notes: 2) explaining and providing examples or beats to the students such as quarter beats or eighth heats: 3) explaining the relationship of time signature (in meters) and heats such as second, third. and fourth meter: 4) explaining the differences of low and up beats and providing examples on how to read the first, second, third, and fourth notes: 5) explaining, and providing examples of units or groups of note: 6) providing examples of' rhythm patterns from the song that was taught to the students as welI as providing examples of rhythm patterns for each phrase of the song.   Keywords: Learning, Musical Notations, the Drilling Method

Abstract

This researchwas aimed to analyzing the Fatwa Pujangga song by Said Effendi. The songwas analyed from its structures. The design of the research was qualotative using the content analysis approach. Data were obtain from library study, transcription, and laboratorial analysis.The research resultshow that the has 5 antecedent phrases and 1 consequent phrase. In addition, it consist of 3 minor melodies. The melodies and verses in thesong are dominantly syllabic. Howover, some if themare neumatic. In the term of its verses, the song is included in melogenic category. The songconsists of main chords such as chord I (tonic), chord II (supertonic), chord III (median), chordIV (subdominant), chord V (dominant), chord VI (submedian), and chord VII (the leading note). Finally, the song has three cadence,the perfect authentic cadence, the authentic half cadence, and deceptive cadence.It is found that the meaning of the found in the refers to the humble idol who appreciates his fans by writing this song as asymbol of gratitude toward them even though at moment, he is at the top of his popularity.Keyword : Analisis, Struktur lagu, lagu Fatwa Pujangga.

Abstract

AbstractThe research aimed at finding and describing the song of Lukah Gilo intrinsically and exrtrinsically at Kenagarian Gunuang Bungkuak Lumpo Kecamatan IV jurai Pesisir Selatan region from the musical feet. This research was qualitative using descriptive approach based on the theory dealing with rhythm, melody, and the structure of the song. The data were derived from the performance of Lukah Gilo in general, transcribed the song and then the data were analyzed. The research shows that the Lukah Gilo is performed occasionally. In the performance there are some poem (andai-andai or mantra) singing accompanied by Rabab Pasisia, Rabana and Tambourine. The song is like a poem consist of eleven stanza, each of the stanza has the motive up to 45, 16 phrases. The pitch which is uses are F, G, A, Bes dan C’ with F= Do. There are five internal: that is Prime Perfect (P1), Second Minor (m2),Second Mayor (M2), Tarts Mayor (M3) anda Kwart Perfect (P4 The structure of the poem Lukah Gilo consists of threeparts A, B dab B.Keywords: Study Of Musical Description, Lukah Gilo Art

Abstract

This article is aimed at analyzing the song Petang Lah Petang based on the song structure and melody composition. This is a qualitative research that uses the conten analysis approach. The theory used to analyze the song is the melodic structure, melodic composition and song structure theory. Data collection was done through recording, library research and laboratory work ( analysis process). The result of the analysis shows that the song Petang Lah Petang  belongs to the category of song which have two musical phrases of AB such as pharases a, a1 (antecedent) and b, b1, b2 (consequents). It was also found that the song has seven types of motives (m, n, o, m1, n1, o1,o2), the chords of the song consists of basic chord such as chords I, IV and V. it also as one type of cadence (perfect authentic cadence). The length of the phrases is different or also khown as contrasting phrase. The melodic formulation of the song consists of both disjunction and conjunction. Looking at the melodies and lyrics of the song, it can be concluded that Petang Lah Petang belongs to the group of songs called logogenic or songs whose lyrics dominate the melodies. In other words, this song is not perfect because it only emphasizes on the use of one type of form or also khow as syllabic song. Having analyzed the lyrics of this song and their link with the direction of melody, it is found that the song is a reflection of the tradition of ‘take and give’ – from the community, to the community. Some of the lyrics of the song contain orders and good advice (a reflection of life in the Lahat community) to be passed down to the next generation in the community.

Abstract

The purpose of music Researchis to know about study recorder in SMPN 3 X Koto Singkarak, this type of research is qualitative research, that have done 9  times. The subjects of this research are class VIII A is pre-eminent class. From this research can conclude that study recorder is still not implemented yet. The teacher also not adabt the students ability with assign that has been given by the teacher, we can see from student mark on class VIII A are really unsatisfied. Abstract

Abstract This research aimed at decribing the non harmonic tones found in 3 children songs composed by A.T. Mahmud. The song were “Bintang Kejora”, Pelangi”, and “Amelia”. The non harmonic tones were were analyzed based on the progression of three main chord (I, IV and V) in the background of the melody. According to Ottman (1961:127),non-harmonic tones may be identified and classified by relationship of dissonance (the non-harmonic tone)to the harmonic tones which precade and follow it. Based on the content analysis approach used in this research, it was found that 19 non harmonic tones (35%) in the song of “Bintang Kejora”, 8 non harmonic tones (17%) in the song of “Pelangi”, and 12 non harmonic tones (22%) in the song of “Amelia”. It was concluded that the amount of non harmonic tones within this 3 song were lower than 30%. As a result, the melody of these songs was dominated by leaping movements which was still included as fair interval for children. Keywords: children songs, A.T. Mahmud,the non harmonic tones

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the approach of Reference Assessment Standard (PAP) and the Assessment Reference Norma (PAN) in the musical subjects in Class VII-C 4 SMP Negeri Padang. Research object-C Class VII students numbering 34 people, in which the current study, the researchers also conducted Field Teaching and assisting teachers in teaching the civil-semester school year 2011/2012. The research instrument used is the researchers themselves, research resource and archive Daily Exam grade students at UH) 1 and 2, Mid Semester Exam (UTS) and End Semester Examination (UAS). The results clarify that the use of PAP on the subjects of art music either to determine the quality of the individual student in mastering the art of learning music. However, to determine the final value is collected from all forms of the test, the teacher should use the PAN approach. With PAN, students who have different learning potential in music, nothing is likely to fail, and student learning outcomes in the form of the normal curve. Abstract

This article to describe Randai using methods Cooperative learning in class X IPS 3 SMA Negeri 1 Batusangkar. Randai learning is one of the lessons in the school of art and culture that can be used by various methods, one of which with methods Cooperative.This type of research is qualitative descriptive method. The object of this research is the students of class X IPS 3 SMA Negeri 1 Batusangkar conducting Randai learning to study for 4 meetings. The research instrument is the researchers themselves assisted by other supporting facilities such as a camera. Based on the results of this research is that learning Cooperative Randai method in class X IPS 3 SMA Negeri 1 Batusangkar can increase students' activity during the learning process, then can improve student learning outcomes it is seen from the prior use of cooperative methods only 14 or 42.42% of students which reached a value above KKM after using the methods of cooperative learning outcomes of students increased to 27 or 81.81% of the students scored above the KKM as well as with the appearance or performance randai students. The impact of the application of cooperative methods to the students is that students are more motivated, responsive, and a pleasure to follow the lessons.

Abstract

Abstract   This research was aimed at describing the implementation of drill method in increasing the students’ abilities to read and play the rhythm. This research was a qualitative one. The results of the research have explained some rhythm drills as follows: (1) drill of the basic tempo, (2) the form of foot and hands gestures and rhythmic syllables, (3) how to read rhythm patterns using gestures, and (4) train students to read the songs partiture with the appropriate rhythm.  It has been proven that drill method can increase the students’ ability to read the rhythm and the notation appropriately, especially for the students of VIIIB at SMPN 1 Bukittinggi.
