Abstract

This article is based on a research study focussing on correspondenceamong Proto Malay Polynesian (PMP, for short), the Yogyakarta Javanese dialect,and Indonesian. The research employed a top-down reconstruction analysis.The results of the analysis have indicated that PMP is reflected in theYogyakarta Javanese dialect with the retention of the vowels /a/, /i/, /u/, and /ê/ andthe consonants /b/, /p/, /m/, /t/, /n/, /k/, /K/, /l/, and /s/ and an innovation in thevowels /i/, /ey/, and /ê/ and the consonants /z/, /q/, /b/, /R/, /s/, /S/, and /D/ and thatPMP is reflected in Indonesian with the retention of the vowels /a/, /i/, /u/, and /ê/and the consonants /b/, /p/, /m/, /t/, /d/, /n/, /k/, /K/, /l/, /r/, and /s/ and an innovationin the vowel /i/ and the consonants /q/, /z/, /R/, /D/, /s/, and /S/.Keywords: correspondence, reflection: retention, innovation

Abstract

Bahasa Jawa dalam tayangan berita Pawartos Ngayogyakarto belum cukup sempurna karena masih ditemukan kesalahan atau kerancuan fono-ortografis dan oto-fonologis dalam pemakaiannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan kerancuan fono-ortografis dan oto-fonologis pada Bahasa Jawa ragam lisan dan tulis dalam berita Bahasa Jawa di Jogja TV. (2) mengetahui penyebab kerancuan fono-ortografis dan oto-fonologis pada Bahasa Jawa ragam lisan dan tulis dalam berita Bahasa Jawa di Jogja TV. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dengan pendekatan linguistik yang dalam pelaksanaannya menerapkan metode penelitian linguistik. Penelitian ini mengambil data dari lapangan dan kepustakaan. Data utama penelitian ini adalah data lisan, berupa tuturan dalam siaran berita Jogja TV serta wawancara dengan pembaca berita dan juga naskah yang dibaca oleh pembaca berita. Sampel penelitian ini adalah tuturan dalam siaran berita Pawartos Ngayogyakarta yang disiarkan di Jogja TV selama satu bulan di bulan Januari 2011. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan ada empat teknik, yaitu teknik rekam, teknik catat, teknik simak dan teknik cakap. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan fono-ortografis yang terjadi diantaranya pada fonem vokal /I/,/i/,/e/,/a/,/ǝ/,/o/,/u/, dan konsonan /dh/,/d/,/t/, /th/. Adapun kesalahan dari segi oto-fonologis yang terjadi adalah pada fonem vokal /I/, /i/, /e/, /a/, /ǝ/, /ɛ/,/o/,/u/,/U/,/ɔ/, dan konsonan /ḍh/,/dh/,/ṭ/,/t/. Kesalahan yang terjadi diakibatkan oleh latar belakang sosial budaya dan pendidikan pembaca berita dimana tidak semua pembaca berita berasal dari daerah Jawa Tengah dan DIY serta tidak semua memiliki latar belakang pendidikan Bahasa Jawa. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ CONFUSIONS IN JAVANESE LANGUAGE USAGE SEEN FROM PHONO-ORTHOGRAPHIC AND OTO-PHONOLOGIC ASPECTS IN SPOKEN AND WRITTEN REGISTERS IN JOGJA TV’S   Abstract This study aims to: (1) describes the confusion of fono-orthographic and phonological auto-range in Java spoken and written language in the Java language news in Jogja TV, (2) to know the confusion cause of fono-orthographic and phonological autorange in spoken and written Java language news in Jogja TV. The research drew on data from field and literature. The Main Outcome Data is oral data, in the form of speech in Jogja TV newscasts and interviews with news readers and texts that are read by the newsreader. Data from the field in the form of data is written and oral data Informants were selected from Ngayogyakarta Pawartos newsreader. This research is a linguistic approach in practice applying qualitative research methods. The news broadcast every day, in order to obtain the news footage as 30 samples in this study. Data collection techniques used there are four techniques, namely recording techniques, technical notes, refer to the technical and engineering competence. The analysis in this study includes the use dishonest methods and methods agih. The analysis showed that fono-orthographic errors that occurred among the phoneme vocal . The error in terms of a vokal /I/,/i/,/e/,/a/,/ǝ/,/o/,/u/, and consonan /dh/,/d/,/t/,/th/.uto-phonological happens is the phoneme /I/, /i/, /e/, /a/, /ǝ/, /ɛ/,/o/,/u/,/U/,/ɔ/, and consonan /ḍh/,/dh/,/ṭ/,/t/. Errors that occur due to the socio-cultural background and educational anchor in which not all readers news from the area of Central Java and Yogyakarta, and not all have the educational background of the Java language. