Abstract

The field and laboratory experiment were conducted to know the effects of fertilization and legumes introduction on the quality natural forages at Kebar Valley, regency of Manokwari. The experiment was designed in a Completely Radomized Design with six treatments and three replications. The results showed that fertilizing and adding legumes had significant effects (p<0.01) on increases of forage species, forage nutrients component (dry matter, organic matter, crude protein), forage production ( fresh and dried), in vitro digestibility (dry matter, organic matter, crude protein) and increasing total digestible nutrient (TDN) and metabolism energy (ME). It is concluded that fertilizing and adding legumes have potential positive effect on improvement of natural forages at Kebar valley, Manokwari regency.

Abstract

Abstract The cuticle is the outermost layer of the egg which deposited on to the surface of the egg during the final 1-1.5 hours prior to oviposition. It is a protective coating which prevents bacterial penetration through the gas exchange pores in the eggshell. The aim of this research is analysing the cuticle cover and ultrastructural features of the mammillary layer cover during production cycle in the free-range system. Data were collected from age 26, 37, 50 and 60 weeks of age to observe the eggshell colour (%), cuticle cover following the MST blue dye which analysed by spectrophotometry based on L*a*b system and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Data were analysed using Statview Software (SAS Institute Inc., Version 5.0.1.0). A two way analysis of variance was conducted taking flock age and shed/flock as the independent variables and body weight, egg quality measurements, spectrophotometry (L*a*b) measurements, single score measurements for cuticle cover, and ultrastructural features as dependent variables. Level of significance was indicated by probability of less than 5%. The Fishers PLSD test was used to differentiate between mean values. The result of this research showed that the cuticle cover is vary from age to age. The greater value of cuticle cover in at 37 weeks of age which the same result also showed by single scrore and SEM. The cuticle cover of the shell is mostly affected by age and also strain. Keyword: Cuticle; Eggshell quality; Laying hens. Abstrak Kutikula pada telur merupakan lapisan terluar telur yang dideposisikan pada lapisan palisade kurang lebih 1,5 – 2 jam di akhir pembentukan kerabang di dalam uterus. Kutikula berfungsi sebagai benteng pertahanan pertama untuk mencegah masuknya bakteri ke dalam telur. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada usaha peternakan ayam petelur yang dipelihara dengan system free range. Telur diambil untuk dianalisa penyebaran kutikula telur pada umur 26, 37, 50, dan 60 minggu. Variable yang diamati meliputi reflektifitas warna kerabang (%), penyebaran kutikula diukur menggunakan MST blue dye dan selanjutnya diukur melalui sistim spectrophotometry, yang difokuskan pada sistim pewarnaan berdasarkan sistim L*a*b* dan single score, dan dilanjutkan dengan pengamatan menggunakan scanning electron microscopy (SEM).Selanjutnya data dianalisis menggunakan Staview software (SAS Institute Inc. version 5.0.1.0) dengan analisis anova dua arah, dimana umur ayam sebagai variable independent dan nilai SCI a* sesudah perendaman dan nilai single score (ΔE*ab) sebagai variable dependent, pada level of significance 5%. Pengaruh yang nyata diuji lanjut menggunakan Fisher PLSD. Pada penelitian ini didapatkan bahwa penyebaran kutikula pada kerabang telur bervariasi selama pengamatan. Penyebaran kutikula terbanyak ditemukan pada saat ayam berumur 37 minggu. Hal ini juga diperkuat dengan hasil yang diperoleh dengan single score (ΔE*ab) yang memperlihatkan nilai ΔE*ab yang tinggi pada umur 37 minggu. Penyebaran kutikula pada kerabang telur sangat dipengaruhi oleh umur dan juga strain ayam. Kata kunci: Ayam petelur; Kualitas telur; Kutikula.

