Abstract

An essential part of learning transformation geometry is rotation. Before learning more about other parts of the transformation geometry topic, such as translation, dilation, and reflection, firstly, students are required to understand well about rotation. However, several students have not been able to understand this subject properly due to the stages of learning in the rotation has not been appropriately arranged. Thus, this study aims to design a student learning trajectory in learning rotation, which develop from informal to formal level through the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (IRME) approach. Furthermore, researchers used a design research method divided into three stages, namely preliminary design, design experiments, and retrospective analysis. This study describes how the bamboo woven motif contributes significantly to 31 ninth-grade students understanding the rotation concept. As a result, the woven bamboo motif's context can stimulate students' understanding of rotation. It is proven based on the strategies and models of students during their learning process which contributes to their fundamental knowledge of rotation.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: underreported, generalized poisson, negative binomial  AbstractThe goal of study is to compare the parameters of the negative Binomial regression model and the Poisson Model for underreported counts in the previous study. A model is a regression model for the number of product sales that run ito underreporting counts, caused by a delay on input process to the product sales applications (called sales cycle). The model used in the previous study is a mixture of the poisson and the binomial distributions developed by Winkelmann (1996). The regression parameters are estimated by a Bayesian approach and Markov Chain Monte Carlo simulation using Gibbs sampling algorithm. The results show the difference between the actual number and the reported number. This difference is the number of unreported product sales. In this study, the model used is the negative binomial regression model. The regression parameters are estimated using Newton Rapson iteration method. The results show a big gap from the previous study. It means that the Poisson Model for underreported counts is more robust in accordance with the seasonal components. Keywords: underreported, generalized poisson, negative binomial

Abstract

The 2013 curriculum requires students to master the cognitive domains from analysis to evaluation. The fact is not all students have the same cognitive development. Junior high school students, it turns out that students who think concretely, must see in real terms, so the learning approach used in this study has to lead students to be active in learning. One of active learning approach is the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). This study is an experimental research. The goals of this study are: 1. Is the mathematical problem-solving abilities of students who used the RME approach better than students who used the scientific approac? 2. Determine whether there is an interaction between the learning approach and the mathematical initial ability (high, medium, low) on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The results showed: 1. The mathematical problem-solving abilities of students who used the RME approach was better than students who used the scientific approach; 2. There is no interaction between the learning approach and mathematical initial abilities (high, medium, low) on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

This study was focused onanalyzing student’s mathematical reasoning abilities in solving Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) problems anddetermining the level of student understanding of HOTS questions. The researchmethod is qualitative descriptive with 12 subjects. Based on the results of the test, the subject’s reasoning abilities were grouped into 3 categories of reasoning abilities, namely high, moderate and low. The results showed that students who had high reasoning abilities were able to fulfill the 7 mathematical reasoning indicators very well at each stage of real analysis problem solving and were able to work on HOTS levelquestions to analyze and create. Students with moderate reasoning abilities were only able to fulfill several indicators of mathematical reasoning, namely presenting written statements, solving problems as planned and checking again. Students who had low reasoning abilities were not able to understand the questions well, so students cannot solve it. Based on the results of the questionnaire, it was concluded that 46.67% of students could understand the HOTS problem well, 33% of the students could not plan the solution, namely writingdown the information that was known in answering the questions, and 33% of the students were not able to check the validity of an argument and draw conclusions on the evidence. Furthermore, it was obtained the relationship between student’s mathematical reasoning abilities and the level of student understanding of HOTS-oriented questions which fulfilled the linear regression equation Y = 71.574 + 0.009X.This model showed that the level of student understanding of HOTS-oriented questions had a positive effect on learning outcomes. Based on the research results, it was suggested that lecturers provide more training related toproof with the aim of improving students' mathematical reasoning abilities.