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk  mendeskripsikan (1) bentuk-bentuk interferensi morfologi bahasa Jawa dalam bahasa Indonesia, (2) bentuk-bentuk interferensi sintaksis bahasa Jawa dalam bahasa Indonesia, dan (3) faktor penyebab terjadinya interferensi morfologi dan sintaksis bahasa Jawa dalam bahasa Indonesia pada hasil karangan menulis laporan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah hasil karangan pada pembelajaran menulis laporan berbahasa Indonesia Objek yang diteliti adalah bentuk-bentuk interferensi morfologi dan sintaksis bahasa Jawa dalam bahasa Indonesia beserta faktor-faktor penyebabnya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik baca dan catat serta pengisian angket. Data dianalisis menggunakan metode padan intralingual dengan teknik Hubung Banding Membedakan. Keabsahan data diperoleh melalui ketekunan pengamatan dan pemeriksaan sejawat. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bentuk-bentuk interferensi morfologi bahasa Jawa dalam bahasa Indonesia meliputi proses morfologis dan morfofonemis. Interferensi proses morfologis meliputi afiksasi dan reduplikasi. Interferensi proses morfofonemis berupa peluluhan fonem pada awal kata berprefiks {N-}.Interferensi sintaksis meliputi pola konstruksi frasa, penggunaan preposisi, konjungsi, dan partikel. Faktor penyebab terjadinya interferensi morfo-logi dan sintaksis bahasa Jawa dalam bahasa Indonesia adalah faktor linguistik meliputi penguasaan B1, rendahnya penguasaan B2 dan faktor kedwibahasaan. Faktor nonlinguistik meliputi kebiasaan, lingkungan, sikap bahasa, motivasi, guru, dan evaluasi pembelajaran.Kata Kunci: interferensi, morfologi, sintaksis, dan faktor penyebab The grammatical interference of Javanese language in Indonesian essay of junior secondary school students’ AbstractThis research was aimed to describe (1) Javanese morphological interference forms in Indone-sian language, (2) Javanese syntactic interference forms in Indonesian language, and (3) the factors cousing Javanese morphological and syntactic interference in Indonesian essay. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subject of this research were the essay as learning outcomes. The objects of this research were Javanese morphological and syntactic interference forms in Indonesian language and the factors that cause the morphological and syntactic interference. The data were collected by reading and writing techniques and questionnaires. The data were analyzed using the unified intralingual method with Connecting Appeal Differentiating techniques. The validity of the data obtained from a continous observation and peer review. The results of this research find the mor-phological and syntactical interference. The morphological interference includes morphologies and morphophonemic processes. The morphologies interference process includes affixation and reduplica-tion. The morphophonemic interference process was the result of phoneme at the beginning of the word with prefix {N-}. The syntactical interference includes the pattern of phrase constructions, the use of prepositions, conjunctions, and particles. The causes of Javanese morphological and syntactic interference in Indonesian language are linguistic factors including the mastery of L1, low mastery of L2, and bilingualism factors. Nonlinguistic factors include habits, environments, language attitudes, motivations, teachers, and learning evaluations.Keywords: interference, morphological, syntactic, and causes factors

