Abstract

Natural science, as a fundamental science, requires a series of observations to be understood. For the subject about structure of earth, earthquake, and volcano, the students need the direct observation because the nature of the subject that tends to be abstract. In order for the students to be able to observe directly about the subject of earth that tends to be formed in an abstract concept, therefore the students need the learning media that is able to change that concept into the concrete one moreover also can change it into a fun education for the students. The media that is able to solidify the abstract concept is a media in a form of interactive multimedia. In order to make the students become ecstatic during the learning process, it is a need to do the edutainment approach. Therefore, it is a necessary to do an observation with a purpose to produce the product in a form of interactive multimedia named science edutainment with the topic of earth that is applicable and valid for seventh grade of junior high school students. This research used 4D method without dissemination step. The applicability of the developed product is obtained from the validation of product and the readability test. According to the results of media validation done by the expert, the media was considered appropriate by the percentages of 76.4% for media appropriateness and 88.5% for content appropriateness. On legibility test, it obtained 91.3% by teachers and 93.5% by students, which mean that the media was very appropriate. Hence, the interactive multimedia of science-edutainment on earth topic for the 7th graders of Junior High Schools is considered appropriate and valid.

Abstract

Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) merupakan perpaduan antara pemahaman materi (content knowledge) dan pemahaman cara mendidik (pedagogical knowledge) yang harus dimiliki oleh guru. Untuk menyiapkan kemampuan pedagogik dan profesional mahasiswa calon guru IPA maka prodi IPA FMIPA UM menerapkan KPL (Kuliah Praktik Lapangan) berbasis lesson study. Lesson study merupakan model pembinaan (pelatihan) profesi pendidik melalui pengkajian pembelajaran secara kolaboratif dan berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kemampuan pedagogik mahasiswa calon guru IPA. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah skor hasil observasi kompetensi PCK mahasiswa yang meliputi kemampuan dalam merancang pembelajaran, kemampuan dalam mengelola pembelajaran, kemampuan dalam penguasaan materi, dan kemampuan umum PCK mahasiswa calon guru IPA. Instrumen penelitian ini berupa lembar observasi kompetensi PCK mahasiswa calon guru IPA. Persentase kemampuan mahasiswa calon guru IPA FMIPA UM dalam membuat perencanaan pembelajaran, kemampuan dalam mengelola pembelajaran, penguasaan konten (kemampuan profesional), dan total persentase PCK (Pedagogical Content Knowledge) mahasiswa calon guru,secara berturut-turut adalah 88,78%, 85,66%, 86,90%, dan 87,15%.

Abstract

Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan kompetensi/profesionalisme adalah dengan melakukan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) secara berkesinambungan. Praktik pembelajaran melalui PTK dapat meningkatkan profesionalisme guru karena PTK dapat membantu guru untuk: (1) mengembangkan kompetensi dalam menyelesaikan masalah pembelajaran mencangkup kualitas isi, efisiensi dan efektifitas pembelajaran, proses, dan hasil belajar siswa, (2) meningkatkan kompetensi kepribadian, sosial, dan prefesional. Dengan melakukan PTK, guru menjadi terbiasa menulis. PTK sangat penting untuk meningkatkan apresiasi, dan profesionalisme guru dalam mengajar. Berdasarkan analisis kebutuhan masyarakat tersebut, prodi pendidikan IPA mengadakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat melalui kegiatan penulisan artikel berbasis PTK untuk MGMP IPA MTs Kabupaten Malang. Kegiatan ini dimaksudkan untuk menstimulus atensi guru sehingga dapat berpartisipasi aktif melakukan PTK dan menuliskan laporan hasil penelitiannya dalam bentuk artikel ilmiah. Artikel ilmiah yang dihasilkan selanjutnya dapat dipublikasikan dalam seminar/proceding/jurnal terakreditasi dalam rangka untuk meningkatkan profesionalisme guru. Tercatat sebanyak 57 orang guru IPA terlibat dalam pelaksanaan PTK dan kemudian membuat outcome berupa artikel ilmiah.

Abstract

The Industrial Revolution 4.0 is a comprehensive transformation of all aspects of production in industry through the combination of digital and internet technology with conventional industries. The education sector is an important field that must adapt to the demands of the times so as not to be left behind. In the world of education, especially in subjects such as Basic Biology, there are many objects that are difficult to visualize in real terms, one of which is the topic of the Structure and Function of Plant Networks. The problem can be visualized using Augmented Reality (AR) technology. The purpose of developing AR-based teaching materials is to combine biology material by applying AR technology so that learning is more interesting, meaningful, and interactive, and students can observe objects in biological studies. The product specifications developed were in the form of Basic Biology I teaching materials consisting of the BIOAR application and augmented reality-based supplement books on the topic of Plant Tissue Structure and Function. This method of developing teaching materials used R & D (Research and Development) which consisted of (1) Research and Information collection, (2) Planning, (3) Development of teaching materials based on augmented reality, (4) Validation of teaching materials by experts. The validation results showed that this augmented reality-based teaching material was declared very valid with a value of 4.52.

