Indonesian Journal of Educational Research and Technology (IJERT) promotes research in the broad field of Education Research and Technology (including such disciplines as Agriculture Education, Environmental Science Education, etc.) with particular respect to Indonesia, but not limited to authorship or topical coverage within the region. Contributions are expected from senior researchers, project managers, research administrators and PhD students at advanced stages of their research, representing both public organizations and private industry. Equally, the journal if intended for scholars and students, reseachers working at research organizations and government agencies, and also for enterprises undertaking applied R&D to lead innovations. As far as the criteria for evaluating and accepting submissions is concerned, a rigorous review process will be used. Abstract

The essence of basic technology (BT) in the secondary school curriculum is to assist learners to develop an interest in technology and introduce students to the basic rudiment of technology. Thus, BT teachers must use relevant instructional media that would help in achieving the aims of BT in secondary. This study developed and validated a digital photo series to teach BT concepts in upper basic schools in the Ilorin metropolis. The study adopted a design and development model type. Five BT teachers and three educational technology experts were randomly selected to participate in the study. Three research instruments were used in this study, a developed digital photo series on the BT concept, an educational technology expert rating guide, and a subject content validation questionnaire. Digital photo series was successfully developed to teaching upper BT. Educational technology experts agreed that the developed digital photo series satisfied the required expectation. The cost for developing digital photo series was determined. The study concluded that the digital photo series is a powerful instructional tool that can enhance the teaching of BT in Nigeria. The findings imply that schools should adopt the use of digital photo series in the teaching and learning of BT to concretize learning contents and increase students’ performance.

Abstract

This research aimed to: (1) develop and find the effectiveness of augmented reality application for exercise to promote health among elderly, (2) compare physical fitness in terms of flexibility of the elderly before and after exercising by augmented reality application for exercise to promote health among elderly, and (3) study elderly satisfaction towards the use of augmented reality application for exercise. The samples were 30 elderly in Bueng Namrak, Thailand. The samples were selected through a purposive sampling technique. The instruments were augmented reality application for exercise to promote health among elderly, physical fitness test in terms of flexibility, and satisfaction form. The results showed that learning and using augmented reality application for exercise to promote health among elderly was effective according to KW1 80.80 at KW1 80/83.33. The physical fitness in terms of flexibility after using the application was higher than before using the application. The physical fitness in terms of flexibility before using the application was 5.91 in average, with standard deviation of 6.76, whereas the average after using the application was 6.15, with the standard deviation of 6.53. The t-test value after using the application was 2.80 at a statistically significant level of.05. The satisfaction of the elderly towards the use of augmented reality application for exercise to promote health among elderly was 4.64 in average, which was at the highest level.

Abstract

This study aims to see whether the Think-Talk-Write method improves deaf children's capacity to compose Indonesian language sentence structures. The research method used was an experimental method using the design of one group pretest-posttest. The data collection technique used was a writing test. This study was conducted on seven deaf children in class XI at special needs school in Cicendo, Bandung, Indonesia. The study's findings based on the comparison of pre-test and post-test scores showed an increase in post-test scores was higher in each aspect, namely in the elements of Think, Talk, and Writes. This evidence showed that the seven subjects being able to choose random words and then arrange the words into a sentence structure with the subject-verb-object sentence pattern. This research can be a recommendation for teachers regarding the use of learning strategies, especially the Think-Talk-Write strategy to help improve the ability to compose Indonesian sentence structures or other materials for deaf children.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the relationship between the level of online learning and the academic performance of bachelor of physical education students. The light of this study was to determine students’ level of online learning, evaluate students’ academic performance (in terms of satisfaction, students-instructors interaction, and instructors’ performance), and introduce a new framework to increase students’ satisfaction in learning online. The finding shows that level of online learning in the program is moderate. Students’ academic performance in terms of students’ satisfaction is moderately satisfactory, students-instructors interaction is to a greater extent and instructors’ performance was effective. The level of online learning was not significantly related to students’ satisfaction, and the level of online learning was significantly related to students-instructors interaction and instructors' performance. Based on the findings, interaction with instructors and instructors’ effectiveness in operating online classes affects the learning experiences and performance of students. This research can contribute to the development of the online learning process since it provides information about the status of students upon learning online.

Abstract

The Reynolds Number Test Bench is a self-contained device that uses water to allow students to study laminar, turbulent flow regimes, and transition conditions. The vertical test bench does not allow a large number of students to see the experiment clearly, it only takes two people in front of the device to block the view of the rest of the students and this causes a problem. The idea of this work is to build a horizontal test bed that allows students to see the experience clearly and easily. The results obtained from our horizontal device are the same as that of the vertical bench.

Abstract

English club was a club of students with common ambitions or interests in English. This study aims to find out Students’ Perceptions of Speaking Practice in the Step-Up English Club (SU) club. This study used the qualitative method, observation, and interview as research instruments. The subject of this study is the members of the SU club as participants. As the result of interviews, most of the students had positive perceptions about joining in SU club, yet some still haven't adapted to the online meetings. The students believe that SU clubs could improve their fluency. The student also had a perception through an English meeting club as a proper environment to enhance skills especially in speaking. There are similarities between this research and the previous research. English meeting clubs have a positive influence on learning English. However, there are some different results found, especially from the social distancing time during Covid 19 pandemic. Positively, with both online meetings and offline meetings, the SU Club gives students a place to properly practice speaking English without fear to make mistakes and is an appropriate medium to improve students' speaking skills. However, English clubs, in general, should design more diverse and fun activities, to gradually change students' reluctance to take online sessions.

Abstract

The study identified the Digital Collaborative Tools used for learning among undergraduates; (i) determined undergraduates’ awareness on the use of these tools for learning; (ii) ascertained undergraduates’ perception of their use for learning; (iii) identified challenges faced on the use of Digital Collaborative Tools for learning; (iv) ascertained coping strategies of integrating these tools for learning in Ilorin metropolis; and (v) examined the influence of gender on undergraduates’ awareness of Digital Collaborative Tools for learning in Ilorin metropolis. The research adopted a descriptive research design of the survey type. The population is comprised of all undergraduate students in the Ilorin metropolis. A stratified random sampling technique was used to select 200 students and a researcher-designed questionnaire was used to elicit objective responses from the subjects. Frequency counts, percentages, and mean scores were used to analyze the research questions while t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were employed in testing the hypotheses. The findings of this study were that Digital Collaborative Tools were used for learning among undergraduates. The study recommended that male and female teachers are to redirect their focus on the utilization of digital collaborative tools for learning.

Abstract

This study investigates the factors affecting distance learning for Physical Education students. It used a descriptive method and a survey questionnaire using a google form to gather the data of the thirty-three second-year students.  Results revealed that the said students have low motivation in doing their tasks such as assignments, reports, assessments, demonstrations, and oral recitation.  In the perception of the students in terms of social presence and social interaction, they were dissatisfied when it comes to online discussions, conversing, interacting, participating, and speaking online. The students also preferred face to face mode of learning and this implies that future researchers should conduct and make a program that will help to make the students motivated in distance learning. The school administration especially the Bachelor of Physical Education department should implement more strategies and programs to increase the level of motivation, social presence, and social interaction of the students in today's distance learning due to the pandemic condition. The Commission on Higher Education should reduce and limit the number of students in each class as to approve the limited face to face class for the Physical Education students so that they may be able to do the task with proper execution and can be a big impact on the level of motivation, social presence and social interaction of the students, especially that these students preferred face to face mode of learning than online learning.
