Abstract

A study of the effect of pH and time contact on the adsorption of Zn (II) metal on the charcoal of water hyacinth modified chitosan-epichlorohydrin composites has been performed. This study aims to determine the effect of pH and time on Zn (II) adsorption on the charcoal of water hyacinth modified chitosan-epichlorohydrin. Adsorption of Zn (II) metal on the charcoal of water hyacinth modified chitosan-epichlorohydrin composites was tested for pH with variations in pH 2 to 7 and contact time with variations of 15-75 minutes. The results showed that Zn (II) adsorption reached optimum at pH 4 and contact time for 30 minutes was 87.1%.

Abstract

Program IbM ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pendapatan pembuat batu bata di Kelurahan Guntung Manggis.Proses pembuatan batu bata yang lebih ramah lingkungan dan ekonomis dengan komposisi pemanfaatan silika, salahsatunya dari abu sekam padi. Batu bata tanpa proses pembakaran yang memiliki kualitas tinggi tidak kalah di pasarandengan batu bata konvesional sehingga akan menghasilkan keuntungan yang lebih baik. Kegiatan IbM yang dilaksanakanmelibatkan kelompok pembuat batu bata di Kelurahan Guntung Manggis terhadap dua mitra Kelompok pembuat batubata Kuranji dan Kelompok pembuat batu bata Sei Salak. Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan terhadap Mitra I dan Mitra II berupapelatihan pembuatan batu bata tanpa pembakaran yaitu dengan penambahan silika dalam proses produksi batu bata. Prosespembuatan dengan metode tersebut akan menjadikan suatu pengetahuan yang baru dan dapat memanfaatkan sertamengurangi limbah sekam padi yang ada. Luaran kegiatan ini berupa teknologi Green Construction dimana batu bata silikadibuat dari tanah liat dan limbah sekam padi tanpa pembakaran dan pemahaman manajemen usaha sehingga pendapatanyang diperoleh meningkat. Berdasarkan analisis ekonomi bata konvensional dan bata tanpa pembakaran dengan skalaproduksi 100 buah bata, dapat dikalkulasikan terjadinya pengurangan biaya produksi sehingga menjadikan penguranganharga jual bata dibandingkan dengan bata konvensional dengan nilai pengurangan berkisar Rp. 63,5 per bata.

Abstract

The spread of Covid-19 was out of control and spread throughout Indonesia, including Banjarbaru which had a red zone. Desa Cempaka Baru Kota Banjarbaru is a transmigration settlement that is still safe against Covid-19. Even though it is safe, the community is quite at high risk of contracting it. People are required to comply with health protocols, especially cleaning their hands, including using a hand sanitizer. The demand for hand sanitizers in the market is increasing and the price is also rising, so an alternative is needed to make your own hand sanitizer. The aim of the activity is to educate village communities to make hand sanitizers by utilizing materials around their environment. The activity stages include socialization, implementation of making hand sanitizers, and evaluation. Assistance in the form of hand sanitizer products, hand washing stations, and banners advising the prevention of Covid-19 transmission were also provided to the public. The process of making hand sanitizers was demonstrated by students who helped with activities and involved 15 women who were members of the “Sasirangan Working Group”. The service product is a natural hand sanitizer made from lemongrass and betel leaves. The community was very enthusiastic about participating in this activity and promised to make their own later.

Abstract

Sintesis oksida besi hematit (Fe2O3) yang berasal dari Desa Pemalongan dilakukan menggunakan metode presipitasi. Bijih besi yang diolah dengan cara direaksikan dengan HCl 37% ( ) dengan meneteskan NH4OH 25% ( ) sebagai agen pengendap dan ditambahkan PEG-200 dengan variasi rasio volume PEG-200:Besi 1:5 (ml/g), 2:5 (ml/g), dan 3:5 (ml/g). Kemudian dikalsinasi pada temperatur 500°C selama 2 jam. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hasil estraksi, struktur kristal dan ukuran kristal dari senyawa hasil sintesis. Hasil sintesis dikarakterisasi menggunakan X-ray diffraction (XRD) dan scanning electron microscope (SEM). Hasil analisis XRD dengan variasi rasio volume PEG-200:Besi 1:5 (ml/g), 2:5 (ml/g), dan 3:5 (ml/g) telah terbentuk fasa oksida besi hematit (Fe2O3). Hasil sintesis yang menunjukkan kemurnian tertinggi terdapat pada variasi rasio volume 1:5 (ml/g) yang memiliki geometri trigonal dengan parameter sel a = 5,036340 Å; b = 5,036340 Å; dan c = 13,345420 Å; a = g = 90o dan b = 120,000° grup ruang R3 c. Perhitungan ukuran kristal dengan menggunakan persamaan Debye Scherrer yang dihasilkan pada variasi rasio volume PEG-200:Besi 1:5 (ml/g), 2:5 (ml/g), dan 3:5 (ml/g) berturut-turut yaitu 50,9912 nm; 43,08837 nm; dan 45,30663 nm. Hasil karakterisasi SEM menunjukkan oksida besi hematit (Fe2O3) hasil sintesis teraglomerasi dan membentuk butiran-butiran kecil tidak seragam. Abstract

