Abstract

The purpose of this research are to: (1) produce a  Physics Calculator application for Junior High School (SMP) based on Adobe Flash with study of material of Electromagnetic Induction and (2) to know the feasibility of the Physics Calculator application. This application has a model of physics formula based on basic competence, with animation on each material and exerciseand the model referring to the UN CBT standard. Besides, the completion output on this application provides the solution. The research and development method used refers to the concept of ADDIE. Menus and features of the application have been adjusted to the design, so it can work well on Windows Operating System. The feasibility test of Physics Calculator application is carried out by distributing the assessment sheets to the media experts and to 9th grade students at SMPN 251 Jakarta and SMPN 203 Jakarta, with the result of 88.63%, 93.83%, and 93.38% respectively. The average validation percentage is 91.94%.So, it can be concluded that this physics calculator app is categorized valid. This application is expected to optimize the 9th grade students’ understanding of subject materials through animated media based on Adobe Flash Pro CS6.

Abstract

This research is a development research that aims to develop and assess the quality of mathematical teaching materials based on fable books character in a rectangular material that is valid, meets classical completeness, and good student response The type of research used is Research & Development (R & D) research with reference to the Borg & Gall model. The experimental subjects in this study were seventh grade students of MTs Al-huda, Mubung Village, Hulu Gurung Subdistrict, Kapuas Hulu District with a total of 17 students. Based on the results of a limited trial conducted, it was found that (1) the results of character fable book validation obtained the average score of 85,42% with a very valid category so there was no need to revise and experts stated that the developed fable character was feasible to be used and can be tested in the field, (2) the results of testing the use of products through student learning outcomes tests obtained classical completeness were 76,47% so as to achieve classical completeness where the completeness of classical completeness set at MTs Al-huda Mubung Village is 70%, and (3) student responses to Mathematical teaching materials based on fable books with character with an average score of 87,54% with a very good category

Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate students’ learning difficulties in mathematical economics in 2015/2016 academic year. This research is a descriptive qualitative research, the subjects of which are 3 students taking mathematical economics with low, average and high ability category. They are selected based on the recommendation from a mathematical economics lecturer. Data are collected using documentation and direct communication techniques, with data collection tools in the form of documentation of questions and results of Midterm (UTS) and Final Examinations (UAS) in mathematical economics and of interview guides. After collecting the data, the researchers analyze the results of the Examinations and of interview to investigate the students’ learning results to identify their learning difficulties in mathematical economics. The result of the research shows that students with high ability category (M1) do not have learning difficulties in learning mathematical economics; students with average ability category (M2) lack understanding of the exponent if the cardinal numbers are in fraction forms; students with low ability category (M3) do not have understanding of the concept of profit and loss, especially the one related to income and expenses, of the concept of the exponent so that they are wrong when determining the final results and of the meaning of the questions, especially if there is.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the effect of habits of mind on mathmematics concept mastery. The method used is survey method. The population of this research is Junior High School students in Depok. 3 school samples are selected to represent all students in Depok with total respondents of 92 students.  The instrument used is the instrument of mathematical concept mastery consisting of 20 questions and Habits of Mind questionnaire. The result of the research indicates there is significant effect of habits of mind on mathematics concept mastery. The contribution of habits of mind to mathematics concept mastery is 27.67 %. This research can be recommended to improve the mathematics concepts mastery of Junior High School students by improving the habits of mind to students.

Abstract

The researcher’s observation of the condition of SMKN (State Vocational High School) teachers in South Jakarta and interview with the deputy headmaster overseeing curriculum and student affairs show a gap between the expectation and the reality of the teacher's affective commitment. Based on empirical data obtained from preliminary interviews in March 2018 in several SMKNs in South Jakarta, it is seen that the teacher’s affective commitment to teach is still low. This research aims to know the effects of (1) Job Satisfaction, (2) Work Motivation, (3) Affective Commitment of SMKN teachers in South Jakarta. The method used is a survey research method with a quantitative-causal approach using path analysis. The survey is conducted from June to July 2018 by involving samples of 164 teachers randomly taken in South Jakarta. The findings in the research show: First, there is a direct effect of job satisfaction on affective commitment. Second, there is a direct effect of work motivation on affective commitment. Third, there is a direct effect of job satisfaction on work motivation.