Abstract

ABSTRACT  The aim of slaughtering of sacrificial animals on Eid al-Adha worship in Manokwary Regency is to provide a good quality of meat before distribution and as follows as health protocols for COVID-19 .  The slaughtering was done in 2 locations in Manokwari Regency.  The observation methode was for antemortem examination (one day) before slauthering to observe the general conditions of animal and postmortem examination to evaluate the carcasses are eatable. Data was analyse as descriptive and presented in table and pictures. 22 catles were slautered under health protocols for Covid-19. Generally, the results of antemortem examination indicated that all catles were suitable and in good condition for slaughter. For postmortem showed 4 livers(18%) were infected by worms with one liver had to be removed due to highly fasciolosis. Other organs and carcass showed in good performace and eatable. All process during this activity, from slauter to distribution was going under the health protocols for Covid-19, and were hygene to fullfill the ASUH meat (safe,healthy, compact and Halal, and the gathering procedure has followed the health protocols during pandemic COVID-19.  Keywords: Eid Al-Adha; Sacrifiying animals; slautering   ABSTRAK  Pemeriksaan hewan kurban di Kabupaten Manokwari bertujuan untuk memastikan daging kurban yang didistribusikan ke masyarakat merupakan daging yang aman, sehat, utuh dan halal (ASUH), serta mengikuti dengan protocol kesehatan yang telah ditetapkan dimasa Pandemic Covid 19. Penyembelihan dilakukan di 2 lokasi, di Kabupaten Manokwari. Metode pemeriksaan dilakukan secara langsung dengan melakukan pemeriksaan secara antemortem dan postmortem. Selanjutnya data di analisis secara deskriptif dan disajikan dalam betuk table dan gambar. Sebanyak 22 ekor sapi yang disembelih, dimana proses dilakukan dengan menerapkan protokol kesehatan dalam  Situasi Wabah  Bencana  Non  Alam  Corona  Virus Disease  (COVID-19) sesuai arahan pemerintah. Pemeriksaan antemortem memperlihatkan bahwa ke 22 ekor sapi yang dikurbankan layak dan dalam kondisi yang baik untuk disembelih. Sedangkan pada pemeriksaan postmortem ditemukan 4 organ hati yang terinfeksi cacing, dimana satu organ hati harus dimusnahkan karena terinfeksi parah fasciolosis. Organ lain dan daging berada dalam kondisi baik dan layak konsumsi. Pelaksanaan penyembelihan hewan kurban di Kabupaten Manokwari telah memenuhi aspek higienis dan sanitasi agar diperoleh daging kurban yang ASUH, dan prosedur pemotongan telah mengikuti protocol kesehatan selama masa pandemic COVID-19. Abstract

The study aimed to descriptively capture livestock production and food waste and the suitability of border farms in the lowland Merauke region. Data were analyzed on livestock population structure (individual/ST), food crop waste production (dry weight, DW), capacity, and location quotient (LQ), and SWOT. Food crop waste production is 350 thousand tons of DW and so far only provided for ruminant cattle about 11%. Food crop straw waste is still dominated by rice straw (97%), followed by corn waste (2%), sweet potatoes, and peanuts. The capacity to increase the cattle population is close to 315 thousand ST. The LQ value of both livestock and food crops in Merauke is still in the range of 0 -<1 and is still a prospective sector to be optimized. The results of SWOT analysis conclude that the S-O strategy is the intensification and expansion of livestock commodities. Abstract

ABSTRACT  This activity aims to determine the health status of the sacrificial animals in the Manokwari City Region with the status of a green zone for the FMD outbreak based on antemortem and postmortem examinations. The activity was carried out on 93 Bali Cattle which were divided into 6 mosques in Manokwari Regency. The examination consists of antemortem and postmortem examination by inspection, palpation and incision. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively and presented in percentages and figures. In 2021-2022, there will be no cattle traffic entering the West Papua Region. The percentage of BCS of sacrificial animals slaughtered this year is as follows: #2: 8.82%; #3: 11.76%; #4: 64.71; #5: 14.71%. Body temperature: 36.10oC – 37.50oC. The locomotion, facial expressions, respiration, eye mucosa and anus condition as well as muzzle and mouth conditions, hoof conditions and body surfaces in all the sacrificial animals did not change. Carcasses and organs did not change or were normal, except for the liver (32.53% had fasciolosis) and the rumen (35.09% had paramphistomosis) and there were no symptoms of FMD. Conclusion: all sacrificial animals deserve to be slaughtered and their meat consumed, except for some of the liver and rumen and not infected with FMD.  Keywords: Fasciolosis; Manokwari; Paramphistomosis; PMK; Sacrificial   ABSTRAK  Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui status kesehatan hewan kurban di Wilayah Kota Manokwari yang berstatus zona hijau wabah PMK berdasarkan pemeriksaan antemortem dan postmortem. Kegiatan dilakukan pada 93 ekor Sapi Bali yang terbagi di 6 masjid di Kabupaten Manokwari. Pemeriksaan terdiri atas pemeriksaan antemortem dan postmortem dengan cara inspeksi, palpasi dan sayatan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif dan disajikan dalam persen dan gambar. Pada tahun 2021-2022, tidak ada lalu lintas ternak sapi masuk ke Wilayah Papua Barat. Persentase BCS hewan kurban yang disembelih pada tahun ini adalah sebagai berikut: #2: 8,82%; #3: 11,76%; #4: 64,71; #5: 14,71%. Suhu tubuh: 36,10oC – 37,50 oC. Alat gerak, ekspresi muka, pernafasan, mukosa mata dan keadaan anus serta kondisi moncong dan mulut, kondisi tracak dan permukaan tubuh pada semua hewan kurban tidak terdapat perubahan. Karkas dan organ-organ tidak mengalami perubahan atau normal, kecuali pada organ hati (32,53% mengalami fasciolosis) dan rumen (35,09% mengalami paramphistomosis) serta tidak terdapat gejala PMK. Kesimpulan: seluruh hewan kurban layak dipotong dan dikonsumsi dagingnya, kecuali sebagian hati dan rumen serta tidak terjangkit PMK. Kata kunci: Fasciolosis; Kurban; Manokwari; Paramphistomosis; PMK

