Abstract

AbstractThe background in this research is conceptual understanding is one of the abilities students must have to be able to succeed in learning mathematics. Conceptual understanding is students mastery of mathematical concepts, operations, and relations. In conceptual understanding influenced by the cognitive style students have. Because each student has a unique way of learning related to how information is received and processed, attitudes toward information, and habits related to the learning environment. The purpose of this research is to describe the conceptual understanding of students assessed from cognitive style in the material linear inequality of one variable in SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Raya. The research method used is descriptive method in the form of case study. Data collected using tests and interviews. The subjects of this research were students of grade VII A consisting of field independent cognitive style students and field dependent cognitive style student. The results of this research are students conceptual understanding of field independent cognitive style able to fulfill four indicators of conceptual understanding. Whereas students conceptual understanding of field dependent cognitive style is able to fulfill two indicators of conceptual understanding. Keywords: Cognitive Style, Conceptual Understanding, Linear inequality one variable

Abstract

AbstractThe thesis entitled the influence of the Realistic Mathematics Education approach on student achievement in Pontianak MTs N 2 aimed to examine the influence of the Realistic Mathematics Education approach on student achievement at Pontianak MTs N 2. The method used in this study was a pre-experimental design  with the research design used was one group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were students of class VII at MTs N 2 Pontianak. The sample of this study was the students of class VII K who were selected using the purposive sampling technique.The data collection technique used is a achievement test. The pretest and posttest data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon-test after fulfilling the normality test. Analysis of student achievement obtained by Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) from the Wilcoxon test is 0,000 < 0,05. Thus it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant effect of the Realistic Mathematic Education approach on student achievement. Keywords:    Realistic Mathematic Education (RME), Student Achievement, Numbers

Abstract

AbstractThe background of this research is the 2013 curriculum that developed in Indonesia requires students to learn mathematic must reach a Higher Order Thinking Skill. To measure students Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS), test instrument need to be develop.This type of research is research and development. The instrument development by Tessmer which consists of Self-Evaluation, Experts Review, One to One, Small Group, dan Field Test stages. Data collection techniques are written and data collection tools are written test instruments. Based on  the results of the field test, the validity of the questions analyzed (C4) is 30%,  evaluating(C5) is 30% and creating (C6) is 40%, the reliability of the test instrument is high, namely 0.7254. the difficulty level is good with 70% moderate and 30% difficult, and good differentiation where there are no bad problems. Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to know the effect of the application of the Wankat-Oreovocz strategy to the ability of problem solving and activity of students in the form of algebra at the Christian Junior High School of Immanuel 2 Sungai Raya. This experimental method is experimental with a one-shot study and to collect data in this study used the problem solving test, along with the observation sheet of learning implementation and students learning activity. The participants in this study was 43 students of the VII B. The result showed that: 1) The Wankat-Oreovocz learning strategy didn't positively effect the students problem solving skill with the value of sig. 0.147; 2) The average of the application of the Wankat-Oreovocz strategy is well categorized with score of 3.20; 3) Students learning activity during the implementation of this strategy was in the category of very active with the percentage of 88.87%.Keywords: Wankat-Oreovocz Strategy, Problem SolvingPENDAHULUANMatematika merupakan suatu mata pelajaran yang

Abstract

AbstractRepresentation is central to study of mathematics. Students can develop and deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts and relationships as they create, compare, and use various representations. This research aimed to evaluate the students? ability of mathematical representation on the function subject matter. The subjects of this research were the students who had learn the function subject matter, they were grade VIII students of SMP Bumi Khatulistiwa. The method which used in this research was a descriptive  with case study. The technique of data collection were measurement technique and the direct communication technique. Based on the data analysis, generally the students? ability of mathematical representation in the middle categorized. The students could not represent the data correctly because the writer still found an error of their writing. According to the three types of representation which used such as visual representation, verbal representation and symbolic representation, the highest mean score was symbolic representation it was 16,07 ( 44,64%). Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa ditinjau dari aspek interpretation dalam penyelesaian masalah materi program linier di kelas XI SMA Negeri 4 Pontianak. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif  dengan bentuk penelitian survei. Adapun yang menjadi subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI MIA 4 SMA Negeri 4 Pontianak. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa ditinjau dari aspek interpretation secara keseluruhan berdasarkan skor hasil tes dan wawancara pada tiga indikator aspek interpretation yaitu mengkategorikan, menguraikan arti, dan mengklarifikasi maksud tergolong dalam kategori sedang. Sedangkan jika dilihat dari skor hasil tes dan wawancara untuk masing-masing indikator, kemampuan siswa pada indikator mengkategorikan tergolong sedang, pada indikator menguraikan arti tergolong sangat tinggi, akan tetapi pada indikator mengklarifikasi maksud tergolong rendah.   Kata kunci : Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis, Aspek interpretation Abstract: This reasearch aims to know students critical thinking skill based on interpretation aspect in problem solution of linear programm material in grade 11th at SMA Negeri 4 Pontianak. The research used descriptive method with survey research design. The sample of this research were students in grade XI MIA 4 at SMA Negeri 4 Pontianak. The data analyze result show that as whole, student critical thinking skill based on interpretation aspect from the score of  test result and interview in three indicators of interpretation aspect that are categorizing, decoding significance, and clarifying meaning  categorized in medium category. But, if we saw that from score of test result and interview in each indicator, students skill in categorizing classified in medium category, in decoding significance indicator classified in very high category, and in clarifying meaning indicator classified in low category. Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to describe students' critical thinking in solving SPLTV problems at SMAN 3 Pontianak. The critical thinking criteria in this study used the FRISCO criteria (Focus, Reason, Inference, Situation, Clarity, Overview). Students are said to be ideal critical thinking if they meet the six criteria, and students are said to not have ideal critical thinking if there is one criterion that is not met. The research method used in this study in the qualitative with the descriptive type. Data collection techniques were written tests and interviews with data collection tools critical thinking tests and unstructured interview. The research subjects were 30 students of class X IPA 2 at SMAN 3 Pontianak. The results of the research obtained were that no one student could fulfill the six FRISCO criteria in the analyzing indicator and the evaluating indicator. This means that it can be concluded that the almost student's critical thinking is not ideal, because the criteria that appear only focus, clarity and overview.   Keywords: Critical Thinking, FRISCO, HOTS