Synthesis and characterization of bioplastics from Nagara sweet potatoes (Ipomoea batatas L) starch with carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) as a filler has been conducted. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of CMC addition on the characteristic of bioplastics from Nagara sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L) starch. Bioplastic synthesis was carried out by the melt intercalation method with variations in the amount of CMC 0-30% (w/w). Bioplastics were analyzed using FTIR spectrophotometer, thickness, solubility, water resistance, water vapor transmission rate, tensile strength and elongation. The values of the tensile strength of the bioplastic produced increases with increasing of CMC. The results also showed that the optimum CMC concentration in bioplastics production is 9% (w/w) with a tensile strength value 0.5281 N/mm2.

Abstract

Tetraethyl Ortosylicate (TEOS) is a material is widely used in industrial fields. One source of silica (SiO2) is rice husk ash. In this study was determined the effect of reaction time on viscosity and density in making TEOS from silica rice husk. Silica resulting from the purification of rice husk ash is used in the TEOS manufacturing process by examining the variation of reaction time. One mole of ethanol and 0.25 mole of silica powder were added into 250 ml of round bottom flask followed by the addition of 1 gram of CuO/Al2O3 catalyst then the mixture was refluxed for 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 hours with sufficient stirring and a temperature of 90 °C. The FTIR characterization results show that there are three main functional groups, namely the -OH, Si-O and C-O groups in the five TEOS synthesis results. Wavenumbers of the –OH functional groups obtained ranged from 3349 cm-1 - 3315 cm-1; Si-O functional groups range from 813 cm-1 - 606 cm-1 and C-O functional groups range from 1105 cm-1 - 1040 cm-1. Reaction time has no significant effect on viscosity. Reaction time has no significant effect on the density and density of the resulting TEOS.

Abstract

Research on the analysis of rice husk content of Siam Unus with various NaOH concentrations (1.0 M; 1.5 M; 2.0 M; 2.5 M; 3.0 M) has been done. This study aims to obtain data on the effect of variations in NaOH concentration on the purity of the silica extract from Siam Unus rice husks and silica characterization of Siam Unus rice husks using Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) and X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF). The results showed that the combustion of rice husks at 200 °C as the optimum temperature for 1 hour followed by combustion at 600 °C for 4 hours produces grayish-white rice husks with a yield is 20.70%. Silica functional group characterization showed that silanol (Si-OH) and siloxane (Si-O-Si) as dominant functional groups. The result of composition characterization using XRF showed that SiO2 is the dominant compound with the highest percentage of SiO2 is 1.5 M NaOH extract at 42.80%.

Abstract

This research was carried out to determine the effect of chitosan concentration in synthesising crosslinked tripolyphosphate (TPP) macropore beads on turbidity, dye content, and Chemical of Demand (COD) Sasirangan wastewater. Macroporous chitosan-TPP beads were synthesised from chitosan solution with various concentrations of 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5% and added NaHCO3 as a porogen, then dripped into 0.75% tripolyphosphate solution. It was further interacted with Sasirangan wastewater by adsorption method with its effect analysed by using the turbidity value, dye content, and COD. The results showed that beads with a 3% chitosan concentration were the most effective in reducing the turbidity, dye content, and COD value. Furthermore, using a more than 3% chitosan concentration indicates reduced effectiveness. Macroporous Chitosan-TPP beads were able to produce a decrease in turbidity, dye content and COD by 81.21%, 55.44%, and 59.37%.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang komposisi membran optimum pada elektrode selektif ion Methanil Yellow. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komposisi membran optimum campuran antara kitosan, polivinil klorida (PVC) dan dioktilftalat (DOP) pada elektrode selektif ion Methanil Yellow. Tahapan awal yang dilakukan adalah pembuatan badan elektrode dan kemudian dilanjutkan dengan melakukan variasi komposisi terhadap membran campuran kitosan, polivinil klorida (PVC) dan dioktilftalat (DOP). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komposisi membran optimum kitosan:PVC:DOP sebesar 20:30:50 dengan harga Nernst sebesar 56,82 mV/dekade konsentrasi.
