Abstract

This research was conducted based on the problem found in academic writing class about paraphrasing at English Education Department at the fifth semester IAIN Bukittinggi. Paraphrasing is known as a way to avoid plagiarism while creating scientific papers or journals. However, the researcher interviewed the lecturer and found that the most of the students have difficulty putting the ideas into their own words. They used too many words from the original passage that shows the students were lack of vocabulary mastery. Moreover, the students used monotonous technique of paraphrase. This research used mixed method. It is a procedure for collecting, analyzing, and mixing both quantitative and qualitative methods in a single study or a series to understand a research problem. The students were given a paraphrasing test to know the students ability. The data were analyzed using scoring rubric proposed by Callison. After that, some students were interviewed to find out the dominant paraphrasing technique used by the students. After calculating the score, the result of the study showed that the student’s ability in paraphrasing was 59. As writing band suggested by Leo, the students’ ability in paraphrasing is in moderate level where it is rather well organized. Arguments are rather relevant in relation to writer’s view. Main ideas and supporting ideas are rather clear. The message is almost clear but with some loss of detail. In addition, the interview showed that most of the students use synonym replacement technique in paraphrasing the text. It is because most of the student agreed that the technique is the easiest technique to use.

Abstract

Latarbelakang penelitian ini dilakukan adalah kurangnya semangat siswa dalam belajar dan rendahnya tingkat pemahaman dalam menyerap materi pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam di SD N 03 Tajuang Gadang. Tujuan daripada penelitian ini yakni guna mengetahui pelaksanaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam materi zikir dan doa setelah shalat kelas III di SDN 03 Tanjuang Gadang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif jenis deskriptif, dengan menggunakan informan kunci yakni guru mata pelajaran PAI dan informan pendukungnya yakni siswa kelas III dan kepala sekolah SDN 03 Tanjuang Gadang. Dalam mengumpulkan data penulis menggunakan data observasi dan wawancara. Guna menguji absahnya data maka digunakan triangulasi sumber, yakni dengan mengkomparasi hasil wawancara yang dilakukan pada informan pendukung dan informan kunci dengan hasil pengamatan secara langsung oleh penulis. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bawah pelaksanaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw pada pembelajaran pendidikan agama Islam kelas III belum dilakukan dengan maksimal, pelaksanaan belum sesuai dengan langkah-langkah yang digunakan. Kendala dalam pelaksanaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw pada pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam, bahwa guru belum bisa menerapkan model pembelajaran yang dipakai dengan sempurna. Abstract The background of this research is the lack of enthusiasm of students in learning and the low level of understanding in absorbing the subject matter of Islamic Religious Education at SD N 03 Tajuang Gadang. The purpose of this research is to find out the implementation of the Jigsaw type cooperative learning model in Islamic Religious Education subjects for remembrance and prayer after class III prayer at SDN 03 Tanjuang Gadang. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, using key informants namely PAI subject teachers and supporting informants, namely third grade students and the principal of SDN 03 Tanjuang Gadang. In collecting data the author uses observation and interview data. In order to test the validity of the data, source triangulation was used, namely by comparing the results of interviews conducted on supporting informants and key informants with the results of direct observations by the author. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the Jigsaw type cooperative learning model in Islamic religious education class III has not been carried out optimally, the implementation has not been in accordance with the steps used. The obstacle in implementing the Jigsaw type cooperative learning model in Islamic Religious Education learning is that teachers have not been able to apply the learning model used perfectly.