Abstract

Tujuan penelit­­ian ini adalah menghasilkan instrument tes literasi sains siswa SMP materi tekanan zat dan penerapannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari yang valid dan reliabel. Instrumen tes literasi sains yang dikembangkan berupa tes pilihan ganda dalam bentuk wacana sains yang mengacu pada indikator tingkatan literasi sains PISA (level 1-5) materi tekanan zat dan penerapannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Wacana soal dalam instrumen literasi sains yang dikembangkan merupakan modifikasi rumusan wacana A-G strategy. Hasil validasi instrumen tes literasi sains diperoleh skor rata-rata sebesar 94,6% dengan kriteria sangat layak. Subjek uji empiris sebanyak 98 siswa kelas VIII SMP. Hasil uji empiris diperoleh 21 soal valid dengan reliabilitas sebesar 0,829 dengan kategori sangat tinggi. Jumlah soal yang dihasilkan berdasarkan indikator tingkatan literasi sains level 1 sebanyak 4 soal (19%), level 2 sebanyak 4 soal (19%), level 3 sebanyak 4 soal (19%), level 4 sebanyak 4 soal (19%), dan level 5 sebanyak 5 soal (24%). Penelitian dan pengembangan ini menghasilkan instrumen tes literasi sains siswa SMP materi tekanan zat dan penerapannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari yang valid dan reliabel.

Abstract

Kurikulum 2013 memiliki tujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar yang meliputi 3 ranah, yaitu pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan sikap. Ranah pengetahuan yang hendak dicapai oleh guru-guru IPA SMP saat ini adalah kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi atau HOTS (High Order Thinking Skills). Civitas Akademik Program Studi Pendidikan IPA FMIPA Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) mengadakan workshop pengembangan soal-soal HOTS bagi MGMP IPA SMP Banyuwangi. Peserta yang hadir dalam kegiatan ini sebanyak 120 guru, dengan latar belakang pendidikan yakni Pendidikan Biologi, Pendidikan Fisika, dan Pendidikan Kimia. Materi yang disampaikan diawali dengan pengenalan Kurikulum Program Studi Pendidikan IPA FMIPA Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) dan Kurikulum 2013 untuk IPA SMP, dilanjutkan dengan materi utama yaitu materi dalam IPA dan pengembangan soal HOTS (High Order Thinking Skills). Dalam pelaksanaannya, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat bagi MGMP IPA SMP Banyuwangi ini terlaksana dengan baik dan efektif.

Abstract

Kreativitas merupakan keterampilan yang diperlukan di era 21. Penggunaan pendekatan STEM dalam pembelajaran memfasilitasi siswa dalam belajar sehingga siswa mampu mengimplementasikan ilmu yang didapat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Pembelajaran IPA dapat ditunjang dengan penggunaan buku ajar, namun buku ajar yang ada saat ini masih memisahkan materi yang ada sehingga pembelajaran belum sesuai dengan era 21 dan guru masih mengajarkan sesuai dasar pendidikannya. Tujuan dari penelitian dan pengembangan adalah untuk menghasilkan pengembangan buku ajar berpendekatan STEM untuk mengembangkan kreativitas siswa pada tema tekanan. Hasil dari pengembangan buku ajar menunjukkan materi pada buku siswa sebesar 94,8%, media buku siswa sebesar 91,3%. Materi buku guru sebesar 90,7% dan media sebesar 91,8%. Buku guru dan buku siswa aspek materi dan media dapat dikategorikan sangat layak

Abstract

Miskonsepsi adalah konsepsi siswa yang tidak sesuai dengan konsepsi para ilmuwan. Miskonsepsi terjadi secara konsisten di dalam pikiran siswa dalam menafsirkan konsep menjadi konsepsi dan atau dalam penerapannya menjadi fakta. Mata pelajaran IPA sering menimbulkan kesulitan siswa dalam memahami konsep-konsep yang abstrak. Hasil analisis miskonsepsi menggunakan instrumen diagnostik three tier, selanjutnya dapat dilakukan identifikasi miskonsepsi untuk mengetahui jenis miskonsepsi yang terjadi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskripsi kualitatif untuk mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi gerak pada siswa SMP.  Miskonsepsi materi gerak yang ditemukan pada siswa berada pada konsep kecepatan, kelajuan, gaya aksi-reaksi, inersia, dan gerak.

Abstract

Until recently, not only students in middle high schools but also in a university have difficulties in understanding either mathematical representations or physical concept behind scientific phenomena. Those difficulties are then associated with a low level of critical thinking. For instance, in physics, it seems to be not easy for students to attain proper relation among wave speed, wavelength, and frequency. This unproper understanding contributes to students’ low critical thinking skill. One of the most effective ways to overcome the problem is to use student-centred learning with interactive, animated, and game-like learning experiences. Guided inquiry learning and a freely App “Physics Education Technology (PhET)” are believed to meet the criteria. This study focused on the students’ knowledge construction process to be able to think critically the wave-related concepts. This PhET-assisted guided inquiry learning strategy was addressed to 25 students at a junior high school in Indonesia. The objective is to explore the stages of inquiry learning approach using PhET, especially on training them to attain their critical thinking skill. This is a qualitative study that purely involves in-class observation. The lesson plan and student worksheets were prepared as the research instruments. As the results, we found that the use of PhET in the guided inquiry learning model can help students acquire to learn the concept of wave speed, wavelength, and frequency with critical thinking.