Abstract

Novel Laskar Pelangi karya Andrea Hirata diterbitkan oleh Bentang pada tahun 2005 dan meraih kesuksesan besar. Isi dari novel tersebut mewakili masyarakat Indonesia yang sebagian besar masih berada di bawah garis kemiskinan dengan kondisi pendidikan yang memprihatinkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menggali lebih dalam apakah novel Laskar Pelangi mewakili fungsi media sebagai sarana informasi, pendidikan, hiburan, serta persuasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis wacana pragmatik dengan menggunakan gabungan antara ilmu bahasa serta ilmu komunikasi. Inti dari pragmatik adalah melihat wacana dari hubungan antara kalimat dan konteksnya serta situasi pendukung. Hasil dari penelitian tersebut menunjukkan bahwa tema yang terdapat dalam novel Laskar Pelangi ditinjau dari fungsi media adalah kondisi pendidikan di Pulau Belitung yang mewakili keadaan pendidikan di Indonesia yang memprihatinkan karena terhimpit oleh kemiskinan. Pesan yang ingin disampaikan ialah bahwa masyarakat Indonesia diharapkan tetap memiliki tekad yang kuat untuk keluar dari kemiskinan dan meraih pendidikan yang lebih baik.

Abstract

A smart and intelligent generation is needed to develop a Nation and State. One of important factors to create this generation is education. However, there are still many students with great skill and potential who can not continue their study at school because they are financially disadvantaged. Fortunately, there are also many of them who earn scholarship. Yapimda has donation both from the government in the form of BOS (School Operational Aid) and from other parties. Yet, there is no exact measurement to determine the eligibility of students to be awarded scholarship. In education environment, especially at school, there must be some regulations or classifications in determining students to be given scholarship. Therefore, this research conducts an algorithm comparison between Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) to be applied to the data of students receiving scholarship. The purpose of the research is to measure the accuracy level of 2 algorithms compared in selecting potential recipients of scholarship in SMK YAPIMDA Jakarta. The test result by measuring the performance of the two algorithms using a Cross Validation test method, Confusion Matrix and ROC Curve, shows that algorithm of Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) has the highest accuracy of 85.82%, while algorithm of Support Vector Machine (SVM) has the lowest accuracy of 83.98 %.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of numerical intelligence and self-concept on mathematics achievement motivation. The method used in this research is a survey method. The research sample is selected through Multi Stage Random Sampling totaling 94 students in grade IX of private Junior High School (SMP) in Tebet subdistrict, South Jakarta. Data analysis is made by using multiple regression statistics. The results of the research are: (1) There is a directly significant effect of student's numerical intelligence on mathematics achievement motivation. (2) There is a directly significant effect on student's self-concept on mathematics achievement motivation. (3) There is a jointly significant effect of student’s numerical intelligence and student’s self-concept on mathematics achievement motivation.

Abstract

Tahap pembelajaran secara garis besar dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok, yaitu: tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan dan tahap evaluasi. Pada studi ilmiah ini tahapan yang akan dikaji oleh peneliti akan dibatasi hanya pada tahap evaluasi. Adapun permasalahan yang akan dikaji adalah efektivitas sistem penilaian terhadap kemudahan dan kenyamanan pada evaluasi hasil belajar peserta didik. Hipotesa atau dugaan awal dari peneliti bahwa sistem penilaian dengan Computer Assist Test (CAT) efektif dalam memberikan kemudahan dan kenyamanan dalam melakukan evaluasi kompetensi peserta didik. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dan pembahasan yang disesuaikan dengan teori yang relevan dapat diambil beberapa kesimpulan, di antaranya: 1. Sistem penilaian dengan Computer Assist Test (CAT) memiliki korelasi yang kuat terhadap kemudahan dalam melakukan evaluasi kompetensi peserta didik; 2. Sistem penilaian yang baik maka akan meningkatkan kemudahan dalam melakukan evaluasi kompetensi peserta didik; 3. Sistem penilaian yang baik yang baik maka akan meningkatkan kenyamanan dalam melakukan evaluasi kompetensi peserta didik; 4. Terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara sistem penilaian dengan CAT terhadap kemudahan dalam melakukan evaluasi kompetensi peserta didik. 5. Terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara sistem penilaian dengan CAT terhadap kenyamanan dalam melakukan evaluasi kompetensi peserta didik.

Abstract

Students’ habitof using electronic devices for games and social media can reduce the education quality, as seen in the less satisfactory results of Junior High School National Examination. To improve this result, it is necessary to give students more exercises while considering their habit of using electronic devices. This research aims to develop an android-based educational medium for practicing doing National Examination questions for Junior High School Studentsand to determine its eligibility based on validation and evaluation by subject experts, media experts and practitioners of mathematics learning. The type of the research is research and development performed based on the development model ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation),but only conducted until the fourth stage (implementation). Media validation is conducted by subject experts, media experts and practitioners of mathematics learning in MTs (Madrasah Tsanawiyah). Data are collected by distributing a questionnaire and then analyzed descriptively, qualitatively and quantitatively. The result show sthe android-based medium “Siap UN SMP” is very suitable to use as a medium for practicing doing questions of National Examination at Junior High School Level.
