Abstract

This study focuses to analyze the errors probably make on changing active voice into passive voice. Was the study was conducted at SMP YPI Amir Hamzah Medan. The subject of the research was class VIII consisted of 24 students. The type of research is quantitative research. Based on the problem study aimed (1) to to identify and analyze the errors probably make on changing active voice into passive voice. (2) to find out the dominant tense has more errors on changing active voice into passive voice. The instruments of data collection is test. The data were obtained and used in quantative form. Based on data analysis, researchers found that the total errors made by students were 277. The types of errors students made were ommission(56 or 20.22%), misformation (168 or 60.65%), addition (28 or 10.11%) and misordering (25 or 9.03 %). The data also shows that the dominant tense has more errorson changing active voice into passive voice is misformation

Abstract

Pelatihan teknik membaca cepat (Skimming dan Scanning) bagi siswa kelas XI jurusan Teknik Komputer dan Jaringan di SMK Swasta Yapim Biru-Biru, merupakan pelatihan yang bertujuan untuk memaksimalkan kemampuan siswa dalam membaca teks berbahasa Inggris dan mempermudah mereka dalam menjawab soal-soal yang berhubungan dengan teks tersebut. Subjek pelatiha ini merupakan siswa kelas XI SMK Swasta Yapim Biru-Biru, jurusan Teknik Komputerdan Jaringan. Adapun metode pelatihan yang digunakan pada pelatihan ini berupa metode ceramah, yaitu pemaparan materi pelatihan yang nantinya menjadi tolak ukur keberhasilan pelatihan dilakukan. Adapun beberapa instrumen penunjang seperti laptop, kamera, projector dan teks cetak, menjadi bagian penting dalam pelaksanaan pelatihan. Hasil dari pelatihan menggunakan teknik membaca cepat (skimming dan scanning) menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan membaca siswa khususnya membaca teks berbahasa Inggris, hal ini dapat diketahui dengan suksesnya siswa menyelesaikan soal-soal yang berhubungan dengan teks bacaan yang disedikan dalam bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the original story of Batak Toba folklore “Batu Parsidangan” and transformed it into a script as teaching material in junior high school. This research was conducted at Batu Parsidangan, Desa Siallagan Pindaraya, Kabupaten Samosir, North Sumatera. This research used descriptive qualitative method to describe words and clauses systematically, accurately, and factually. The instrument of data collection was observation, interview and documentation. The source of data were Bataknese informant. The result of this research is Batu Parsidangan was used by the Batak King to punish and execute the defendant who does the criminals in his village. Abstract

The objective of this research is to revitalize the Batak Toba folklore Tugu Silalahi as learning material in junior high school. The aims to find out the original story of batak toba folklore “Tugu Silalahi”. This research used descriptive qualitative. The researchers conducting interviews with the community in Silalahi village as an instrument for collecting data from interviews obtained by the researcher. The result showed that the silalahi story was true, indicated by existance of a monument as a form of respect for Raja Silalahi. And then researcher making a story script which is used as material. Abstract

This study deals with information of Batak Toba folklore Patung Sigale-Gale into learning materials at Junior High School. The objective of this study is to develop complete story of Patung Sigale-Gale Batak Toba folklore into teaching materials in English Subject for Junior High School. This study used descriptive qualitative approach in analyzing the data. The data of this research are interview and observation in Samosir Island, North Sumatera, source of data were an informant who knew about the history of Patung Sigale-Gale. The result of this study, there were able to write complete story about Patung Sigale-Gale that can be used as teaching materials in the classroom, especially in English Subject.

Abstract

This study aimed to inform the capability the folklore of Aek Sipitu Dai into learning materials at Junior High School. The objective of the studies were to develope Aek Sipitu Dai Batak Toba Folklore into teaching materials in English subject for Junior High School, to transcribe Aek Sipitu Dai Batak Toba Folklore into teaching materials in English subject for Junior High School, to refresh Aek Sipitu Dai Batak Toba Folklore into teaching materials in English subject for Junior High School. This study used descriptive qualitative approach in analyzing the data. The data of this research are interview in observation in Samosir Island. The result of this study, there are a complete story about Aek Sipitu Dai that can be used as teaching materials in English Subject, the complete story are able to be transcribe as a complete story, there was found a Batak Toba Folklore that can be used as teaching material in English Subject

Abstract

This study deals with cross-culture of people who live in Indonesia and western. Especially, the national culture of Indonesia that is going to compare with western culture. People know that every country has its own culture, the eastern and western countries have their way of going live. The aim of this study is to compare the culture of Indonesia and western people in their daily live. This study used descriptive qualitative method. This study analysed the utterances, actions and the way of life Indonesia and western people. The result, there are many significant different ways of life, utterance, and action that actually allowed in Indonesia but forbidden in western people.

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out the contribution of Mnemonic Device Technique to increase students vocabulary mastery. Descriptive qualitative was used as research method in this research. The source of data was junior high school students at SMP Swasta Yapim Buiru-Biru. The data of this research were students score in vocabulary mastery. The result of this research was Mnemonic Device Technique has specific contribution to increase students vocabulary mastery. Based on five kinds of Mnemonic Device Technique, they are: 1) Rhyme-Keys, 2) acronym, 3) Peg word system, 4) Loci Method, and 5) Keyword Method, the kind that actually increase students vocabulary mastery was Keyword Method. It happened because students were easy to remember something that near from their daily language or something iconic in their language.
