Abstract

Two-wheeled self-balancing robot is a popular model in control system experiments which is more widely known as inverted pendulum and cart model. This is a multi-input and multi-output system which is theoretical and has been applied in many systems in daily use. Anyway, most research just focus on balancing this model through try-on experiments or by using simple form of mathematical model. There were still few researches that focus on complete mathematic modeling and designing a mathematical model based controller for such system. This paper analyzed mathematical model of the system. Then, the authors successfully applied a Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) controller for this system. This controller was tested with different case of system condition. Controlling results was proved to work well and tested on different case of system condition through simulation on matlab/Simulink program.

Abstract

This paper presents a robot concept which is the robot can play the instrumental Gamelan music. Gamelan is a percussive instrument. Instrumental Gamelan music keys are consist of 2 octaves in 15 tones. Robot Gamelan music is using proportional-derivative (PD) control system. PD control of the robot is by controlling DC gear motor position to desired Gamelan key position. Robot Gamelan music using ATmega 16 microcontroller as a controller. Feedback of PD control is using magnetic rotary encoder (MRE) sensor. PD control is using the constant. The constant functions of PD control are determining the pulse width modulation (PWM) toward DC gear motor velocity in order to reposition a gamelan key position and pushing down the errors.

Abstract

This paper proposes a non-destructive technology to control subterranean termites Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren infestations. In the experiment, the apparatus for termites control used electromagnetic waves at two frequencies: 300 Hz and 300 kHz. Termites were exposure to electromagnetic waves on direct methods with variation of exposure time 15, 30, 45 and 60 min respectively. The use of electromagnetic waves for termites control are very beneficial, they are odorless, noiseless, friendly to environment, and easy to apply. The result showed that electromagnetic waves had an effect to termites. The value of termites mortality was range between 25.45~82.27% and the average value of termites filter paper consumption was between 8.89~39.44%. Meanwhile on control treatment, termites mortality and termites filter paper consumption were respectively 14.05% and 79.88% in average. The highest frequency of electromagnetic waves and the longest irradiation time caused the highest average value of termites mortality. The magnitude field from apparatus was range between 0.069~0.1815 μT, which is safe to utilize around the human body. The best result was achieved on frequency 300 kHz and irradiation time 60 min. These results represent important information about the potential use of electromagnetic waves technology for termites control as an environmentally benign alternative in spite of the insecticides uses.

Abstract

Plant health is an essential factor to reducethe number of import in a country. In this research, we usepaddy as an example to understand plant health. Ourresearch is motivated by our belief that technology mightaid in reducing chances of failed paddy harvest inIndonesia. To understand the plant health of paddy, wedesigned unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) integrated pocketcameras to record near infra-red (NIR) light. Apart fromNIR light data, we obtained the normalized differencevegetation index (NDVI) values of paddy to observe theplant health based on the photosystem metabolism thatabsorb red light and blue light and reflects green l ight andNIR light. Based on the test results, the values of NDVI aregiven -0.819672, 0.395018, 0.346667, 0.032680, 0.705628 and0.302817. Based on values of NDVI, we conduct avalidation test with farmers to compare NDVI values wi thactual conditions on the ground. Based on the test, theobtained value of NDVI was in accordance with the actualconditions in the field.

Abstract

Abstract
