Abstract

The global Covid-19 pandemic has had a variety of impacts on the education sector including the deepening of the learning process. The college has transformed initially face-to-face learning activities into distance learning using online learning platform. However, the design of the platform used is still less varied from the type of media and learning applications, where lectures should be able to provoke motivation and the active role of students. This research aims to find out the feasibility results of interactive multimedia and online quiz based on integrated gamification learning system in supporting thematic learning courses. This study used a research and development approach, specifically the ADDIE development model design by Branch (2009). The research subjects are 2nd semester students who will take Thematic Learning courses in Elementary School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta and  Universitas PGRI Palembang. Data collection techniques use questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis uses descriptive analysis. The results showed that the validation results of media experts obtained a score of 3.88 with good categories and material expert validation obtained a score of 3.89 with a good category. Then the results of student responses to interactive multimedia products and online quiz based gamification at the time of the limited trial which included one to one trial obtained a score of 3.50 with a good category, small group trail obtained a score of 3.69 with a good category, and the field trial received a score of 3.95 with an very good category. Thus interactive multimedia and online quiz based gamification integrated LMS in thematic learning courses are said to be feasible and can be used in increasing student motivation and interaction in the lecture process.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the pragmatic function of an Indonesian language teaching in Australia and describe the speech act strategies used by foreign teachers to teach Indonesian in Australia. It employs a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach to the pragmatic function construction in the classroom context. The data are negatively-constructed speeches of a teacher and students who join an Indonesia language learning program, The Apec Lesson Study Project, in Australia. Data are collected through documentation with extended techniques, listening, and recording. Meanwhile, the data are analyzed by using a method of padan pragmatics. The research results show that the pragmatic functions in Indonesian language teaching in Australia can be estimated into various categories and subcategories of speech acts: (1) combinative speech act, manifested into sub-speech acts asking-praising; and (2) directive speech act, manifested into sub-speech acts asking. These findings show how materials, methods, techniques are combined with speech constructions that are appropriate to the student's level. Meanwhile, the speech act strategy used by foreign teachers is a direct literal speech act strategy.

Abstract

Existing technological developments require all fields to be able to adjust to conditions in terms of technology. Several studies related to the use of technology during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia show the unpreparedness of educators to adapt to emergency conditions that demand the use of online and hybrid learning, especially in PJOK subjects. Based on this, the researcher aims to determine the pattern of distance learning carried out by Physical Health and Sports Education teachers in elementary schools in Yogyakarta. Sequential explanatory design is used with quantitative and qualitative research approaches that are carried out sequentially. This research aims to analyze the need to develop learning media that can be used online, offline and in blended learning. The analysis of existing learning patterns shows that most teachers have met the standards of distance learning implementation. However, learning media development on certain materials still needs to be done to support each material delivery activity carried out by the teacher. The survey results show that most teachers still use teaching materials in print or electronic form and existing learning videos. The results of in-depth interviews indicate that there is still a need to develop learning media on athletic activities, self-defense, physical fitness development activities, gymnastics, rhythmic motion, water activities, personal safety, and a healthy lifestyle. With the results of this analysis, it is hoped that it can provide ideas and inspiration for further research in developing learning media, especially Physical Health and Sports Education in elementary schools so that educational goals towards the era of society 5.0 involve various technological developments can be achieved optimally both in emergency and normal conditions.

Abstract

Professional learning can help teachers to develop their knowledge and abilities to support their functions and roles as educators. However, studies show that most teachers in Indonesia have not been involved in continuing professional development. This study aims to describe the professional learning program that has been attended by elementary school teachers in Indonesia regarding classroom behavior management. The results of this study indicate that only some of the teacher participants stated that they had participated in a professional learning program on managing student behavior in the classroom. Organizers of the professional learning programs attended by teachers include the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, schools, universities, and other community members. Participants also shared about the benefits of these activities in managing student behavior in the classroom. The results of this study suggest the importance of implementing more professional learning programs that focus on managing student behavior in the classroom, which are designed effectively to have a direct impact on behavior management practices carried out by teachers in the classroom

Abstract

Speaking skills are very important for every student, especially in expressing opinions. However, some students are still unable to tell stories and convey their respective opinions. There are several factors influencing it. This study aims to identify the factors that influence the speaking skills of fourth-grade students and their efforts to improve their speaking skills in expressing the opinions of fourth-grade students. This study was carried out in one of the state elementary schools in Pedurungan Kidul 02, Semarang, Central Java. The data collected was qualitative in the form of a narrative about the ability of speaking skills in expressing opinions, the factors that influence speaking skills, and efforts to improve speaking skills in expressing opinions. The data source used was the primary data source and the secondary data source. The data collection techniques were observation, interview, test, and documentation. The results of this study show that: (1) the storytelling ability of the three students of grade four B SD Negeri Pedurungan Kidul 02 Semarang City is still in the low category because students are still unable to retell the stories and are not fluent in expressing their opinions, (2) the factors that influence students speaking skills are the first supporting factors which include models, methods, and learning media as well as linguistic factors and non-linguistic factors. The second factor is inhibiting factors, including physical and psychological conditions. (3) the efforts made to improve students speaking skills are that teachers must modify the use of learning methods, improve facilities and infrastructure, and students must practice a lot to tell stories. The contribution of this research is to create a learning media that can attract students’ attention during learning. In addition, modifying or collaborating on learning models and methods used for learning is expected so that students do not feel bored and saturated when participating in learning.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the construct validity of public elementary school performance from the proposed performance theory so that the observed variables can form a latent variable. This study used a quantitative approach with a measurement model in the form of First Order Confirmatory Factor Analysis. The sample in this study amounted to 233 principals of public elementary schools. Meanwhile, the location in this study is Brebes Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia. Then, the data analysis in this research starts with developing the theoretical model, making a causality relationship path diagram, selecting the input matrix and obtaining the model estimate, assessing the identification of the structural model, and assessing the criteria of Goodness of Fit. This study reveals variables for measuring school performance, such as content standards, process standards, graduate competency standards, educator and education staff standards, facilities and infrastructure standards, management standards, financing standards, and education assessment standards, indicating that three observational variables are not significant and invalid in forming school performance latent variables, namely standards of educators and educational staff, standards of facilities and infrastructure, and standards of financing. In this regard, this research makes a practical contribution, namely that there is a need to change the orientation of fulfilling national education standards, which leads to school assessment based on performance appraisal based on curriculum development and implementation, teacher professional development, and optimizing the responsibility of stakeholders to improve educational quality so that schools able to provide optimal performance in providing services to the community.Â
