Many pressures and problems experienced by obesity and non-obesity students will cause discomfort and have an impact on mental health problems such as anxiety which can develop insomnia. Objective: To determine differences in levels of anxiety and insomnia among college obesity and non-obesity students, faculty of medicine. Methods: This study is an observational analytic study with cross-sectional approach. The sample is 122 people, consisting of 21 respondents obesity and 101 respondents of non-obese who are students of the Faculty of Medicine Batch 2016 Universitas Diponegoro. Sampling with a total sampling method. Measured respondents ' level of anxiety using a questionnaire Zhung Self-rating Anxiety Scale and the level of insomnia using a questionnaire Insomnia SeverityIndex. The test used is Chi-square. Results: The research results showed that anxiety in obesity 1.6% and non-obesity of 3.3%. While insomnia in obesity of 8.2% and the non-obesity of 28.7%. Based on the results of statistical tests show there is no significant difference in anxiety levels between obese and non-obese (p=275) and there is no significant difference in the level of insomnia among obese and non-obese (p=0,475). Conclusions: There is no significant difference in terms of the level of anxiety and insomnia between obesity and non-obesity.Keywords: Anxiety, insomnia, obesity, non-obesity

Abstract

Background: Low birthweight babies (LBW) have a risk of death 10-20 times greater than normal birthweight babies. Data from Semarang Health Office in 2018, there were 24 cases of LBW in Tembalang. Low nutrional status, namely low body weight and anemia were the risk factor of LBW incident. Objective: To analyze the association features between hemoglobin levels and body mass index in the first trimester of pregnancy with LBW in Tembalang. Methods: This was a observational research with cross sectional analytic design. Respondents were mothers who met the criteria and randomly selected using simple random sampling. There were 44 respondents in this research. The independent variables are body mass index and hemoglobin levels in the first trimester with birthweight as dependent variables. Data is obtained from structured questionnaires and medical records or maternal KIA book. Chi-Square and logistic regression are used to analyze the data. Result: Respondents were mother, who did first trimester antenatal care at the Government's First Health Care Facility in the Tembalang. The majority are multiparity (56,8%), had normal midd-upper arm circumference (72,7%), had weight gain during pregnancy below recommendation (50%), had high compliance of blood vitamin consumption (68,2%), non-work status (59,1%), senior high school graduate (59,1%), and had good family income (52,3%). Analysis result showed there were no significant association between first trimester body mass index and birthweight (p=0,061), also between first trimester hemoglobin level and birthweight (p=1,000). Analysis from the two independent variables also showed no significat association with birthweight (p = 0,877). Conclusion: Most of the respondents had good nutritional status with hemoglobin level and body mass index features in the first trimester showed normal value. Average birthweight also in the normal value and the incidence of LBW is low. The research analyst showed no significant association between first trimester of body mass index and hemoglobin levels with birthweight. Keywords: Birthweight, Body Mass Index, Hemoglobin

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction:  Thalassemia is an inherited disorder that decrease the rate of globin synthesis. Multiple blood transfusions in thalassemia patients leading to complications of hemosiderosis and hemochromatosis. Iron chelator aims to remove excess iron in the body. High ferritin levels interfere with 25-hydroxyvitamin-D production and negatively affect bone metabolism, measured with osteocalcin (N-Mid Oc). Study aims to determine the relation between type of iron chelator and ferritin levels to osteocalcin levels in thalassemia patients with history of repeated transfusions. Method: An observational analytic cross-sectional study. Research was conducted in May - August 2019 and carried out at Red Cross Semarang, Rembang Hospital, and Purwodadi Hospital. Study subjects were 40 people, then 6 people were excluded to 34 people. Gender are 14 male and 20 female. Subjects were thalassemia patient with repeated transfusions and undergoing iron chelation therapy. Subjects that met the criteria were tested for blood to measure ferritin levels and osteocalcin levels. Results: Average ferritin levels was 2842.85 ug/L and average osteocalcin levels was 15.05 ng/mL. There was significant relation between type of iron chelator on osteocalcin levels (p=0.046), but there was no significant relation between type of iron chelator on ferritin levels (p=0.434). There was significant relation between ferritin levels and osteocalcin levels on patient with Deferasirox therapy (p=0.022), but no significant relation on patient with Deferiprone therapy (p=0.432). Conclusion: There is significant relation between the type of iron chelator on osteocalcin levels and there is significant relation between ferritin levels and osteocalcin levels on patient with Deferasirox therapy. Keywords: thalassemia, iron chelator, deferasirox, deferiprone, ferritin, osteocalcin