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan program multimedia interaktif berbasis Flash untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata siswa kelas VII SMP Kota Banjarbaru. Penelitian ini meng-ukur kualitas program ditinjau dari validasi ahli, penilaian pengguna dan hasil pretest-posttest. Pengembangan dilakukan melalui lima tahapan, yaitu: (1) analisis awal, (2) desain, (3) pengem-bangan program, (4) evaluasi, dan (5) pengemasan produk akhir. Subjek uji coba adalah siswa dan guru Bahasa Inggris kelas VII di SMP Negeri 11 Banjarbaru. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah lembar validasi, angket guru dan siswa, dan pretest-posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) kualitas program dari segi materi dan media termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik dengan rerata skor 4,30 dan 4,44; (2) kualitas program dari penilaian guru dan siswa masuk dalam kategori baik dengan rerata skor 3,79 (guru) dan 4,18 (siswa); dan (3) terdapat peningkatan antara rerata skor hasil pretest (61,33) dengan posttest (85,2). Dengan demikian program multimedia yang dikembangkan cocok dan layak untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di kelas. Kata kunci: pengembangan program, multimedia, kosakata, Flash

Abstract

PHILOLOGICAL STUDY AND STUDENT EDUCATION in DHEDHASARANING WEWATEKANIPUN MANUNGSA TEXTAbstract: This research aims to reveal the steps of philology research on the Dhedhasaraning Wewatekanipun Manungsa text and reveal how the text can be used by teachers to educate students with different personalities, so learning can be more  effective. This study is qualitative research utilizing  philological approach. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques, starting from unitization, sampling, recording data, describing data, making inferences, and analyzing data. The results of this study include manuscript inventory, manuscript description, transliteration, and editing of the Dhedhasaraning Wewatekanipun Manungsa manuscript. The study also discusses the manuscript proposes ways to educate students based on their personalities, for example, bingahan personality students are educated with an enthusiastic approach, kerasan personality students are educated in a decisive style, sedhihan personality students are educated with understanding and encouragement, while sarehan personality students are educated patiently. The Dhedhasaring Wewatakipun Manungsa text contains values that could be a guide for teachers to educate their student according to their personalities, make teaching and learning more effective, and developing students’ characters.Keywords: Philology, Dhedhasaraning Wewatekanipun Manungsa, Javanese manuscripts, EducationKAJIAN FILOLOGI DAN CARA MENDIDIK DALAM NASKAH DHEDHASARANING WEWATEKANIPUN MANUNGSAAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan langkah-langkah penelitian filologi terhadap naskah Dhedhasaraning Wewatekanipun Manungsa dan cara mendidik siswa supaya naskah dapat digunakan oleh guru sebagai panduan mendidik siswa yang memiliki kepribadian yang berbeda-beda sehingga dapat tercipta keefektifan belajar. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan teori filologi. Analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis isi yaitu unitisasi, sampling, mencatat data, menjabarkan data, menarik inferensi dan menganalisis. Hasil penelitian ini adalah inventarisasi naskah, deskripsi naskah, transliterasi, dan suntingan dengan aparat kritik dari naskah Dhedhasaraning Wewatekanipun Manungsa. Dalam penelitian dibahas bagaimana naskah tersebut menyebutkan cara mendidik siswa berdasarkan kepribadiannya yaitu kepribadian bingahan dididik dengan cara yang semangat, kepribadian kerasan dididik dengan cara yang tegas, kepribadian sedhihan dididik dengan pengertian dan penyemangat, dan kepribadian sarehan dididik dengan sabar. Ilmu di dalam teks Dhedhasaraning Wewatekanipun Manungsa bisa menjadi panduan guru untuk mendidik siswa sesuai dengan kepribadiannya sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran menjadi lebih efektif dan membentuk karakter siswa menjadi lebih baik.Kata kunci: Filologi, Dhedhasaraning Wewatekanipun Manungsa, Manuskrip Jawa, Pendidikan siswa Permalink/DOI: dx.doi.org/10.17977/um015v48i22020p103

