Abstract

The purpose of this study is to discuss the meaning of love which analyzes research on the lyrics of Tiara Andini's single song which has a mini album entitled "Merasa Indah", "Forgive Me", and "Usai" by utilizing Roland Barthes' semiotic hypothesis. The method used in this study is a subjective strategy. Subjective exploration is intended to understand the peculiarities of meeting test subjects, including behavior, affirmation, inspiration, and activity. The meaning of denotation and connotation is examined by Roland Barthes in relation to the meaning of "Love" in the three song lyrics in this semiotic analysis. Music is another form of art where harmonious words are used to express ideas. Semiotics is the science that is used to describe something, where language is also a blueprint of signs that contain certain messages from society. The concept of denotation and connotation was put forward by Barthes as a new definition of a sign. Signification makes the relationship between signifier and guide to the real world plausible, appearing in the intended importance, direct, and clear. In other words, denotation is a description of how signifieds and signifieds, as well as signs and objects, relate to external reality.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the effect of the scaffolding technique proposed by Vygotsky (1987) which was carried out through peer tutor activities in the BIPA program at one of the universities in Malang. This research is a case study conducted on one foreign learner who participated in a private BIPA program. Qualitative methods are used to elaborate discussions based on the results of research findings. The main focuses of this study were the influence of peer tutoring activities and social interaction on the development of Indonesian language skills of the BIPA learner. The results of the study stated that the scaffolding technique carried out through peer tutoring was very helpful for learners in understanding the Indonesian language quickly. In addition, the activities that were carried out flexibly and more relaxed made the learner not feel the pressure of learning. The process of social interaction that the learner experienced with the environment also had a significant effect on the understanding of the Indonesian language and culture. An interesting thing was also found from the social interaction between the BIPA learner and the native Indonesian which was the changing lifestyle and thinking experienced by the learner.

Abstract

Based on age groups, languages ​​can be divided into three groups, children's speech groups, youth speech groups, and adult speech groups. The speech of adolescents is more varied than that of children and adults. Teenage speech is synonymous with the use of slang languages. This is not only applied in daily conversation but also used in social media, advertisements, even films as in film of Bebas. In the film of Bebas, slang is not only used by teenagers but also used by adults. The theory used in this study is the theory of adolescent language. The language of adolescents cannot be classified in detail because its development is very broad and rapid, giving rise to new kinds of new languages. The method used is descriptive method with listening and note technique. Based on the results of the study, several slang languages ​​can be classified into four forms, namely greetings, verbs, adjectives, and nouns.

Abstract

This study was aimed at investigating presentation of absurdity in Amar Putra’s of Old Man of Kusumpur. This study analyzed a short story using library research. Researchers used Camus’ idea of absurdity to analyze the main character and other minor characters. In analyzing the data, researchers follow some steps, as follow: 1) read the short story; 2) identify the main character and minor characters; 3) relate the situation and condition faced by the characters with the concept of absurdity; 4) draw conclusion regarding the absurdity in the short story. The finding shows that the main character defines the meaning of life by looking for help from other character in this case a Godlike character named Big Man. The characters in the story choose not to surrender so that they try to seek for help from others. Even though, Fakirchand found the Big Man has already been death due to big flood as natural disaster swept majority of the village where Big Man lived.

Abstract

The utterances of asking, ordering, begging, ordering, giving orders are a few examples of the absence of speech. A speech act is a speech which contains an action. Each speech act has the ability to convey useful information and statements. In this article, the writer is interested in analyzing the videos in the “Zenius: Hobby Live Class” playlist. The purpose of conducting this research is to discuss and look for forms of locutionary speech acts in the “Zenius: Hobby Live Class” playlist. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach and a pragmatic approach with a descriptive research type. The data used in this study came from utterances or also known as utterances in the “Zenius: Hobby Live Class” playlist. The speech acts found in the study included two categories of locutionary acts, namely, 31 utterances of locutionary acts and 9 utterances of locutionary speech acts. With this research, it is hoped that it will be useful for other readers and writers as a source of reference and can add to knowledge in the field of pragmatics.

Abstract

This article examines children's literature in cyberspace. The development of increasingly sophisticated technology requires humans to keep up with the times. The existence of literature as a forum for education has been done for a long time. At the present time the development of literature as a forum for children's education is starting to be carried out in the cyber realm. Various platforms for spreading the values of character education to children are quite extensive, one of which is through the YouTube application, especially on the YouTube channel Riri Interactive Children's Stories which has 1.04 million subscribers. On Riri's YouTube channel Interactive Children's Stories, eighteen character education values were found which include; (1) Religious, (2) Honest, (3) Tolerance, (4) Discipline, (5) Hard work, (6) Creative, (7) Independent, (8) Democracy, (9) Curiosity, (10 ) National spirit, (11) Love of the motherland, (12) Appreciate achievements, (13) Friendly/communicative, (14) Love peace, (15) Love to read, (16) Care for the environment, (17) Care for social and (18 ) Responsible.