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aspek kesejahteraan hewan berdasarkan tata cara pemisahan dan handling sapi ketika akan disembelih, berapa lama waktu maksimal sapi Bali yang disembelih mati sempurna dan indikator kematian apa yang paling lama hilang setelah sapi disembelih. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 57 ekor sapi Bali yang disembelih di 5 masjid di Kabupaten Manokwari yang menyelenggarakan penyembelihan hewan kurban. Pengamatan tata cara pemisahan dan handling sapi dilakukan dengan observasi. Waktu henti darah memancar dihitung sejak awal darah memancar sampai tidak lagi memancar. Indikator kematian lain (refleks pupil, refleks kornea, pernafasan ritmik, tonus rahang, tonus lidah, refleks ekor, refleks anus, dan refleks tracak) dihitung setelah waktu henti darah memancar diperoleh. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif. Data henti darah memancar dihitung rerata dan simpangan bakunya, sedangkan indikator lain disajikan dengan range tiap menit dalam tabel. Pemisahan antara lokasi penempatan dengan penyembelihan dan penggunaan kandang jepit modifikasi untuk handling telah dilakukan disebagian besar lokasi pengamatan. Waktu henti darah memancar pada penelitian ini adalah 2,93 menit. Refleks kornea dan tonus lidah merupakan indikator tercepat yang hilang, yaitu 4-5 menit setelah darah berhenti memancar, kemudian berturut-turut diikuti dengan pernafasan ritmik dan tonus rahang, yaitu masing-masing 5-6 menit serta refleks ekor dan refleks tracak, yaitu 6-7 menit. Refleks anus merupakan indikator terlama yang hilang, yaitu 7-8 menit setelah darah berhenti memancar. Kesimpulan: sebagain besar masjid telah memperhatikan kesejahteraan hewan berdasarkan lokasi dan tata cara penyembelihan. Sapi Bali sebagai hewan kurban di Kabupaten Manokwari mengalami mati sempurna pada menit ke 13,93 dan indikator kematian terakhir yang hilang adalah refleks anus.

Abstract

Broiler farming in Malang Regency, East Java, Indonesia, has experienced rapid growth, significantly contributing to the regional economy. In this region, the open cage system is among the broiler cage systems that are commonly used. Therefore, this study aims to analyze 1) factors affecting growth, 2) factors causing technical inefficiency, and 3) technical, allocative, and economic efficiency. The results showed that factors such as day-old chicks (DOC), feed, and drugs positively affected broilers' development. However, there was a variation in the level of technical efficiency of 0.047 due to inefficient sources, which included the age of breeders, education level, work experience, number of family members, and employment status. Despite the variation in efficiency levels, the average breeder demonstrated high technical, allocative, and economic efficiency with values of 0.93, 0.99, and 0.92, respectively. This performance indicated that the average breeders had yet to reach peak efficiency but were categorized as high-efficiency. To further enhance productivity, broiler farming required additional DOC feed and adequate training for broiler breeders to maximize productivity and resource utilization. Based on these results, recommendations were made to provide loans to broiler farms with simple terms and conditions, specifically for purchasing DOC, feed, labor, medicines, and fuel.