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to find out the ability of mathematical representation of students that have characteristics of concrete sequential, abstract sequential, concrete random, and abstract random thinking in grade XI at MA Mathla'ul Anwar Pontianak. This form of quantitative descriptive research, for the data collection techniques used are test techniques and indirect communication techniques. The data collection instrument used are polls and problems with test. It is obtained that students with characteristics different ways of thinking in relatively understand the context of the problem, can present the information provided in visual, verbal and symbol forms. Student with concrete and random sequential thinking types are students having high visual representation abilities, while student with abstract and random sequential thinking have high symbolic and verbal representation abilities. The ability of symbolic representation is the highest ability in every way of thinking students with a high percentage, then the ability of visual and verbal representation has the same percentage in the way of students thinking. Keywords: Ability of  Represenasi Matematis, Function, Characteritic way of thinking

Abstract

Abstrak : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan generalisasi matematis siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan bentuk penelitian studi survey. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 03 Pontianak dengan subjek sebanyak 30 siswa. Berdasarkan hasil analisis terhadap data tes generalisasi matematis dan wawancara diperoleh bahwa dari 30 siswa, empat siswa (13,3%) tergolong dalam kategori generalisasi matematis tinggi, 21 siswa (70%) tergolong dalam kategori generalisasi matematis sedang, dan  lima siswa (16,7%) tergolong dalam kategori generalisasi matematis rendah. Siswa yang tergolong dalam kategori kemampuan generalisasi matematis tinggi sudah mampu menguasai tiga aspek generalisasi matematis yaitu Perception of generality, Expression of generality, Symbolic of generality. Sedangkan kemampuan siswa kategori generalisasi matematis sedang hanya mampu menguasai sampai aspek Expression of generality dan kemampuan siswa dalam kategori generalisasi matematis rendah mengalami banyak kesulitan untuk setiap aspek.   Kata Kunci: Analisis, generalisasi matematis, kemampuan siswa Abstract : The purpose of this research was to know and description the students mathematic generalization ability by using descriptive method within survey studies. This research was conducted at Junior High School 03 Pontianak with 30 students as subjects. The results of mathematic generalization test and interview analyzed showed that four students(13,3%) classified in high category, 21 students (70%) classified in medium category, and five students (16,7%) classified in low category. The students in high categories has been able three aspect of mathematic generalization, such as perception of generality, expression of generality, symbolic of generality. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika ditinjau dari adversity quotient dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita mengenai keliling dan luas bangun datar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan bentuk penelitian survey. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 35 siswa di kelas VIIIB SMP N 3 Sungai Ambawang. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika ditinjau dari 3 tipe adversity quotient, antara lain: tipe climber yang terdiri dari 12 siswa berada pada kategori sedang dengan rerata skor 7,17, tipe camper yang terdiri dari 23 siswa juga berada pada kategori sedang dengan rerata skor 5,87, sedangkan tipe quitter tidak dideskripsikan karena siswa tipe quitter tidak ditemukan dalam penelitian ini.   Kata kunci: Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah, Adversity Quotient, Bangun Datar Abstack: This research aims to describe mathematical problem solving ability based on adversity quotient in solving word problem about circumference and area of plane. This research used descriptive method with survey form. The subjects of this research were 35 students of class VIIIB in SMP N 3 Sungai Ambawang. The result of this research showed that mathematical problem solving ability based on 3 types of adversity quotient, besides: type of climber were 12 students as medium category within averages 7,17, type of camper were 23 students as medium category within averages 5,87, type of quitter not descrimbed because student of quitter can’t found in this research.