Abstract

Cang Icang's poem appeared since the founding of the Kayuagung area. However, in reality these poems are rarely used by the people of Kayuagung, especially the Cang Icang poem. This is because one by one the old speakers die. While the younger generation is less interested in learning and using it. The purpose of this study is to describe the inner structure contained in the old Cang-Incang poem in the oral literature of Kayuagung. The author uses a descriptive method with qualitative data aimed at describing the inner structure in the old Cang-Icang poem in Kayuagung oral literature. The techniques used to obtain and collect research data are recording techniques, listening techniques and note-taking techniques. The Cang-Incang poem is a poem consisting of four lines in each stanza, the first and second stanzas are appendices while the third and fourth stanzas are content, each stanza has a relationship between stanzas. The inner structure in Cang-Incang's poetry contains several themes including divinity and humanity, feelings in Cang-Incang's poetry where the poet's feelings are sad and happy, the tone and atmosphere of the poet tries to advise and forget the poet's mood, and the message implied in the contents of the poem. Cang-Incang advice. Cang-Incang in the oral literature of Kayuagung obtained five Cang-Incang poems from five informants, the research finding data are as follows: (1) Cang-Incang's poem "remember and surrender to God's greatness", (2) Cang-Incang's poem "quipped at a child who forgetting the love of parents", (3) Cang-Incang's poem "pours out sad feelings because he feels unloved by his mother", (4) Cang-Incang's poem "expresses feelings or desires of the heart", (5) Cang-Incang's poem "entertains yourself at work.”

Abstract

This study discusses students' ability to develop exposition paragraphs using a causal development pattern. The ability to develop exposition paragraphs with a pattern of cause-and-effect development is one way to develop ideas into main ideas and then into paragraphs that are complete and full of information that is in accordance with facts. The purpose of this study is to find out and describe the level of students' abilities in developing exposition paragraphs with a causal pattern. The method used to achieve the objectives of this research is to use a quantitative descriptive method. The data collection technique in this study used the performance test technique, namely assigning students to develop paragraphs with a causal pattern to become exposition paragraphs. The sample in this study was class X students in the even semester of SMA Negeri 14 Bandar Lampung, totaling 25 students. The level of ability to develop exposition paragraphs with a causal pattern for students is in the sufficient category with an average score of 61. The level of student ability based on the aspects assessed are: (1) the overall organization of paragraphs with a value of 66 is included in the sufficient category, (2) ) paragraph unity with a value of 65 is included in the sufficient category, (3) paragraph cohesiveness with a value of 47 is included in the less category, (4) paragraph development with a value of 66 is included in the sufficient category, (5) writing and neatness with a value of 65 is included in the sufficient category .

Abstract

Kemajuan teknologi informasi seperti sekarang ini memberi kemudahan kepada setiap orang untuk saling berbagi informasi melalui sosial media termasuk Podcast Youtube. Namun, fenomena tersebut bukan tanpa masalah karena banyak informasi yang disebarkan mengandung kata-kata kasar diujarkan dengan berbagai gaya sehingga menimbulkan berbagai macam interpretasi di masyarakat baik hanya sekedar stilistika atau sudah termasuk ujaran kebencian. Penelitian linguistik forensik ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bahasa kasar Rocky Gerung yang diungkapkan dengan cara diralat dalam Podcastnya. Dua ahli bahasa dan dua ahli hukum diwawancarai untuk mendapatkan interpretasi dari ujaran bahasa kasar tersebut. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa menurut ahli hukum bahasa kasar yang diujarkan untuk pihak lain pada sosial media memiliki potensi masuk kedalam ujaran kebencian daripada hanya sekedar stilistika karena dapat merendahkan atau menghina pihak tertentu. Hal senada diungkapkan oleh ahli bahasa bahwa perlukusi dari ujaran tersebut memiliki tendensi untuk menyerang pihak lain daripada hanya gaya ujaran. Namun, keempat ahli tersebut sepakat bahwa untuk membuktikan lebih lanjut bahasa kasar yang telah diralat tersebut termasuk stilistika atau ujaran kebencian, maka harus dibuktikan di pengadilan.

Abstract

The learning method is the method used in learning. This method is used to achieve competence in the material given to students at that time. The use of this learning method has of course been adapted to the needs of students and teachers as well as the suitability of the material. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques are measurement techniques. Measurements were made to measure students' ability to analyze news elements. The results of the study show that the application of the Mind Mapping method to learning to analyze news elements has benefits and constraints in its application. The final results obtained from the application of the Mind Mapping method are said to be good, from the calculation results the average value is 75.8..
