Abstract

Lecturers must know and understand the characteristics and learning styles of their students so that their interactions can take place well in the learning and teaching process. However, in reality in the field most of the Lecturers are Educational Study Programs Physical Health and Recreation (PJKR) does not yet know and understand student learning styles optimally. Therefore this study aims to determine the tendency of PJKR student learning styles at IKIP Budi Utomo Malang. This research is a qualitative descriptive study.The instruments of this study were student learning style questionnaires, interview guidelines for lecturers and interview guidelines for students. The results showed that the most dominant PJKR student learning style was the visual learning style with a total of 98 students (63.23%). The next dominant student learning style is the kinesthetic learning style with a total of 23 students (14.84%).The conclusion of this study is that most PJKR students have a visual learning style and some others have kinesthetic learning styles.

Abstract

Generally, a course is taught by one lecturer during one semester. However, one of the institutions in Malang implemented a team teaching model in almost all courses either English or Non-English course. The courses with two and three credits are strongly advised to implement the team teaching model. In this institution, team teaching model is one subject taught by two lecturers; one lecturer for seven meetings before the middle test, and another different lecturer for seven meetings after the middle test. In other words, students will meet two lecturers for one course in one semester in turn. Hence, in this study, the researcher aims to elaborate the concept of team teaching model implemented in this institution. Then, it compared to the real concept of team teaching implementation from other discussions. As a result, there was a bit misconception in the implementation of team teaching concept in this institution. Overall, this study hopefully contributes the insight of team teaching concept for this institution that could be implemented to all courses properly later on

Abstract

This article is an investigation into the effectiveness of hybrid learning module on basic structure in students university in Ikip Budi Utomo . This concepts related to hybrid learning and conventional classroom. There were 90 students who participated in this research . The study revealed that students prefer hybrid learning on basic structure to conventional classroom, paper and pencil . As the first, they seemed like to take English lessons in conventional form, paper and pencil, rather than in hybrid leaning form, because they used to study in conventional method. When they submitted English assignments online or personally, their opinions were changed. They finally trusted to hybid learning method. This method of the research use quantitative method.The research found that significantly different capability in basic structure comprehension. The obtained t-test value for hybrid learning module on basic structure was 7.85 while the critical value of p< .05 level of significance of one-tailed test was 1.671 (d.f.= 60 ). From the t-test computation, it can be concluded that the students taught by hybrid learning module had better capability than those the students taught in conventional, paper and pencil . In conclution, learning basic structure based on hybrid learning module is better than conventional method , paper and pencil. Additionally, some recommendations for future work in this field were made.

Abstract

Speaking skill is one of the most important skill to teach for English department students. Most activities in speaking class are oral presentations, however, there are many students who admitted to have obstacles on speaking performance. The main aim of this study was to find out the factors influencing students’ speaking performance in speaking class, furthermore, it was also to know what difficulties faced by the students of English department at IKIP Budi Utomo Malang. This study applied the descriptive qualitative method which describes the findings and the result of the study qualitatively. The data were collected by using observation, questionnaire, and documentation. This analysis found that both linguistics and non linguistics aspects influenced students’ speaking performance. The linguistics aspect includes vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar while the non-linguistic aspect covers confidence, anxiety, and topical knowledge.

Abstract

: The use of learning media is one of the critical success factors in higher education, therefore an educator must have innovation to use of learning media. The purpose of this research is to develop learning media based on the Inspiring Suit 8 on arbitration material courses of theoretical and practice for Volleyball 1 academic year 2018/2019 at IKIP Budi Utomo Malang. The existence of media will be a big successful support in learning process, so that students do not feel boredom because of the weaknesses of the lecturers, in which they are unable to provided good learning variation or even have difficulty in conveying or transferring knowledge. The research was descriptive qualitative design. The research subjects were students of Physical Education, Health, and Recreation Study Program who took volleyball theory and practice courses in the even semester academic year 2018/2019. The instruments used were the media expert review questionnaire, the learning expert questionnaire, and the trial analysis questionnaire. The questionnaire will be analyzed to see the feasibility of the developed media. Based on the data results review by media expert volleyball, media learning expert and field trials, it can be concluded that media developed is useful in learning process. In addition, it is used to provide independent motivation, which can be used in lesson for students.

