Abstract

The development of tourist villages, especially cultural tourism, is currently being intensified by the government through the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf). Cultural tourism in Bali cannot be separated from the philosophy of Hinduism, one of which is Tri Hita Karana. Through the ornamental plant farmer group Guna Sari, the people of Petiga Village have developed plant agropolitan tourism based on tri hita karana, but it has not been managed optimally due to several obstacles. Among them are the unavailability of local tour guides and the weak ability of information technology in managing village webs for online promotion. Through training and mentoring, members of the Guna Sari ornamental plant farmer group were given English language training as a local tour guide, as well as computer training. The result is that members of the Guna Sari farmer group have mastered English for tourism and operate computers, which can be seen from the increase in evaluation results by 33.17% and 31.5%.

This village has several potentials as sources of attractions for tourists. These potentials include beautiful natural scenery, cool air, residential traditional housing, friendly people, and characteristics of rural tourism in the form of "trails" along village roads. The existing potential has not been managed optimally due to several obstacles, such as: 1) the English language skills of local tour guides are still low, especially the mastery of English vocabulary and 2) the management of homestays is not optimal, because most of the tourist activities are served by travel agents. This problem was overcome through 16-hour English short course activities, 8-hour guided mentoring, and comparative studies. As a result, the implementation of the English short course received positive responses from the participants, the village head, the manager of the Pinge Tourism Village, and the head of the Pokdarwis Pinge Asri. Statistically, there was an increase in participants' English proficiency by 22.14%. Mentoring and comparative studies on homestay management also received positive responses, even the homestay managers want this activity to be carried out continuously.

Abstract

Petiga Village is known as the center of ornamental plants in Bali Province. However, ornamental plant farmers in this village face various obstacles, one of which is production and marketing. The Government of Tabanan Regency in collaboration with the International Institute of Tourism and Business (IPB) implements a regional development science and technology application program (PIPK) in overcoming the problems. This PIPK activity involves four partner groups, namely: the Guna Sari ornamental plant farmer group, the Mekar Sari KWT institution, the Guna Sari savings and loan cooperative, and the Sekar Pasti Wangi simantri. Through persuasive and educative methods, the PIPK program seeks to overcome the problems of farmers by carrying out activities in the form of: 1) procurement of greenhouses for structuring production stock, 2) procurement of production equipment, 3) training and assistance in cash flow and finance, 4) seminars and assistance in plant and vegetable cultivation and marketing, and 5) manufacture of bio urine installations. The results of interviews showed that the people of Petiga Village, especially the four partner groups gave a positive appreciation for all activities. There is an increase in knowledge related to production and marketing processes for ornamental plant farmers. If calculated from the income of farmers, this PIPK activity was able to increase the income of the partner group by an average of 20%.

Abstract

One of the centers for ornamental plants in Bali is located in Petiga Village. However, the marketing of ornamental plants in Petiga Village has not yet embraced digital methods, limiting its reach primarily to the local market. The objective of this community service project is to introduce and train groups of women farmers in utilizing e-commerce to expand the marketing of ornamental plants. This community service activity comprises three main stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results obtained reveal that the women farmers' group has gained knowledge about marketing ornamental plants through e-commerce. Based on this, it can be concluded that the socialization and training on marketing ornamental plants through e-commerce have provided farmer groups with a better understanding of using digital media. As a next step, farmers still require additional skills in using social media platforms as digital marketing tools, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and others.