Abstract

This research was motivated by several problems of class VII students of SMPN 2 Dua Koto, Pasaman Regency related to learning English such as vocabulary and speaking. One of them is that some students have low scores in the vocabulary test and speaking test, the students' low ability to speak English, they do not have enough vocabulary. Therefore, this study was conducted so that the researchers found out whether there was a relationship between the students' vocabulary and the speaking achievement of the fifth grade students of SMPN 2 Dua Koto. This study uses a quantitative approach to the type of correlation design. The population in this study were all class VII at SMPN 2 Dua Koto consisting of 3 classes with a sample consisting of 72 students taken through total sampling technique. Data was collected through a vocabulary test and speaking test. The results showed that there was a relationship between vocabulary and speaking ability of seventh grade students of SMPN 2 Dua Koto for the academic year 2020/2021. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that vocabulary has a positive important role for speaking ability. That is, if students have a large vocabulary, then they will have good speaking skills. on the other hand, if students have low vocabulary, they have low speaking ability. So, this study was conducted to find the relationship between vocabulary and speaking ability of students in the seventh grade of SMPN 2 Dua Koto, Pasaman Regency. Abstrak Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh beberapa masalah siswa kelas VII SMPN 2 Dua Koto Kabupaten Pasaman terkait dengan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris seperti vocabulary dan speaking. Diantaranya siswa memiliki nilai yang rendah dalam tes kosa kata dan tes berbicara, rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris, mereka tidak memiliki kosakata yang cukup. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan agar peneliti mengetahui apakah ada hubungan antara kosa kata siswa dengan pencapaian berbicara siswa kelas Vll SMPN 2 Dua Koto. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis design korelasi. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh kelas Vll di SMPN 2 Dua Koto terdiri 3 kelas dengan sampel yang terdiri 72 siswa yang diambil melalui teknik total sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui test kosa kata dan test berbicara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan antara kosakata dan kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas VII SMPN 2 Dua Koto tahun ajaran 2020/2021. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kosakata memiliki peran penting yang positif bagi kemampuan berbicara. Artinya, jika siswa memiliki kosakata yang banyak, maka mereka akan memiliki kemampuan berbicara yang baik. sebaliknya, jika siswa memiliki kosa kata yang rendah, mereka memiliki kemampuan berbicara yang rendah. Jadi, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menemukan hubungan antara kosakata dan kemampuan berbicara siswa di kelas tujuh SMPN 2 Dua Koto, Kabupaten Pasaman.

Abstract

Pembelajaran Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam (SKI) adalah sebuah mata pelajaran dari Pendidikan Agama Islam yang mengarahkan setiap peserta didik untuk dapat mengenal, memahami sejarah tentang islam, kemudian dapat dijadikan sebagai dasar pandangan dalam hidup siswa tersebut. Dengan adanya bimbingan, pengajaran, dan latihan menggunakan pengalaman dan juga pembiasaan. Pembelajaran SKI ini sangat penting dalam kehidupan siswa, realita yang terjadi sebenarnya siswa menganggap pembelajaran SKI ini sangat membosankan, oleh sebab itu diterapkan lah metode pembelajaran kontekstual yang mengkaitkan pembelajaran dengan kehidupan nyata, sehingga pembelajaran tidak terlalu membosankan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk menjelaskan apakah strategi pembelajaran CTL pada SKI dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran dan untuk mengidentifikasi respon dari peserta didik tersebut. Peneliti kali ini menggunakan jenis penelitian Library Research atau biasa disebut kualitatif. Dalam pengumpulan data sendiri yaitu observasi dan dokumentasi. Analisisnya yaitu menggunakan analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian kali ini yaitu CTL dalam SKI dapat meningkatkan kualitas belajar siswa, strategi CTL ini dapat mengintegrasikan materi pembelajaran pada kejadian yang terjadi dalam kehidupan nyata, sehingga dengan diterapkannya strategi CTL ini dapat mengikuti pembelajaran yang telah disampaikan. Jadi dengan adanya strategi ini dapat meningkatkan keefektifan dalam pembelajaran SKI dan dapat mewujudkan pembelajaran yang lebih berkualitas. Hasilnya strategi ini bisa di bilang berhasil dengan adanya indikasi bahwa pembelajaran tersebut dapat berjalan dengan menyenangkan, dan memuaskan. Abstract Learning Islamic Cultural History (SKI) is a subject of Islamic Religious Education which directs each student to be able to recognize, understand the history of Islam, then it can be used as a basic view in the student's life. With guidance, teaching, and practice using experience and also habituation. SKI learning is very important in students' lives, the reality is that students actually find SKI learning very boring, therefore contextual learning methods are applied that link learning to real life, so that learning is not too boring. The purpose of this study is to explain whether CTL learning strategies in SKI can improve the quality of learning and to determine the responses of these students. The researcher this time uses the type of research Library Research or commonly called qualitative. In collecting the data itself, namely observation and documentation. The analysis is using descriptive qualitative analysis. The results of this research are that CTL in SKI can improve the quality of student learning, this CTL strategy can integrate learning material in real-life events, so that by implementing this CTL strategy it can follow the learning that has been delivered. So the existence of this strategy can increase effectiveness in SKI learning and can create higher quality learning. The results of this strategy can be said to be successful with indications that the learning can run in a fun, and satisfying way.