Abstract

Menyimak merupakan salah satu dari keterampilan berbahasa, manusia sebagai makhluk hidup sosial menggunakan keterampilan berbahasa dalam kegiatan interaksinya. Menyimak Apresiatif-Kreatif salah satu matakuliah yang dipelajari oleh mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia IKIP Budi Utomo Malang. Pembelajaran matakuliah menyimak akan membosankan apabila diterapkan hanya menggunakan metode ceramah saja. Media JMix sangat cocok untuk membuat soal Bahasa, yaitu untuk membuat kuis dalam bentuk acak kata dan acak kalimat. Cara menyusunnya bisa dengan menklik hurufnya secara berurutan atau menarik dan menyusun hurufnya. Media JMix juga membuat mahasiswa dalam kegiatan menyimak lebih berkonsentrasi, tidak membosankan dan sangat efektif untuk diterapkan pada pembelajaran menyimak apresiatif-kreatif. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas. Penelitian ini berlangsung dalam dua siklus dengan menggunakan desain PTK, melalui 4 tahapan yaitu rencana, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar observasi dosen pengampuh dan mahasiswa, wawancara dan tes. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media JMix dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menyimak mahasiswa pada pembelajaran matakuliah menyimak apresiatif-kreatif.

Abstract

Penelitian ini untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar berupa majalah guna mendukung berhasilnya proses pembelajaran anatomi tumbuhan. Hadirnya majalah anatomi tumbuhan diharapkan dapat memberikan suasana belajar yang baru selama proses belajar, serta mampu memberikan informasi terbaru. Model pengembangan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan model 4D dari Thiagarajan (1974). Model 4D memiliki 4 tahapan antaralain: define, design, develop, dan disseminate, tetapi dalam penelitian ini hanya dilakukan sampai tahap develop saja tanpa tahap disseminate. Sampel yang digunakan dalam uji coba adalah mahasiswa kelas A angkatan 2017 berjumlah 35 orang, data diperoleh dengan menggunakan hasil angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pengembangan bahan ajar Majalah layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran, ini ditunjukkan hasil data uji ahli materi dinyatakan sangat baik, data uji media dan desain pembelajaran dinyatakan sangat baik, data uji coba perorangan dinyatakan sangat baik dan uji coba kelompok sedang dinyatakan sangat baik. Uji coba kelompok sedang dapat disimpulkan bahwa bahan ajar Majalah layak digunakan sebagai salah satu reverensi majalah bahan ajar Anatomi Tumbuhan oleh mahasiswa IKIP Budi Utomo Malang karena sudah tervalidasi.

Abstract

Mastering English actively will make us easy in a business and communicate with people from any country, and able to master all the knowledge we absorb like by socializing with anyone and wherever we are. And one of the most profound fields of English skills is English for hospitality known as the English for hotels. It is very clear why hospitality is so related to English. In modern era, the use of technology can be used for the learning process. Such a phenomenon leads students to be able to learn English wherever and whenever they want to have a discussion or read to get the information they want. This study contains the development of Hospitality material in the form of a weblog for students of English Language Education, IKIP Budi Utomo Malang. The researcher developed material based on a development model developed by Borg and Gall (1983). Borg and Gall (1983). Data from this study will be analyzed qualitatively. In each unit there are sub-sub topics or sub-units with reading skills, writing, listening and speaking. There are also some exercises to practice speaking in the form of dialogue and answering questions based on descriptions that can develop student’s vocabulary for speaking English. The final product is designed as attractive as possible by presenting images and colors that can make students interested. The results of interviews from students are that they like the hospitality class and they can learn wherever and whenever they want to read, because they can easily access material through cell phones. Students are very enthusiastic about learning English for hotels because at the moment the hospitality business is very rapidly developing
