Abstract

Brown rice extract and VCO have antioxidant activity, so they can be used as active ingredients in the making of antioxidant bath soap. The purpose of this service is to provide training in making antioxidant soap by using brown rice extract and VCO as active ingredients. Soap making begins with mixing the oil used, one of which is VCO, then reacting it with an alkaline solution, after thickening, the active ingredient brown rice extract, and other ingredients are added to improve the quality of the soap. Brown rice extract is used as an active ingredient in antioxidants, as well as a natural coloring agent for soap. The training was conducted in the presence of PKK mothers in Banjar Penganggahan, Tengkudak Village, Penebel, Tabanan, Bali. The village has made VCO independently, but they have problems with its utilization and marketing. Therefore, this soap-making training also helps PKK mothers in utilizing the VCO. The activity was carried out on Tuesday 10 August 2021, with 17 participants. The method used is lectures and practice of making soap. The brown rice soap produced complies with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) and has antioxidant properties with an IC50 value of 264.64 ppm (DPPH method). By carrying out this service, the knowledge of the mothers about the benefits of the ingredients used and how to make soap has increased. It is hoped that this red rice soap product from Banjar will be produced on a home industry scale. Keywords: Antioxidant, DPPH, Oryza nivara. Soap, VCO.

Abstract

To date, COVID-19 infection still become an important health problem in Indonesia, including Bali. We may concern about this situation since there has been no specific drug or vaccine available against COVID-19 infection. In this new normal era, we should maintain our immunity to prevent the infection. Some herbs potentially possess great effect on maintaining immunity to protect ourselves from COVID-19 infection, such as kunyit, temulawak, jahe, kencur, pegagan and kelor. To date, herbs utilization for health in Banjar Sambahan remains very limited. This is related to the limited skill in processing herbal drink (jamu). This activity aimed to raise participant (PKK women at Banjar Sambahan) knowledge, as well as skills, on producing herbal drinks (jamu/loloh) that potentially increase the immunity during COVID-19 pandemic era. This programme was performed by socialization about herbs utilization for health (especially for immunity), accompanied by training (by video) on producing herbal drink and survey for herbal medicine utilization in community. The results of this programme were video, publication on national journal (SINTA indexed) and presentation on national scientific meeting. It can be concluded that this activity supply knowledge and skill for PKK women at Banjar Sambahan in processing herbal drink for maintaining the immunity against COVID-19 infection. Keywords: covid-19, immune, herbal drink, community service

Abstract

Gemitir flower cultivation is one of the agricultural commodities in Apuan village, Susut district, Bangli. The demand for gemitir flowers fluctuates from time to time. When prices are low, farmers will generally experience losses. It is necessary to carry out community service activities that aim to diversify gemitir flower agricultural products into cosmetic products in the form of natural face masks with high antioxidant content. Gemitir flower petals are known to contain tagetin and hydroxyflavones which are naturally antioxidants and are useful in the process of skin regeneration. This face mask product can become a processed product that provides more economic value for farmer groups in Apuan Bangli Village. Community service activities are carried out in stages starting with a survey at the location of the service to see when the gemitir flowers are harvested. At harvest time, the flowers that have bloomed are then collected as needed to be used as samples for processing into face masks. In the first step, the activities carried out were the process of selecting and drying flowers in a natural way and with the help of an oven, then they were made into powder. Product manufacturing activities begin with the pre-formulation of mask preparations. Then with the existing formula, training activities on how to make masks were carried out, including mask packaging. The results of monitoring and evaluation activities showed an increase in public knowledge with an initial average value of 28 to 71 after the final monitoring evaliation was carried out. Keywords: gemitir flower, face mask, natural, antioxidant, training.

The habitat index in Bulota Village is 80%, with an average distance of discovery of larvae with settlements ranging from 5 to 20 meters. While the Hutadaa Village Habitat Index is 60% with an average distance of the discovery of larvae with settlements ranging from 5 to 10 meters. Among the various types of containers examined, which have the highest chance of breeding Anopheles sp. is a swamp, with An. barbirostris as the most common species of mosquito larvae at the location of the asset. In 2050, BPS projects that the number of elderly people will be 74 million, or about 25% of the population. The elderly are a vulnerable group to suffer from hypertension and diabetes. The advancement of current health technology makes it easier for someone to check their pressure and blood sugar to screen for these two diseases. By providing training to elderly cadres on how to measure blood pressure and blood sugar and their interpretation, it is hoped that they will be able to screen for these two diseases independently during posyandu activities. This service is carried out by providing training to the elderly Banjar Umadesa cadres on how to check blood pressure and blood sugar levels with a digital tensimeter and glucometer. After the cadres are trained, health service activities will be provided free of charge to the elderly. There were 50 elderly who attended this activity (29 men and 21 women). Hypertension was found in 15 people (30%) and diabetes in 2 people (4%). But apart from these two diseases, hyperuricemia was found in 12 people (24%), and hypercholesterolemia in 8 people (16%). Elderly cadres can independently measure the blood pressure and blood sugar of the elderly during Yankes activities. With the discovery of a high prevalence of hyperuricemia and hypercholesterolemia, in the future the elderly cadres of Umadesa Banjar need to be given training to measure uric acid and cholesterol levels. hypercholesterolemia, in the future, the elderly cadres of Banjar Umadesa need to be given training to measure uric acid and cholesterol levels.