Abstract

There were student problem foun at SMKN 1 Ranah Batahan which consist of  TP, TAV, TKJ and OTKP. Some students errors commited in misformation and some others did errors in format application lette. This research used a descriptive quantitative. The populations of this research were 105 of  XII Grade students of SMKN 1 Ranah Batahan which consist of  TP, TAV, TKJ and OTKP. The researcher used  purposive sampling to determine because the researcher has some consideration to determine the samples. The researcher chose one of fourth classes as the sample. The sample in this research was 24 students. The tehnique of the data collection in this research was students worksheet of writing application letter. To analyze the data collected the researcher  used steps by Ellis in journal Rizki Ananda namely selection, identification, classify and to calculate the data using the formula by sugiono namely: P=f/Nx 100%. The result of the research showed  that students’ error in writing application letter at XII grade in SMKN 1 Ranah Batahan were 149.4 errors. First, there were 62 errors in misformation which were 41% of total errors. Second, there were 50.2 errors in omission which were 34% of total errors. Third there were 26.3 error in addition which were 18% of total errors. There were errors 10.9 errors  in misordering which were 7% of total errors. Furtheremore, the dominant errors in this research was missformation which were 41% of total errors. Abstrak Terdapat permasalahan siswa yang ditemukan di SMKN 1 Ranah Batahan yang terdiri dari TP, TAV, TKJ dan OTKP. Beberapa siswa melakukan kesalahan dalam salah informasi dan beberapa lainnya melakukan kesalahan dalam format surat lamaran Penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif. Populasi penelitian ini adalah 105 siswa kelas XII SMKN 1 Ranah Batahan yang terdiri dari TP, TAV, TKJ dan OTKP. Peneliti menggunakan purposive sampling dalam penentuannya karena peneliti mempunyai beberapa pertimbangan untuk menentukan sampel. Peneliti memilih salah satu dari keempat kelas sebagai sampel. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 24 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar kerja siswa menulis surat lamaran. Untuk menganalisis data yang terkumpul peneliti menggunakan langkah-langkah Ellis dalam jurnal Rizki Ananda yaitu memilih, mengidentifikasi, mengklasifikasikan dan menghitung data menggunakan rumus menurut sugiono yaitu: P=f/Nx 100%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kesalahan penulisan surat lamaran kerja siswa kelas XII SMKN 1 Ranah Batahan sebanyak 149,4 kesalahan. Pertama, terdapat 62 kesalahan dalam misformation yang merupakan 41% dari total kesalahan. Kedua, ada 50,2 kesalahan dalam penghilangan yang merupakan 34% dari total kesalahan. Ketiga ada 26,3 kesalahan tambahan yang merupakan 18% dari total kesalahan. Ada kesalahan 10,9 kesalahan dalam kesalahan pemesanan yang merupakan 7% dari total kesalahan. Selain itu, kesalahan yang dominan dalam penelitian ini adalah kesalahan formasi sebesar 41% dari total kesalahan.

