Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to compare road greeneries by describing functional, aesthetic, and maintenance aspects of  those at the settlement of Danau Bogor Raya (DBR), Bukit Sentul (BS) and Kota Wisata (KW). Another one is to propose a concept of functional, aesthetical and maintenance of road greenery. The evaluation of functional aspect are including screening, wind control, glare control, shade control, erosion control, and direction control. The aesthetic evaluation included plant selection and plant arrangement thatevaluated by 30 respondents. While the maintenance included design and technicalaspects. The data analysis indicated differences among thosethe three settlements in plants domination with low to medium variations. The different dimension of road showed that the functional, aesthetic and maintenance aspects of them are not fully suitable with the principle of landscape architecture. In functional aspect, several problem were found such as the problem found in several, such as wind and glare controls in DBR, and wind, glare and shade controls in BS and KW. In aesthetic, the problem found especially in plant arrangement at DBR and KW main ways. In maintenance, technical aspect at DBR and design aspect at KW are still need to be improved.

Abstract

Problems faced by urban area progressively becomingcomplex that can be seen from the growing of built area in town and the decreasing of green space area. The aim of this study is to evaluate influence of urban forestat University of Indonesia Depok as green space area to supply O2and also factors influencing the availibility of O2. Research executed at urban forest University of Indonesia Campus in Depok, South Jakarta. Method which is used in this study is survey method using oxygen requirement approach by Gerarkis. Estimation of student and resident amount also oxygen requirement can be calculated using trend linear analysis method and Doubled Interest Formula. Internal factors of the system are the amount of motor vehicle and residents. This research has given result that UI urban forest’s ability in supplying O2required by motor vehicle has been degraded. Whileits ability to supply O2for residents has been increased.

Abstract

Trees in streetscape functionally and aestheticallyhave significant role. Trees can create aesthetical value as well as increase environmental quality by their character. Canopy shape and color of flower are visually the most prominent character of trees The objective of this study are to observe and evaluate on visual aesthetical quality of trees in streetscape, and on visual perception of tree canopy shape and its flower. The methods to collect data were conducted by survey, reference study, and simulation on streetscape. The estimation of aesthetical qualitywas done by applying Scenic Beauty Estimation and Semantic Differential. The study has shown result that tree canopy shape becomes the most influence element of respondent’s assessment on landscape design. The use of trees with different canopy shapes and color change of tree parts during flowering have given diverse space impression and psychological effect of the same site.

Abstract

Kerinci Lake tourism area is located in Kerinci Seblat National Park area, consists of swamp and lake areas that maintain its beauty and natural ecosystem. This research was conducted to study and to analyze the existing condition of Kerinci Lake tourism area and to arrange the development and managementplan of this area. This research used survey method. The result of this research wasa development and management recommendation, consisted of space concept and siteplan according to the nature preservation, conservation and convenience so that  the potency can be used spreadly according to the environmental and cultural value of Kerinci District. The recommended development and management plan is  spatial zoning, such as intensive recreation zone, semi-intensive recreation zone, passive recreation zone, conservation zone and circulation zone. The zoning  includes a space arrangement to confined the recreation activity based to the confined source of activity’s capacity and the visit intensity. It also puts some attentions to the planing and confined development rules in Kerinci District. The next zoning is the management zoning such as intensive management zone, semi-intensive management zone, and non intensive management zone. This zoning based on thelevel and amount of the visitors, the activity level, visit duration and the damage (vandal) level in a recreation site.

Abstract

In urban development, it is a must in paying attention to and considering the history development of one area that occured in the past, so that legibility of space and special characteristic of the city is formed. Special characteristic of a city can be formed by the existence of space elements, such as path, edges, districts, nodes, and landmarks. This research objectives are to invent all of former Pekanbaru City’s space elements, to find out the most imageable space elements, and to evaluate the factors that have influenced elements have good imageability; and those were undertaken by using survey method. The research result shown that Pekanbaru City has mental map elements with good imageability, and most of them can be identified and imagined both by the citizen of Pekanbaru City as well as by visitors

Abstract

The objectives of this study is studying on developing touring plan in coastal area of Parangtritis based on its visual, natural,  and cultural quality assessment. Those three aspects of quality are used as the basic consideration for site assessment in acquiring the potential tourism area, which is subsequently used in developing a touring system.Scenic Beauty Estimation (SBE) method and visual character variables assessment are used in assessing the visual quality of the study area. The technique of potential zones mapping applied by Gunn (1994) combined with cartographic regionalization (Smith, 1989) are used in assessing both natural and cultural quality of the area.In general, Parangtritis is dominated with high to  medium quality of potential area for tourism, which includes beach, sand dunes, woodlands, and a big part of agriculture area. Based on potential area and existing tourism objects, there are three track alternatives that have been developed in this study by using the concept of developing an interpretive track, as adopted from Damayanti (2003).According to the prioritizing process using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), the third alternative of touring plan, whichhas the highest priority for the criteria of educational benefits, is perceived  to be the most preferable alternative as the potential tourism network in Parangtritis Coastal Area.

Abstract

Roof garden can be interpreted as garden residing in a roof top. Not all plants can survive living on roof tops. The plants which can be planted in roof gardens have to be adaptive to high speed of wind, extreme temperature, and high intensity of irradiation. Objective of this research is to learn environmental influence of stress that induced anatomical adaptation of tree spesies (i.e Bauhinia sp., Erythrina christagalli, Mussaenda sp.and Wodyetia bifurcata) at roof garden in Taman Anggrek condominium, Jakarta.Plants which are planted in normal garden will response differently with the ones in roof garden. Different plants have their own adaptation form that can be visible from their anatomy. The result of this research is Bauhinia sp. shows a better adaptation in roof garden, Wodyetia bifurcata can adapt well, while Erythrina christagalli and Mussaenda sp. cannot adapt well in roof garden. A simple visualisation value concluded that Bauhinia  sp. has a better shape, then the others. After all, this study should be completed with research of more physiological pattern and a complete assesment of tree visualisation.