Abstract

Abstract:  Laku in Attaining Perfection of Life According to Javanese Manuscript “Ngelmi Pangrucat”. Life tranquility is something which is always wanted by everyone. The last purpose of tranquil life achievement is to reach the perfection of life in this world and hereafter. However, not everyone is aware of behaving well to attain the life tranquility. Regarding to this, the role of ancestors’ writings in the form of Javanese manuscript is very important to deepen human understanding in achieving the perfection of life in which the contents contained remain relevant to be used as life guidance. How is laku? This article explains about manners (laku) to reach life perfection based on Javanese manuscript entitled Ngelmi Pangrucat. This study employed descriptive method by using modern philology theory approach. The result of the study is the text on Ngelmi Pangrucat manuscript with latin characters which are correct. Additionally, sentences were found containing the steps of Ngelmi Pangrucat in the form of laku in order to attain the tranquility and perfection of life on earth and hereafter.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the test items of Javanese for junior high school in Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) using Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) literacy parameters. It was qualitative descriptive research employing content analysis methods. The instruments used were test items of PISA and Javanese reading literacy. The data collected was primary data in the forms of words, phrases, sentences, paragraphs, and discourses. The purposive sampling method was used to choose the research subjects. Data were analyzed using content analysis methods. The data collection was conducted through detailed documentation on test items of PISA reading literacy published by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and Curriculum 2013 Javanese reading test items for junior high school obtained from final examinations of four regions and one city in DIY. The semantic validity was used in this study. The results of the data analysis showed that out of 25 characteristics of PISA parameters of test items, there were only 13 (52%) characteristics a lied in test items of Javanese for junior high school in DIY, while the rest (48%) was not found in the Javanese test items. Based on these findings, it is expected that teachers can develop test items for Javanese reading literacy with higher thinking ability levels.

Abstract

Penulisan ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal Jawa dalam teks serat Mangunharja. Teks Serat Mangunharja merupakan salah satu naskah peninggalan jaman dahulu yang ditulis dengan tulisan tangan dan berwujud macapat yang menggambarkan perjalanan sesorang untuk mengadakan penelitian terhadap keadaan sungai-sungai di daerah Surakarta yang kemungkinan dapat dibendung untuk pengairan sawah dan ladang serta mengandung nilai-nilai kearifan lokal. Data diambil dari teks Serat Mangunharja yang dibaca secara heuristik dan hermeneutik. Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif, khususnya dengan membaca data, mengklasifikasi data, menafsirkan data, dan mendeskripsikan data. Validitas data menggunakan validitas semantik, sedangkan reliabilitas data menggunakan reliabilitas intrarater dan interrater. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa teks Serat Mangunharja memuat nilai-nilai kearifan lokal Jawa. Kearifan lokal Jawa yang ditemukan dalam Serat Mangunharja setidaknya ada enam hal, yaitu (1) pendidikan moral, (2) sifat kesatria, (3) pendidikan anak, (4) sikap masyarakat, (5) pengendalian diri, (6) kepemimpinan.Kata Kunci: kearifan lokal, kearifan lokal Jawa, Serat Mangunharja

Abstract

This article presents a report on the needs analysis of Javanese learning for speakers of other languages. Applying the descriptive-analytical method, this study used data gathered from the survey of 57 participants from 27 different countries. The present study revealed that the most difficult aspect of studying Javanese is on mastering its vocabulary (54.8%). This condition limited the learners’ confidence to engage in any conversation with the locals (74.2%) and made them less progressive in some other related competencies such as reading and writing. Based on the participants’ responses to the survey, the approach recommended to facilitate the program of Javanese for speakers of other languages is the communicative approach. The design of the program targeted proficiency in communicating using Javanese. Vocabulary learning is needed in real situations and contexts. Therefore, the learners could improve their capacity in Javanese and engage with the local people better.  Through its comprehensive examination of the challenges, opportunities, and potential solutions, this research not only contributes to the field of language education but also reinforces the value of embracing linguistic diversity as a cornerstone of our shared human experience.