Abstract

Belum pernah ada dalam sejarah dunia, menguasai sepertiga dunia kecuali seperti yang telah ditunjukkan dalam sejarah Islam. Pada masa Khulafaur Rasyidin dan beberapa khalifah Dinasti Umayyah, Islam menguasai hampir sepertiga dunia. Dua kerajaan besar pada saat itu hancur, yaitu Persia dan Romawi. Mesir dan Afrika, Spanyol (Andalusia) dan sebagian Eropa, Persia dan sebagian Asia Tengah menjadi kerajaan Islam. Kemudian dalam waktu yang lama di bawah naungan Islam mereka hidup makmur dan sejahtera. Mengapa umat Islam di masa lalu melakukannya? Padahal Alquran yang digunakan masyarakat pada masa lalu sama dengan yang digunakan umat Islam saat ini. Bisakah umat Islam berkuasa kembali? Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan dan menganalisis perbandingan antara kejayaan umat Islam di masa lalu dengan kondisi umat Islam sekarang, sehingga hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan evaluasi pendidikan umat Islam saat ini agar dapat membawa Islam kembali ke masa kejayaannya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kepustakaan dan analisis deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan interpretative. Hasil penelitian adalah bahwa kegemilangan sejarah peradaban Islam pada masa lalu adalah sebuah perjuangan umat Islam dalam membumikan ayat-ayat sains dalam al-Qur’an. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah al-Qur’an harus menjadi spirit pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan tanpa adanya dikotomi ilmu, karena tujuan utama dari ilmu pengetahuan adalah untuk memberikan manfaat bagi manusia sebagai sebuah pertanggung jawaban terhadap amanah akal yang diberikan oleh Allah swt. Abstract Not yet in the history of the world, ruled over a third of the world except as has been shown in the history of Islam. At the time of Khulafaur Rashidin and several caliphs of the Umayyad Dynasty, Islam controlled almost a third of the world. The two great empires at that time were destroyed, namely Persia and Rome. Egypt and Africa, Spain (Andalusia) and parts of Europe, Persia and parts of Central Asia became Islamic empires. Then in a long time under the auspices of Islam they prospered and prospered. Why did Muslims in the past do it? Even though the Qur'an used by the people in the past is the same as the one used by Muslims today. Can Muslims be in power again? The purpose of this study is to explain and analyze the comparison between the glory of Muslims in the past and the condition of Muslims now, so that the results of this study can be used as an evaluation material for the education of Muslims today in order to bring Islam back to its glory days. The research method used is library research and qualitative descriptive analysis with an interpretive approach. The result of the research is that the glorious history of Islamic civilization in the past was a struggle of Muslims in grounding scientific verses in the Qur'an. The conclusion of this study is that the Koran must be the spirit of scientific development without any scientific dichotomy, because the main purpose of science is to provide benefits to humans as an accountability for the mandate of reason given by Allah SWT

