Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the competence of communication science students on their choice of concentration in the physical communication science study program at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra. The research method used in this study is a descriptive and associative research method with a survey approach. This study uses a questionnaire as a tool to collect primary data. The population as well as the sample in this study were students of the Communication Studies Program at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra. The statistical analysis used in this research is multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS version 20. The results of this study indicate that the competency variables simultaneously (together) and partially (alone) have no positive and significant effect on the decision to choose a concentration in the Communication Studies Study Program. This is evidenced by the results of the T test with a significance level above 0.05 and the results of the F test with a significance level above 0.05, as well as the results of the coefficient of determination test, which shows that the influence of competence on the decision to choose a concentration in the Communication Sciences Study Program at the State University of North Sumatra is only 64% and the rest is influenced by other variables at 46%. That means that the hypothesis in this study was rejected.

Abstract

This research purpose to know the Virtual Communication Patterns of the game Mobile Legends in the University of Communication Studies of UINSU. The research uses descriptive qualitative research methods with a virtual ethnographic approach. Data collection using interviews to 5 sources and library studies. The results of the research showed that the virtual communication pattern of the Mobile Legends game uses Whatssapp media and game conversation media to invite UINSU Communication Sciences students to play, discuss, and give commands and instructions while the game is taking place using Mobile Legend conversation media using everyday, gaul and informal language as well as using stickers or emoticons available on both media. But few use direct or face-to-face communication. Reactions or feedback obtained such as expressing anger when losing in a game and using words unpolite, happy or happy at the time of winning the game, each player can give instructions and orders at the moment of the game subsug so that they follow the instructions in order to win the game. The communication pattern they use is a network of all channels, because anyone can communicate with others in the game.

Abstract

Decision making is a definite step taken in looking for something solutions to problems that occur. In the family the decisions are usually taken over by men. However, at this time the decision was not only for men, but also for women also participate in decision making in the family. Research has a purpose to analyze gender representation in family decision making. This research uses a case study in Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra. Method the research used is a qualitative method. Collection of data sources is done using interview techniques directly to 10 respondents. Research result raises new conclusions where the female gender does not have a deep gap take decisions or policies in the family that are carried out jointly between husband and wife on domestic roles and public roles in society. In this case women share in the problems that exist in the family. With each other support and cooperation between husband and wife. So there is no difference between female and male.

Abstract

This study focuses on the persuasive communication of the Perlave village government of South Labuhan Batu district, which is committed to early marriage in the local community. The research method used was a qualitative survey, collecting data through interviews with village officials and informants from the community who experienced early marriage. As a result, it was found that the main causes of early marriage in Perlavian villages were promiscuity and personal will. In addition, the Perrabian village government has implemented persuasive communication to overcome early marriage by raising awareness about the dangers of early marriage. These efforts were made to raise public awareness of the ill effects of early marriage and to encourage smarter decisions about marriage. This study provides an overview of the persuasive communication strategies used by the village government to combat early marriage in Perlav village. The results of this study are expected to provide a basis for village governments and related agencies to develop programs to more effectively address early marriage issues in the region.