Abstract

Salah satu komponen terpenting dalam proses pembelajaran adalah pendidik dan peserta didik. Seiring dengan perkembangan zaman, terjadi pergeseran pola hubungan guru dan siswa. Nilai ekonomi telah mendorong banyak kebijakan, dan apresiasi siswa terhadap gurupun telah menurun, harga pekerjaan guru lebih tinggi, dan penghargaan guru terhadapnya lebih rendah. Mengingat urgensi peran guru dalam proses pendidikan, banyak ulama menulis tentang kewajiban, sifat atau tugas yang harus dimiliki guru dan siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian adalah  bahwa seorang guru terikat dengan etika profesi pada 3 (tiga) dimensi, yaitu (1) etika profesi guru yang berkaitan dengan dirinya sendiri, (2) etika profesi guru yang berkaitan dengan siswa dan sesama guru dan  (3) etika profesi guru terkait dengan tugasnya.   Temuan penelitian adalah aspek yang harus dimiliki seorang guru menurut Al Quran dan Hadist adalah (1) zuhud, bersih dari sifat tercela, (2) bijaksana, tegas, pemaaf, sabar dan (3) tulus ikhlas, kompeten dan komunikatif.  Disimpulkan bahwa Etika Profsi Guru telah diatur dalam Islam melalui Al Quran dan Hadist dan hendaknya seorang guru mengamalkan aspek aspek tersebut. Abstract Education in simple terms can be interpreted as an effort to shape human personality in accordance with the values and ethical codes contained in society and the state. One of the most important components in the learning process is educators and students. Along with the times, there has been a shift in the pattern of teacher-student relationships. Economic values have driven many policies, and students' appreciation of teachers has decreased, teachers' work is priced higher, and teachers' respect for them is lower. Given the urgency of the teacher's role in the educational process, many scholars write about the obligations, characteristics or duties that teachers and students must have. This research is a qualitative descriptive research with a type of library research. The results of the research are limited to personal and professional aspects including: 1. Ethics of the teaching profession related to himself, namely asceticism, clean from sin and despicable traits. 2. Ethics of the teaching profession relating to students and fellow teachers, namely being wise and firm, forgiving and patient, having dignity and self-esteem, loving students as loving their own children, knowing the habits of students. 3. The ethics of the teaching profession are related to their duties, namely being sincere in work, having competence and mastering the field of study, being able to create active communication between teachers and students.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the problems of class XI students at SMAN 3 Batusangkar. Some students have limitations in the knowledge of correct reading learning strategies, which causes some problems for students in writing. First, some students have various reading strategies that make these students have problems in learning. Second, some students do not understand the use of good and correct learning strategies in discussing HOTS questions. The researcher's question in this study is what are the students' strategies in learning reading and how they use them. The purpose of this research is to find out what types of strategies students have in learning reading and how they use them. This study uses mixed research methods with class XI as the research population. The research sample amounted to 40. Data was collected through open and closed questionnaires. In a closed questionnaire, students are asked to tick one of the scales containing 3 scores. In an open questionnaire, the researcher got the answers what the students' strategies were and how they implemented them. The results showed that most of the students applied a strategy based on the highest percentage, the strategy was a cognitive strategy of 10.3% and the lowest percentage was an affective strategy of 6.57% in using the HOTS text reading strategy. Researchers can conclude as follows. First, students use cognitive strategies because they help students make up for their lack of knowledge in learning to read. Second, most students rarely use affective strategies for several reasons in reading HOTS texts. Abstrak Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan siswa kelas XI SMAN 3 Batusangkar. Beberapa siswa memiliki keterbatasan dalam pengetahuan strategi pembelajaran membaca yang benar, yang menyebabkan beberapa masalah bagi siswa dalam menulis. Pertama, beberapa siswa memiliki berbagai strategi membaca yang membuat siswa tersebut memiliki masalah dalam belajar. Kedua, sebagian siswa belum memahami penggunaan strategi pembelajaran yang baik dan benar dalam membahas soal HOTS. Pertanyaan peneliti dalam penelitian ini adalah apa strategi siswa dalam belajar membaca dan bagaimana mereka menggunakannya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis strategi apa yang dimiliki siswa dalam pembelajaran membaca dan bagaimana mereka menggunakannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian campuran dengan kelas XI sebagai populasi penelitian. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 40. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner terbuka dan tertutup. Dalam angket tertutup, siswa diminta mencentang salah satu skala yang berisi 3 skor. Dalam angket terbuka, peneliti mendapat jawaban apa strategi siswa dan bagaimana mereka menerapkannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa menerapkan strategi berdasarkan persentase tertinggi yaitu strategi kognitif sebesar 10,3% dan persentase terendah adalah strategi afektif sebesar 6,57% dalam menggunakan strategi membaca teks HOTS. Peneliti dapat menyimpulkan sebagai berikut. Pertama, siswa menggunakan strategi kognitif karena membantu siswa menutupi kekurangan pengetahuan mereka dalam belajar membaca. Kedua, sebagian besar siswa jarang menggunakan strategi afektif karena beberapa alasan dalam membaca teks HOTS.

Abstract

This research is triggered by students' speaking performance problems. The first problem is related to the fact the srudents still cannot  speak fluently and accurately. Secondly, students still have low confidence in practicing speaking skills. Thirdly, students did not have an English mastery strategy. This study aimes as finding do not significant effect of the round robin technique to improve students' speaking performance in terms of their fluency and accuracy in practicing interpersonal dialogue. This research was an experimental research. In collecting data researcher used pretest-posttest control control  design. The  experimental group was VIII.A (23 students ) and control group that was VIII.B (23 Students). The sample was selected by using total sampling technique. The data was got through pre-test and post-test to experimental and control groups. The research findings indicates that,the result of post-test in experimental class has t-obtained (59.25) was higher than t-table (1.6802) with degree of freedom (df) = 0.05. Thus, the alternative hypothesis (ha) was accepted which means that there was significant effect of using Round Robin Technique toward students speaking performance. Thus, it can be concluded that the intire hypothesis was accepted. It was proved that Round Robin Technique could help students in improving and enggaging their speaking and Round Robin Technique is recomended to be lesed by english lesson in teaching speaking. Abstrak Latar belakang penelitian ini dipicu oleh masalah kinerja berbicara siswa. Masalah pertama adalah siswa tidak dapat berbicara  dengan lancar  , kedua  siswa masih memiliki kepercayaan yang  rendah dalam melatih kemampuan berbicara, yang ketiga siswa tidak memiliki strategi penguasaan bahasa inggris. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan pengaruh yang signifikan dari teknik Round Robin untuk meningkatkan kinerja berbicara siswa dalam kefasihan dan ketepatan mereka dalam mempraktikan dialog interpersonal. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian eksperimen. Dalam pengumpulan data peneliti menggunakan pretest-posttest control design. Terdapat kelompok eksperimen VIII.A (23 siswa) dan kelompok kontrol yaitu VIII.B (23 siswa). Sampel dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik total sampling. Data diperoleh melalui pre-test dan post-test pada kelompok eksperimen dan control. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari nilai pre-test dan post-test kelas eksperimen, t-hitung (59,25) lebih besar dari t-tabel (1,6802) dengan derajat kebebasan (df) = 0,05. Oleh karena itu, hipotesis alternatif (ha) diterima yang berarti bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari Teknik Round Robin terhadap kinerja berbicara siswa. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa hipotesis inti diterima. Terbukti bahwa Teknik Round Robin dapat membantu siswa meningkatkan dan melibatkan berbicara mereka dan Teknik Round Robin lebih baik daripada Teknik konvensional.

Abstract

The researcher conducted this research because researcher found several problems in the process of learning English. Those problems were related through observation in the class at SMPN 1 Inuman-Kabupaten Kuansing. The first is that the students have difficulty learning English. The second is that most of students lack vocabulary. The third is that the teacher uses monotone techniques in learning English, especially vocabulary. In this case, this research was going to find out whether there was a significant effect of the fly swatter game on students’ vocabulary mastery in first grade students of SMPN 1 Inuman-Kabupaten Kuansing. The researcher used quantitative research as the methodology for this research, as well as experimental research. The design of this research was pre-experimental research with one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects in this research were all of the students in first grade at SMPN 1 Inuman. The researcher used the random sampling technique in taking the sample, in which the VIIB class became the sample of the research, which consisted of 19 students. The data was gotten from the students’ vocabulary tests that were given before and after treatment was given. After calculating the data, it was found that the mean score of the students’ vocabulary mastery on the pre-test was 62.10, while the mean score of the students’ post-test was 73.95. It means that the fly swatter game had a significant effect on students' vocabulary mastery in first grade students of SMPN 1 Inuman-Kabupaten Kuansing. Abstrak Peneliti melakukan penelitian ini karena peneliti menemukan beberapa masalah dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Permasalahan tersebut terkait melalui observasi di kelas di SMPN 1 Inuman-Kabupaten Kuansing. Yang pertama adalah siswa mengalami kesulitan belajar bahasa Inggris. Kedua, sebagian besar siswa kurang kosa kata. Ketiga, guru menggunakan teknik monoton dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, khususnya kosa kata. Dalam hal ini, penelitian ini akan mencari tahu apakah ada pengaruh yang sig+nifikan dari permainan pemukul lalat terhadap penguasaan kosakata siswa pada siswa kelas satu SMPN 1 Inuman-Kabupaten Kuansing. Peneliti menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif sebagai metodologi penelitian ini, serta penelitian eksperimental. Desain penelitian ini adalah penelitian pra eksperimen dengan desain one group pretest-posttest design. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas I SMPN 1 Inuman. Peneliti menggunakan teknik random sampling dalam pengambilan sampel, dimana kelas VIIB menjadi sampel penelitian yang berjumlah 19 siswa. Data diperoleh dari tes kosakata siswa yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah diberikan treatment. Setelah menghitung data, ditemukan bahwa rata-rata skor penguasaan kosakata siswa pada pre-test adalah 62,10, sedangkan skor rata-rata post-test siswa adalah 73,95. Artinya permainan pemukul lalat berpengaruh signifikan terhadap penguasaan kosakata siswa kelas I SMPN 1 Inuman-Kabupaten Kuansing.
